Dr. Ojiako expressed surprise that the Chairman of the Council, a lawyer, would knowingly breach this rule, potentially opening the university up to unnecessary litigation and crisis.

He said that the previous tenure of Professor Umeobi served as Ag VC for about four months before the appointment of Dr. Odoh as substantive VC. Dr. Ojiako however argues that re-appointing Professor Umeobi for another six months would be against the rules, given her previous tenure.
