* Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has congratulated Most Rev. Denis Chidi Isizoh of Catholic Diocese, Aguleri, on the occasion of his 9th Episcopal Ordination anniversary. In his goodwill remark signed by Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Aburime, Soludo expressed gratitude and joy that the celebrant continues to serve as a dedicated shepherd to the faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Aguleri, with deep commitment, compassion, and leadership.The governor further commended the Prelate on his tireless efforts in promoting spiritual growth, fostering unity, and supporting the community, all of which have left an indelible mark on the hearts of many and serve as a source of inspiration for a more harmonious society.

* Anambra workers booed Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the state Deputy Governor, during the May Day celebration in the state. The show of shame happened at the Dr Alex Ekwueme square in Awka, as he represented the Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on workers day event. The absence of Soludo, was the reason for the boo. They said he was afraid of addressing the long list as presented by the NLC and TUC, describing him as ‘not worker’ friendly. The workers who initially refused to file out for the usual match past which has become synonymous with the rally, said Soludo’s absence was deliberate.

* Anambra State government has tasked Veterinary Technicians to develop a robust working relationship with other stakeholders in veterinary practice that will improve safety of meat being consumed in the state. Anambra State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Forster Ihejiofor made the call at a meeting with Veterinary Technicians drawn from all the twenty-one Local Government Areas of the state. While stressing the need for effective animal disease control and surveillance across the state, Ihejiofor said that the Ministry will do everything within its power to ensure that their challenges are addressed.

* Anambra State Government, through the ministry of Environment has commenced state wide campaign against clogged water channels and other environmental practices that are inimical to good health.

Speaking to newsmen in his office, the Anambra State Commissioner for Environment  Engr. Dr Felix Odimegwu stated that the ministry had released a statement to the general public on the 20th of February 2024 which mandated all traditional rulers, President-Generals, markets, motor parks, schools, estates, churches, abattoirs, shopping complexes and plazas to desilt and evacuate all silts and debris with immediate effect.

According to Odimegwu “The year 2023 recorded reduced flooding and zero fatalities as a result of proactive deliberate intervention by the state government to desilt all major drainages, water ways, canals and gutters”

* The Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi in his sermon at the one-day crusade organized by the Bridgehead Central Market Evangelism Group, said that sexual immorality is capable of denying people of their destiny as was the case of Rueben, whose first sonship was denied him because he slept with his father’s wife. The Prelate said this was contrary to Joseph who disciplined himself in the face of strong temptation from the wife of Potipher, his master. He stressed the need for christians to live righteous, saying that events in the world currently are clear indication that there is no time remaining again for people to live carelessly.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South LGA, Prince Neville Uchendu has presented Certificate of Recognition to the Igwe -Elect of Ihite Town in Orumba South LGA, Chief Timothy Okwudili Ifulunwa, as the recognised Ogbuodudu one. Uchendu gave him the letter after Ihite Community led by the President General Hon. George Madu, presented the Igwe-Elect to him at the Orumba South Secretariat, Umunze.

* Mr. Nwankwo Nweke, aged seventy five  years who hails from Isiagu in Awka South Local Government Area of the state has been arrested for defiling an eight year old girl. The suspect, after his arrest, confessed that it was temptation that made him have carnal knowledge of the underage girl. The little girl was also taken to the hospital, where it was also confirmed that the suspect truly had carnal knowledge of her. Reacting to the incident, Anambra Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, who expressed her anger over the sad incident, frowned that some bad eggs still go on to flout the law, despite all the efforts being made by the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to stop and make such things intolerable in the State.

* Several distinguished indigenes of Awka, the Capital City of Anambra State have restated their unalloyed support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for his comprehensive and pragmatic approach to various developmental challenges confronting the State. This was made known when the cream of people including Senator Ben Ndi Obi, Prof A. U. Nonyelu, MD/CEO ASWAMA, Mr. Mike Ozoemena, Igwe of Ogbunka, HRH Igwe Johnmark Anyaoha among others, were led by MD/CEO Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Comr. Ossy Onuko on a general inspection of various projects being built by Governor Charles Soludo. The people who were later received by the Commissioner for Housing, Mr Pauly Onyeka at the site of the ongoing New Government House and Governor’s Lodge project, expressed in-depth satisfaction with the giant strides being accomplished by the Governor.
