# Indigenes of communities within Ihiala LGA of Anambra State, who had fled their residences because of the activities of insurgents posing as freedom fighters have started returning home.
For about five years, some communities in the area were taken completely by the insurgents who imposed fines before any family could hold marriages or burial ceremonies.
But recently, operatives of the Nigerian Army, working with personnel of other security agencies renewed their onslaught on the criminals and finally routed insurgents out, including their captured commander, Mr Ifeanyi Okorienta, also known as Gentle de Yahoo, leading to the cleansing of most captured areas.
In their appreciation letter to the Nigerian Army, through the office of the Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ihiala Local Government Area, and President General of Mbosi Town, Hon. Pastor Azuka Innocent Okolie, thanked the Commander of 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support) Onitsha Anambra State, Col BM Yakubu praising the army for their efforts
# The Government of Anambra State has been passionately asked to put interest and encourage the Annual Chinua Achebe Literary Festival and Memorial Lecture, yearly organized by the Society of Nigerian Young Writers (SYNW), Anambra State Chapter.
Former Vice-Chairman of the premier Igbo Sociocultural Movement, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene, made the appeal in his comments at the 10th Edition of the Prof Achebe Remembrance and Celebration Event held at the Prof Kenneth Dike E-Library in Awka, Anambra State.
Chief Okeke, who chaired the occasion, while commending the strenuous efforts being made by the organizers without assistance, extended the call for the Government to do whatever is needful to assist and encourage the very important initiative.
The Community Leader and Igbo Culture promoter, described the late literary icon, Achebe, as an institution from Igbo Land, Nigeria and Africa, recognized globally, requiring that nothing be spared to tap from his rich guiding legacies.
# Owners of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Southeast and other parts of Nigeria have been urged to leverage opportunities in the nation’s capital market to help achieve President Bola Tinubu’s vision of a $1 trillion economy.
The call was made in Awka during a two-day conference organized by the UNIZIK Centre for Capital Market Studies (UCCMS), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Entrepreneurship Development, Chalya Shagaya, said the Federal Government had made SMEs a key priority in its economic agenda.
Shagaya emphasized that President Tinubu views SMEs as the cornerstone for attaining a $1 trillion economy, anchored on enterprise, productivity, and innovation.
# The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Old Motor Spears Parts, Ngbuka Obosi in Idemili North LGA, Anambra State, Chief Samuel Ifurunwa “Igwe”, said he was able to advance in his leadership in the market as a result of good administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Addressing newsmen in his office, Chief Ifurunwa said before his appointment by Governor Soludo as the chairman of the market, there were pending cases, which included, illegal levies, lack of standard toilet, insecurity, lack of potable water, among others.
The Chairman also added that most of the cases in the market before were as a result of not giving the traders listing ear.
He noted that his office is 24 hours open to every trader to lodge his or her complaint or make a suggestion that could better the welfare of the traders. He further revealed that no more illegal collection of levies in the market.

The MD/CEO, who went deep into a recollection of Prof Achebe’s monumental record in the areas of life he created phenomenal impacts, described the Ogidi, Anambra State-born Academic and Technocrat as a global colossus whose guiding contributions to human development must be captured.
Earlier while introducing his group and mission, the Coordinator, Mr Izunna Okafor, explained the role of his group in the literary field and the interest in the writing giant, Achebe.
According to Okafor, the group was set to celebrate the tenth year of its involvement in the Annual Chinua Achebe Celebration and Memorial Lecture through which the diverse aspects of Achebe’s legacies are identified and highlighted.
Mr Izunna Okafor, a Media Practitioner and Award-winning Writer, solicited the assistance and encouragement of the ABS to his society’s good course, pointing out the strategic position of the powerful media outfit and its invaluable role in the project in focus.

Making this assertion while speaking to newsmen on Soludo victory and the election in general in his palace at Umudisi Abacha, Igwe Odiegwu who noted that he wasn’t in doubt whether the Governor will win before the election, explained that before the election that everybody could seen the enormous achievements achieved by the Solution administration.

# The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Owerri Zone, has issued an eight-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to address lingering grievances or face a full-scale industrial action.
Leadership of ASUU, Owerri zone, comprising Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Imo State University (IMSU) Owerri, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU) and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Awka, made the announcement on Thursday in a release signed by the zonal coordinator, Prof. Dennis Aribodor and issue to Journalists during a press conference, held at the ASUU -Unizik conference in Awka.
Prof. Aribodor maintained that the union would have no other alternative than to embarked on full blown industrial action from November 21st, 2025, if the Federal Government of Nigeria failed to address their long time demands.
Aribodor said the briefing was convened to alert stakeholders that “time is running out” to avert another nationwide shutdown of public universities.
He said the union had reviewed government’s actions since the suspension of the warning strike and found “no meaningful progress,” insisting that the proposed salary adjustment was not enough to retain or motivate university lecturers.

They maintained that financial disciple, accountability and keeping records are vital determinants that will motivate and attract investors to assist SME’s grow their business, noting that the capital market is not just for billionaires but a platform connecting small business owners with investors and long-term funding opportunities.
