* Anambra communities have been urged to support the ongoing restoration of public water supply by Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration by protecting water facilities in their areas. Speaking in Awka, a former Managing Director of Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, ANSAA, Chief Jude Emecheta said this will further promote quality and healthy living. Emecheta noted that this will give Ndi Anambra and residents of the state easy access to clean and safe water which will reduce the spread of diseases and ensure hygienic and healthy environment, noting that the initiative would benefit all segments and strata of the society.
* The Traditional Ruler of Omor, Ayamelum Local Government Area, Igwe Chidume Oranu has urged governments in the South East to always celebrate Ndi Igbo who have impacted on humanity to preserve their legacies and encourage hard work. Igwe Oranu made the call during the 2024 edition of remembrance programme for the late literary icon, Professor Chukwuemeka Ike held at Professor Kenneth Dike Library, Awka organised by the Nigerian Book Foundation in collaboration with the Anambra State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists and the state Ministry of Education.
* Hon. Chukwunonso Ukpomeze of Achalla community in Awka North Council Area has been inaugurated as the Anambra State Chairman of Accord Party of Nigeria. The inauguration which took place in Awka was performed by the National Vice Chairman, South East Zone of the party, Chief Emeka Chigbo. The State Working Committee of the party was also inaugurated, with members including Dr Chidiebere Uba, State Vice Chairman, Ndife Nwafor, Secretary, Anwulika Nwafor, Woman Leader, and Iloma Ebere, Youth President. * Anambra State secures the privilege of hosting Nigeria Beach Soccer League 2024, marking a significant milestone for the South East region. Nnewi, Anambra State, readies itself to host the captivating second round of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League 2024, scheduled from May 15th to May 19th. * The National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa has paid a visit to his predecessor, Ozonkpu Dr. Victor Ike Oye, at his country home in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State. * In-line with Governor Charles Soludo’s vision to empower Anambra women, the founder of Admin Foundation Support Group, Hon. Promise Egbeji has taken it upon himself to empower Onitsha South one constituents, stating that it was initiated to assist women, and small scale market sellers. While urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the fund, Hon. Egbeji added that, he will continue putting smile on the faces of the people especially his constituents.
* The Public Relations Officer of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, COOUTH, Amaku-Awka, Henrietta Agbai says the disposal of abandoned corpses at its mortuary since 2014 will commence from July 2024. Agbai disclosed this in a statement she issued recently on behalf of the Chief Medical Director of COOUTH, Dr Josephat Akabuike, and the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital, Dr Emmanuel Mba.
The development has resulted in the hospital’s mortuary being overloaded with corpses, most of whom are unidentified, as far back as 2014. Disclosing the decision of the hospital to dispose of the corpses, the COOUTH PRO, Agbai, said it followed the approval granted for the action by the state government.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has approved the appointment of Dr. Justina Chinyere Anyadiegwu as the new Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe. Anyadiegwu succeeds Dr. Anwuluorah Ogugua Patricia and assumes leadership of the esteemed institution, founded 48 years ago.
Anyadiegwu brings to her new role a wealth of experience garnered over 18 years as a senior lecturer at Nwafor Orizu College of Education.
* A graduate of Chemistry from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra State, Juliet Chidiebube Uka, has scored 324 in the just concluded 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. Uka was the best-graduating student in the Department of Chemistry at UNIZIK in 2021, graduating with a first class. She said she sat for the 2024 UTME to study Medicine as she wants to fulfill her dreams of becoming a medical doctor. Her result made public, showed that she scored an aggregate of 324 in UTME as she seeks to re-enter the university.

* The Member representing Njikoka Constituency Two at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Akpua has constructed a seven-room lock-up shop and borehole at Abba in Njikoka Council Area. Akpua who is also the Deputy Majority Leader of the 8th Assembly handed over the project to Abba Town Union as part of his constituency projects.
