* Two armed men have been arrested in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, for stealing bags of bitter kola that worth over one million naira. The two suspected criminals, identified as Onyenachiya Emmanuel (from Afube village in Amichi) and Chigbo Okeke (also from Amichi), were said to have also stolen the phones, ATM cards, and some raw cash belonging to the young lady who owns the bitter kola, after which they also raped her turn after turn.
* The Transition Committee chairman of Anaocha local government area, Chief Gerald Ozoh has charged parents and caregivers to make their children and wards available for the ongoing immunization exercise against Polio.
Speaking on the importance of the ongoing vaccination against Polio across Anambra State, Chief Ozoh who described Polio as a dangerous ailment capable of retarding the growth and Progress of any child if not detected early, called on parents and caregivers to present their children within the ages of zero to fifty-nine months for the immunization to secure a brighter future for them.
* Tansi International College, Awka, has organised a post trauma session for its students, to ease their minds off the recent incident of death in the school. A week ago, students of the college who were involved in football training during rainfall were struck by lightening, leading to death of three out of the nine students caught in the incident. Principal of the College, Rev Fr Fidelis Izuakor, who spoke during the session said the essence of the psychosocial intervention was to rehabilitate the students from shock and trauma resulting from the deaths of their mates.
* The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Chief Basil Ejidike has accused the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) government of having underdeveloped the state since it took over power and that Anambra is currently the least state in the Southeast region in terms of infrastructural development. Ejidike said Ebonyi State which was created just few years ago is now the pride of the Southeast because of the monumental achievements as well as infrastructural developments instituted by the APC government in the state. He stated in very strong terms that the ruling APGA will die a natural death in 2025 as APC is coming to replicate another tsunami in the state.
* Anambra State Government has sealed off Dvora Hostel situated in Igbariam, Anambra East Local Government Area for suspicions that the integrity of the building might be compromised.
ANN reports that government through the Anambra State Physical Planning Board carried out the exercise after a video of the structure surfaced online. The Chairman of the Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe said that in the meantime, the building has been evacuated, while the Engineer who built the structure has been directed to approach the state Material Testing Laboratory to conduct several mandatory tests before today Tuesday fourteenth November, 2023.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has visited training centre of the second batch of skills acquisition at the council secretariat, Ojoto. Hon. Obi who was pleased by the standard obtainable in the various sections advised beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity created by Idemili South Local Government not just to be self-reliant but also employers of labour.
* Members of the Anambra State Executive Council on Wednesday offered their condolences on the death of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s father, late Pa Simeon Soludo who passed on at age ninety-two. The Executive Council offered their sympathy and support by observing a minute silence, after which their condolence message was delivered by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim and Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu.
The Executive Council members expressed their sadness over the Governor’s loss and also reassured the Governor of their support. The Governor thanked them for their kind words and support during this tough time.
* The Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim says the quest for earthly wealth and riches lead many to sin against God and caused the society to lose its moral and strong values. Archbishop Ibezim said this at the Cathedral Church Of Saint Faith Awka during a service of confirmation of three thousand persons and admission of others into Women’s Guild and Christian Men’s Fellowship of the Diocese Of Awka
* The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Chief Basil Ejidike, has stated in very strong terms that the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will die a natural death in 2025 as APC is coming to replicate another tsunami in the state. He also disclosed that the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, would join the APC.
