* Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has described the commissioning of the Second Niger Bridge as a fundamental change that will catalyze new waves of prosperity and economic growth in the South-East region. Governor Soludo made the disclosure at the commissioning and handover of the bridge, which was officially named as Muhammadu Buhari Second Niger Bridge.

* The Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Prof Nkechi Ikediugwu, has charged Principals of secondary schools in Anambra State to desist from illegal collection of levies or face demotion. The PPSSC chairman gave the charge recently when she visited Kenneth Dike Memorial Secondary School, Awka, where she met with some SS Two students sitting close to the school’s gate and on interrogation, she discovered that the students were chased out of classroom for nonpayment of school fees which was above the official school fees.

* A research team from New Globe has arrived Anambra State to commence a Pro Bono landscape survey of Anambra State Schools. The survey to be conducted in selected schools is aimed at achieving Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s transformational agenda in Education. A release signed by the Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Education, Mr. Nnaemeka Egwuonwu said that the programme which is powered by the New Globe, has been found to be impressive in countries like Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and India.

* An Executive Director in Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, AIRS, Dr Christian Mmadubuko, says all round development of the state is the top priority of the present administration which requires resources to be achieved. Mmadubuko, who stated this at Onitsha, shortly after issuing demand notices to some offices and facilitating the arrest of a suspected illegal revenue collector at Nnewi, explained that developed countries did not just get to where they are today but achieved it through proper generation and appropriation of internally generated revenue.

* Fear has gripped property developers in Anambra State as Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration is set to embark on a land verification exercise to fish out illegal land claimants. The affected locations are Millennium City Layout, Iyiagu Layout and Ikenga Layout, all in Awka, the state capital. An official of the Ministry of Lands said the verification is in accordance with the approved recommendation stipulated in the report of the state government’s Land Reform Committee white paper.

* The Director of Learning Field International School, Onitsha, Mr. Kenechukwu Nsofor has enjoined the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to tackle multiple taxation in the private school sector. He made the plea recently while chatting with newsmen during the Inter House Sports Competition held by his school at the Basilica Square Onitsha.

* Senior Apostle Charles Onyechi and family of Umuike Awka, Awka South Council Area has built, equipped and handed over, Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, ESOCS, Cathedral for Awka Province. The edifice was dedicated by Moses Orimolade IX andPrelate of ESOCS Church World-wide, Baba-Aladura, Dr David Bob-Manuel. The special service which was held recently featured dedication of different parts of the church attracted many Senior Special Apostles and other clergymen including Elder Dr Napo Emuchay, who is the Secretary General of the order.

* A Computer Science graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Oko has died in an accident two days after her project defence and a data to her marriage. The lady, Peace Uchechukwu is an  indigene of Ifite, Oko in Orumba North LGA.
She was reported to finished her HND final exam last month and defended her final year project on Thursday 18th May 18, 2023.

* Youth Coalition for Education in Nigeria,(YOCEN) a non Governmental Organization, recently presented an award to the Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Surveyors, Anambra state Chapter, Surv. Gabriel Okeke with the “Vangaurd of Societal Transformation in Nigeria”.

ANN gathered that YOCEN was established to deliver vibrant and effective educational programme designed to assist those who do not have access to basic and qualitative educational services

* Feelings of joy and fulfilment pervaded the atmosphere recently, as students of Regina Pacis International Secondary School, Onitsha, donated mobility canes produced by students of the school to 20 visually impaired people drawn from across the South-East. The mobility canes enable blind or visually impaired people to go about their daily businesses wherever they find themselves.

* Barrister Ifeatu Obi-okoye has emerged as the Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA. Obi- okoye emerged after being unanimously elected to the position during the party’s 2023 State Congress held on Tuesday May 22, 2023 in Awka
