* Anambra Commissioner For Health, Dr Afam Obidike says the state is targeting about three million children to be vaccinated with oral polio vaccine against polio and other diseases. Dr. Obidike stated this during a press briefing organized by the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency in collaboration with the state Ministry Of Health in implementing polio vaccine campaign. The briefing which was to intimate the public on the Outbreak Response two which targets children from zero to 59 months, has its theme as ‘Keep Polio At Zero’.

* Sand and cement stabilisation is ongoing on  Umudiana Awka road. The project known as Umuogbu flood control and road project has about eight road projects and is 3.872 km in length. Drainage construction as well as earth work are going on on most of the roads awarded in the Agulu Awka. ANN gathered that sand and cement stabilisation is ongoing on Umudiana street from point zero zero, Enugu-Onitsha axis.

* United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, delegation has toured some active erosion sites in the state where they assured to help with immediate intervention. ANN reports that the team who were accompanied on the tour by the Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Felix Odimegwu and other senior members of the ministry visited sites such as College of Nursing Science, Nkpor-Umuoji, Nnobi-Umuoji, Akuzor Nkpor-Agu and Umuezena village and Obeleagu Village Umudim Nnewi erosion sites. The Environment Commissioner, Odimegwu restated the existence of 1000 active erosion sites in over 160 communities out of the 181 communities in the state. 

* Oyi transition committee chairman, Hon Emma Nweke has received the Nkwelle Ezunaka Igwe elect, His Royal Majesty Sir Obiorah Anachuna in his office. The president-General of Nkwelle Ezunaka Development Union, Ogbuefi Willie Okafor, who led the Igwe elect to the TC chairman, stated that they came to officially present the Igwe elect to the local government chairman and to invite him to the coronation & installation of the Igwe elect as Igwe Nkwelle Ezunaka on Sunday.

* Anambra state government has re-assured its commitment to Open Government Participation (OGP) in achieving critical objectives of the Professor Chukwuma Soludo administration.

Commissioner For Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake while speaking during the opening segment of a two day Technical Session For Development Of Anambra State Open Government Participation, Second Action Plan (SAP 2), maintained that the goal is to fosters a collaborative relationship between the government and non-governmental entities.

* Anambra State Government has flagged off polio outbreak response, round two, at Umueze Anam Primary Health Care. ANN reports that the event, organized by the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency in collaboration with the State Ministry of Health and partners, targets children aged zero to 59 months. Anambra Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim while speaking, highlighted the advancements recorded in healthcare sector in the state including in infrastructure and staff. He acknowleded the support of partners like the World Health Organization (WHO), and urged communities to raise awareness for widespread vaccination.

* The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN, Anambra State Branch has celebrated the 2023 International Accountants Day. The event which was held at Prof.Kenneth Dike Central E-library, Awka, attracted members of the association from departments, ministries and agencies in Anambra State. ANN reports that the International Accountant Day is celebrated on November 10 every year and serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the great work accountants do to make businesses thrive, support the economy and help people navigate the complexities of finance. The theme of the celebration is “Advanced Financial Literacy for a Sustainable Future”.

* Anambra State Government has intervened in the lingering issue of improper conduct/modalities of sanitation levy collection in Okpoko community, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state. The state’s Commissioner for Environment, Dr Felix Odimegwu, who led other Ministry officials to an interactive meeting with leaders of Okpoko community and the government assigned Pay-direct  Waste Contractor, held recently at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Environment, Awka, enjoined the contractor to stop forthwith any crude method of enforcing the payment of sanitation fees in Okpoko and embrace a civil and friendly approach. Engr Odimegwu appealed to Okpoko residents to cooperate with the contractor for efficient performance to make Okpoko clean.
