* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has commended corps members in Anambra state for their contributions, services and commitment to fostering nation unity. Soludo revealed that Anambra State has enjoyed the collaboration of National Youth Service Corps and the skillful services rendered by Corps Members, expressing the optimism of supporting the operations and ideals of the scheme.
* The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing Construction of Unizik Junction-Okpuno-Isuaniocha Road. Speaking to newsmen at Unizik Junction after the inspection of the road, Okoma said he came for an on-the-spot assessment to see the progress of work going on and to make sure that the contractor is adhering strictly to the scope of work as stipulated in the contract.
* Tears of joy rolled down the cheeks of some emotional parents as the names of their children who persevered till the end were called out for the collection of their professional certificates.
It was the maiden induction/oath ceremony of the first set of graduands in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, Anambra State. The degree in pharmacy programme, which the first set commenced in 2016, was dogged by challenges bordering on securing full accreditation from the National Universities Commission and the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria.
* Anambra State Government is to revoke plots allocated to developers who failed to develop them after the stipulated time frame. The Managing Director of Anambra State Housing Development Corporation, Chief Chike Anyaonu disclosed this when Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Housing and Urban Development visited the corporation at its corporate headquarters in Awka.
* In fulfilment of its commitment to the realisation of the home ownership dreams of Nigerian workers who are contributors to the National Housing Fund scheme, the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria has inaugurated 180 Housing Units in Anambra State. Located at Nkwele Ezunaka by Hillview Estate, the housing project was developed in collaboration with the Organised Labour
* As the contest for the chairmanship position of the APGA in Anambra state draws closer, Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, who is aspiring to be the next state chairman, has announced his plans and intentions to reorganise and redirect the party towards a more profitable end. Obi-Okoye who outlined lofty ideas to be explored for new opportunities and innovations recalled that some dramatis personae who allegedly worked against APGA to scuttle Soludo’s gubernatorial ambition in connivance with opposition elements, can not be in the leadership of the party at the state level because of their questionable characters.
* The Dean of Faculty of Law, UNIZIK Prof Ogugua Ikpeze has suggested that Local Government Councils be given powers to give customary right of occupancy to land developers. This, she said, will help improve revenue generation for grassroot development, in line with the vision of the Soludo administration. Ikpeze said accruing revenues from the land developers should be used in servicing state government projects.
* The launching of Anambra State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System, (ASEMSAS) has continued to attract commendations from major stakeholders in the state. In his reaction, the state chairman of Nigeria Red Cross Society, Prof. Peter Katchy said the Scheme will enhance prompt response to medical emergencies and save many lives. ASEMSAS is a collaboration between the government and the private sector to accelerate responses to medical emergencies across the state.
* The Federal Government has upgraded the Onitsha General Hospital to a federal medical centre. The Minister of State for Health, Hon. Ekumankama Joseph Nkama who represented the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire performed the commissioning in Onitsha amidst cheers and jubilation.
