* Anambra Police command has recovered a white Porsche Cayenne Jeep with Reg Nos: AGL 60 HJ Lagos suspected to Operational vehicle of the successions operating in Okija, Ihiala LGA.
According to a release by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer,
Anambra State Command, during a search of the vehicle, the operatives found a bag and discovered Twenty-Seven pieces of live 7.62m ammunition, three live cartridges, one-touch light, charms, and other incriminating items. To this end, Anambra State Commissioner for Police, CP Nnagha Obono Itam has charged the Operatives to sustain the tempo and direct continuous onslaught operations aimed to weed out all the criminal elements and reduce crime to the barest minimum in the State.

* Various Directorates and Units has honoured the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Charles Esimone as he winds down on his tenure.
The valedictory meeting was held by six of the directorates comprising of the Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (COCES), Centre for Art, Culture and Humanities (CACH), Public Private Partnership (PPP), Quality Assurance Centre, Igbo Village and Centre for African Civilization (IVACAC), UNIZIK Medical Centre and Centre for Counselling and Career Development (CCCD).

* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has reaffirmed its dedication to eradicating illegal mining activities in the state. This commitment was made by the State Commandant, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, while receiving on a courtesy visit the Federal Mines Officer, Anambra State, Engr. Henry Bolarinwa in Awka. Comdt. Maku emphasized the importance of collaboration between the NSCDC and the Federal Mines Officer to sanitize the mining sector and prevent economic losses caused by illegal mining.

* The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has expressed displeasure over the decision of the Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) to disregard the agreement it had with the state government on a consolidated annual levy. Chairman of IPMAN, Enugu Depot, Mr Chinedu Anyaso said the signage agency had been harassing marketers in the state with court summons. Anyaso said based on the renegotiated agreement, every filling station would pay the sum of N120,000 per year and that members had paid up to 2023. He said items covered included Business Premises, Sanitation Levy, Fire Service Fees Tenement/Property Rate, Environment Audit Report, Billboard and Advertising Fees.

* Anambra Police Command has arrest a notorious and most wanted Cultist and Armed robber in Uruagu village, Oba, Idemili South LGA. The suspect, Anichede Akachukwu ‘M’ 18 years A.K.A Star B, is a confessed leader of Vikings secret cult confraternity and armed gang terrorizing Ogbaru LGA and Asaba in Delta State. His arrest is following a tip-off of intelligence gathered as he was receiving treatment in their den from a bullet wound sustained in their encounter with Police Operatives in Asaba. The suspects have provided Police with information on their mode of Operations and names of other gang members which is already aiding the ongoing investigation.

* Anambra State House of Assembly on Thursday 23rd May 2024 held a valedictory session in honour of late Hon. Anthony Chukwuemeka Ezechinwoye who died at 64 years. Late Ezechinwoye who was a former President-General of Oraukwu community, represented Idemili North Constituency at the 4th assembly between 2007-2011 and was the house committee Chairman on Health. Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze in his tribute on behalf of the 8th assembly, commiserate with the Ezechinwoye family stating that tha late former lawmaker was an accomplished palamenterian who made significant impact on the lives of his constituents both within and outside the chambers.

* Anambra State Police Command has frowns at a publication titled ‘Fear in Anambra Community over missing 19 rifles’ and describes the report as a publication to promote personal agenda and seek attention. The Command notes the unprofessional attitude of some media persons who deliberately published stories to achieve a selfish interest, especially without recourse to the authority’s concern.

* Anambra government and leaders of the organized Labour Union in the state met and addressed all the issues at an over three hour meeting behind closed doors. The meeting which was held at the Executive Chamber, Government House, Awka had Governor Chukwuma Soludo and other top government officials in attendance. Addressing the Press, the State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Union, Comrade Humphrey Nwafor explained that Governor Soludo has suspended the contributory pension scheme and set up a committee to take up the matter, with a view to investigating the money deductions, why they were made and report back within eight weeks.

* Traders at Old Motor Spare Parts (Mgbuka) Nnewi have protested alleged sit-tight tendency, harassment of colleagues with security personnel and lack of accountability in office by their former Chairman, Mr Chinedu Enyeribe.
The protesting traders held placards with various inscriptions, matched from the market to Nnewi Police Area Command, where they said some of them have been invited for detention. Speaking to newsmen, caretaker Committee Chairman of the market, Evangelist Raphael Nwufo alleged that Mr. Enyeribe was elected for a three-year tenure, but before the tenure expired, he caused an amendment on the market constitution and stayed a year longer, after which he has continued to hold on to power for almost seven years.

* Anambra Police command has rescued an abducted victim and recovered his vehicle, a sky blue Toyota Camry in Aguata LGA. The Officers responded swiftly when they got the report on Wednesday of the abduction along Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA. According to a release by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, during the hot chase by the Police team, the criminals shoved the victim out of the vehicle at Ndike village in Orumba North LGA and drove off for escape. The Officers sustained the trail on the abductors and the criminals abandoned the vehicle along Umunze road Orumba South LGA and ran into a nearby bush. Operations are still ongoing for the possible arrest of the hoodlums.
