* The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Chief Obiorah Nwachukwu has described the Governor as a trail-blazer who has positively changed the infrastructural status of the state in the less than two years of his administration. Speaking in Awka, Chief Nwachukwu who extolled the leadership qualities of Governor Soludo, noted that the Governor has truly turned Anambra into a one huge construction site where quality road constructions and reconstructions are concurrently ongoing across the 21 local government areas of the state, as well as the Awka capital city.
* The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye has vowed that the Command will hunt down and bring to justice the killers of the Nanka Ward Chairman of Young Progressive Party (YPP). CP Adeoye who condemned the killing in strongest possible terms described the killers as cowards who have murdered sleep.Â
* Anambra Governor’s wife and founder of the non-governmental organization, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has called for reevaluation of dietary lifestyle and physical habits in the face of growing mortalities resulting from diabetes. Mrs Soludo, who stated this in a statement to mark the 2023 World Diabetes Day in Awka, observed that part of the vision of her NGO is to preach healthy lifestyle as an important factor to fighting deadly diseases such as diabetes. The governor’s wife referred to the 2021 report by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) that over 537 million adults globally, representing one in every ten, between 20 to 79 years age bracket are living with diabetes, with an estimation that the number could rise to 643 million by 2030 and 783 million by 2045.
* The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye has assured the good people of the State that their safety remains the most important priority of the Command. ANN reports that the attention of Anambra State Police Command has been drawn to a story making the rounds on social media claiming that Umunze in Orumba South LGA is the headquarters of Eastern Security Network (ESN) and that the Police regard the town as a “No-Go-Area”. In a release by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command Awka, while sympathising with the kidnap victim who was allegedly held for four days in the area, stated that it is important to let the public know that the claims attributed to the man is false and baseless.
* Stakeholders in the education sector have expressed concerns over the continued dwindling fortune of the sector due to poor funding and other economic challenges in the country. Their concerns were made known at the 2023 National Hybrid Conference organized by the Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, at the ASUU-NAU Secretariat of the Institution.
* Anambra State Government through Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) has commenced the asphalting of Kwata road Awka, Awka South Local Government Area.
Speaking during the exercise, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko said that the work is in line with the agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in giving Ndi Anambra a livable and prosperous homeland.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Mr Felix Ikechi has visited and donated textbooks to Anglican Grammar School Odekpe, Anambra West Local Government Area. Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Ikechi reiterated the government’s total commitment to qualitative and affordable education in the state, and noted that what he has done was to complement the efforts of the Anambra State Government in education development. He described education as one of the greatest investments for the future and noted that the first phase of the textbook’s distribution covers the core subjects of English and Mathematics which he believed would enhance the learning experience of the students.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji, has called for the reintroduction of Chinua Achebe’s magnum opus, ‘Things Fall Apart,’ into the secondary school curriculum. Onyenji made the call in his office. He emphasized the enduring importance of ‘Things Fall Apart’, which has been translated into over 200 languages worldwide; even as he underscored the cultural and historical significance embedded in the literary masterpiece.
* The Transition Committee chairman for Anaocha Local Government Area, Chief Gerald Ozoh has reconstructed a dilapidated two-story building, housing the administrative office and examination hall at Orjiakor Memorial Grammar school Adazi Ani. Speaking while handing over the renovated structure to the school authority, Chief Ozoh said that what prompted him to renovate the structure to standard was to ensure that teachers and students of the school have a conducive environment
