* One of the foremost support groups in Nigeria under the aegis of APGA Solidarity Movement (ASM), recently visited the Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), High Chief (Barr) Ifeatu Obi-Okoye.
Speaking at the visit, the National Convener of ASM, Honourable (Sir) Ebere Okafor, paid a glowing tribute to the APGA helmsman in Anambra State, describing him as an experienced politician and a seasoned grassroots mobilizer, saying that they were in his office to not only appreciate for his good work within the party, but to inform him about their plans to rejig the political settings of the state with their clear-cut policies and programmes.
Hon. Okafor explained that ASM had been in existence for a very long time, assuring that their mandate was to defend, promote and complement the activities of the party in the state and at the national level, adding that they would continue to support the party at all levels.

Some of the facilities blessed by the Bishop includes: eye clinic facilities, dental laboratory clinic, ultra sound and ECG, x-ray, main theatre, casket boutique, Intensive Care Unit among others
The blessing of the facilities was greeted with joy amidst hope that with the facilities, better health delivery would be achieved.
The Bishop, in his remarks, appreciated the hospital’s Administrative Director, Rev. Fr Kenneth Okafor, and the entire members of staff, for being committed in ensuring that the facilities were best put to use for the purpose they were meant for.
* The member representing Idemili North and South federal constituency, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo in partnership with National Cereal Research Institute Badeggi, empowered Idemili youths, women, elderly, and students with POS machines, grinding machines, sewing machines, barber clippers, and cash grants to support small and medium-sized businesses.
Speaking at the event, Okonkwo, represented by his legislative aide, Hon. Ikechukwu Okafor Jr., acknowledged the economic challenges facing the country. He emphasized the importance of empowering his constituents so they can better support themselves and their families.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the equipment and cash grants to create sustainable sources of income that could, in turn, generate employment opportunities for others. He also called on stakeholders to join him in his vision to improve the livelihoods of Idemili constituents.
In her remarks, Mrs. Mary Onuoha, coordinator of the Women’s Faith Fellowship Organization, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the women, noting that the empowerment equipment would significantly enhance their lives and those of their families.
* Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, through his foundation, has visited Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Umueze-Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area, who have been severely impacted by recent flooding.
During his address at Nkwo Umueze-Anam, Ozigbo expressed deep concern over the devastating impact of the natural disaster on the community. While acknowledging that the relief materials provided by his foundation and other donors may not fully address the community’s needs, he emphasized that the gesture symbolizes solidarity with the affected residents.
The foundation distributed various relief items including: cartons of noodles, bathing soap, washing soap, detergent and cash support
* The Anambra State Head of Service, Lady Theodore Igwegbe, has felicitated with Mrs. Nonye Soludo on the award she received as the most supportive governor’s wife and the voice of the voiceless during the 2024 Press Week and Man of the Year Awards of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council.
The felicitation came shortly after receiving the award on behalf of the governor’s wife at the Ezeemo International Press Center, Awka, venue of the event themed ‘The Media, And Trajectories For Anambra State’s Future In A Dwindling Economy’.
Speaking to journalists, the HOS noted that the award was properly considered and a pointer to the fact that Anambra people appreciate the selfless services the wife of the governor renders to people in the state and beyond.
* The Anambra State Housing Commissioner, Hon Pauly Onyeka, said the giant strides of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration in road construction has triggered an upsurge in the real estate business in the state.
Onyeka who made this known in a chat with journalists in his office in Awka, October 31, said the several major Road Projects currently being executed across the state and connecting hitherto inaccessible areas, had sparked a rise in real estate investments.
He gave as an example, the Amansea to Ebenebe road project, pointing out that land values in the area had been catapulted from around N500, 000 per plot to between N3 million and N4 million, respectively, due to improved accessibility.
* The silver jubilee of the 1998 set of Agulu Grammar School (AGS) has brought excitement and school spirit to the community with an inter-school football tournament that has seen impressive displays of talent and teamwork.

* In a passionate call to action, Professor Benard Ifeanyi Odoh, Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), has urged the university’s alumni to play a pivotal role in advancing their alma mater.
Speaking at the Annual International Convention of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Association held in Enugu, Odoh highlighted the substantial impact that alumni contributions have on institutions worldwide, stressing the need for similar commitment within UNIZIK’s alumni network.
Prof. Odoh, himself an alumnus of UNIZIK, emphasized that the relationship between alumni and their alma mater should be mutually beneficial. He noted that while alumni give back to strengthen the university, the institution should also provide valuable support and resources to its graduates.
* The Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon. Emeka Orji, has awarded sweeping contract for most major roads in the area to Rytec Company Limited.
Orji while giving reasons for the award of the contract, said that it is an eyesore to see the newly constructed roads by Governor Soludo being littered with dirts, reiterating that Onitsha South under his watch must queue into the agenda of a clean, green and healthy Anambra State.
The Coordinator of Onitsha South Street Sweepers, Mrs Chioma Eze, speaking shortly after the inauguration, while lauding Orji for the award of the contract noted that they started the sweeping exercise on February 2024 and had to stop due to conduct of election.
* The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi SAN, has warned that local government elections conducted without six months’ notice would face nullification.
Olasunkanmi stated this at the 12th convocation of Afe Babalola University in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
According to him, any state governor who fails to give six months’ notice before conducting local government elections will face nullification in courts.
This comes after the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) conducted local government polls in the state on September 28, with only one month’s notice to political parties and candidates.
