* Anambra State government has sealed two  major deals with the Afrexim Bank. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the ongoing IntraAfrican Trade Fair, IATF 2023 holding in Cairo, Egypt. ANN reports that Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Mr. Mark Okoye and President of Afreximbank, Professor Benedict Oramah jointly put hands on paper to endorse the deals which has prospects of a glorious transformation for the state.

* Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, has suspended a member of staff of the institution, Nwafor Ogbonnaya Nwesuzor, for certificate forgery. Nwafor allegedly forged his degree and the National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC) exclusion certificate in his desperation to secure a job in the university. But the bubble burst when Nwafor wrote to the University requesting to change his degree result. The Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor on Public Relations and Special Duties, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, disclosed these in a statement made available to newsmen.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Engr Chris Obiorah has commissioned different projects to mark his one year in office. Some of the projects are the reconstructed Nnewi North Local Government Area Universal Basic Education Building and modern solar powered borehole project at Okpuno Uruagu Primary Health Center.

He also inspected the ongoing renovation of the administrative building in the local government headquarters and took a delivery of over 4000 copies of exercise books to be distributed to pupils and students in public schools in Nnewi North Local Government Area.

* Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, the wife of the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, has explained how her committee arrived at 322 persons allegedly killed in Anambra State. She said the mass grave had been sealed off for forensic investigation. ANN reports that the Anambra Truth, Justice and Peace Commission was constituted by Gov. Charles Soludo in June 2022 to inquire into the violent agitations, and restiveness in the state and in neighbouring states.

* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has urged the judiciary to be alive to their responsibilities not only as the last resort for the common man but for everyone. Soludo made the appeal during a  Eucharistic thanksgiving mass to mark the commencement of the Anambra State Judiciary 2023/2024 legal year. Represented by his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Soludo encouraged Nigerians to remain focused, assuring them that there is considerable light at the end of the tunnel.

* The Chief Judge of Anambra State Hon. Justice Onochie M. Anyachebelu has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to give the welfare of the Judiciary arm, a priority in the new legal year. ANN reports that Anyachebelu while speaking at the judiciary 2023/2024 legal year ceremonies with the theme “Delivery of Justice: Public Perception and Reality”, held at the Anambra state judiciary headquarters Awka on Friday, called on Judges to enhence the delivery of justice in the state.

* Professor Chukwuma Soludo has congratulate former Governor of Anambra state Dame (Dr.) Virgy Etiaba on the occasion of her 81st birthday celebration. ANN reports that Dame Virgy Etiaba, a native of Nnewi, was former Governor of Anambra State from November 2006 to February 2007, making her the first woman to serve as governor of a Nigerian state. Soludo in a message signed by Mr. Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to the Governor, congratulated her on behalf of the state and its citizens, for reaching this amazing milestone and for her dedicated service to our great state.

* Ndi Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka LHA of Anambra State, have called on the Anambra State Government to probe an indigenous contractor from the area, Master Holdings, over what they called the quick dilapidation of the Nkwo Enugwu-Ukwu link road. Some stakeholders of the community told newsmen that the road which was done less than three years ago under the Governor Willie Obiano administration, had already collapsed.

* As the dry season gradually sets in, the Anambra State Chief Fire Officer, Engineer Martin Agbili, has advised residents of the state to embark on early weeding of grass in their surroundings to avoid possible fire spread.

Engineer Agbili stated this during a flagship phone-in radio program, “Issues” with the topic, “Curbing fire outbreak in our environment”, said that early cleanup of overgrown grass around houses, business places and markets is the first precautionary measure that should be taken by all before the arrival of harmattan season.
