* The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has called on wealthy individuals and groups to come forward and support victims of this year’s flood disaster in Anambra State.

Speaking at the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA office in Awka, during the inspection of relief materials worth two hundred and fifty million naira, donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints to Anambra State for victims of 2024 flood disaster in the state.

Ibezim who is also the Chairman, Anambra State Flood Committee, during the event disclosed that Anambra has not recorded any casualty in any of the communities being ravaged by the flood as well as the holding centres, and commended members of Church for remembering the State.

 

*  In alignment with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of “Everything Technology and Technology Everywhere,” the Anambra State Government has made significant progress in providing free, high-speed internet access across the state through the Solution Wi-Fi Initiative.

This project is part of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model that the Soludo administration adopted to drive Anambra’s digital revolution, ensuring that technological advancement benefits every resident.

Launched as a pilot with three strategic locations—Aroma Junction, Book Foundation, and School Gate Ifite—the Solution Wi-Fi Initiative has rapidly expanded, now connecting 14 additional locations across Anambra.

 

* Chairman Anambra State Football Association and Former Super Eagles defender Chikelue Iloenyosi has urged Nigeria fans to give Victor Boniface time, believing that he will start scoring for the country.

“Boniface is a fantastic player. We need to give him time. He’s doing well in his club, and once he starts scoring for the country, he has the potential to become a top goalscorer,” Iloenyosi said.

“Bundesliga is all about fitness; if you’re not fit, you can’t play. Boniface is a fantastic player, very obedient, and a nice boy. I’m supporting him in everything,” Iloenyosi added.

The 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen forward will hope to get his first goal for Nigeria during the two upcoming AFCON qualifiers matches against Benin and Rwanda after going nine games without finding the back of the net.

 

* The Managing Director, Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, (ANSIPPA) Mr. Mark Okoye says Awka shopping Mall aimed at creating seven hundred Jobs will be completed in March 2025.

Okoye disclosed this at the second edition of Anambra State investment summit held at the International Convention Center in Awka recently.

According to Mr Okoye, when that is achieved it will transform Awka from a departure lounge to a destination and expressed satisfaction that Anambra State government is now enjoying the collaboration of both private and the Federal government in the area of investment as the National Agricultural Land Development Agency is partnering the State to develop up to two thousand hectares of land for mechanized farming.

 

* The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, has commissioned over fifty solar-powered street lights installed by the Deputy Majority Leader and member representing Njikoka Constituency Two, Dr. Jude Akpua in the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The project was inaugurated at Etiti Village, Nimo, Ward One, in Njikoka Local Government Area.

In his remark, Obiogbolu praised Akpua for his alignment with the Soludo administration’s vision for community development.

He described the lawmaker as a staunch supporter of the state government and a key figure in replicating Governor Soludo’s development agenda at the constituency level.

 

* Umunuko, Ukpor Community in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State is about to get a face-lift following the discovery of Kaolin deposits and installation of Kaolin Processing Plant in their community.

The Managing Director/CEO of Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company, Prof. Charles Ofoegbu during his tour to the site to ascertain the progress of the work assured that the project would be delivered and commissioned by Governor Chukwuma Soludo by end of January, 2025.

Ofoegbu noted that the old mill has been fully refurbished, assembled and put in place while they await the arrival of the R3 which has been ordered and will occupy the fourth end of the factory house.

 

* As the Yuletide season approaches, the Patron Enugwu-Ukwu Widows Association, Ozonkpu Nduka Okoye, a renowned philanthropist and businessman, has made a passionate appeal to illustrious sons and daughters of Enugwu-Ukwu to join forces in supporting widows in the community.

This call to action follows Ozonkpu Nduka Okoye previous donation of over N10 millionaire worth of cash, gift items, and foodstuffs to the Enugwu-Ukwu Widows Association in August this year.

During this season of love and giving, let us remember our vulnerable sisters and mothers who have lost their breadwinners,” Ozonkpu Ubinaemenni Enugwu-ukwu Na Umunri said. “Your support will bring joy and hope to their lives.

 

* Anambra State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ten development partners.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo signed the agreement on behalf of the state government at the Second edition of the Anambra State Investment Summit, at the International Convention Centre in Awka.

They development partners and their projects include the National Agricultural Land Development Authority for the development of agro land, Genesis Energy and VFD Energy for the development of Independent Power Plants, Axxela Limited for gas reticulation, MP Infrastructure, for the development of Onitsha New City and Marich International, for the development of Awkuzu Park.

Others are JNC International for Anambra Oncology Center, CardinalStone for Anambra Development Investment Corporation, United Nations Development Programme for the development of MakerSpace Hub.

 

* Anambra State High Court sitting in Ogidi has adjourned till 29th November and 3rd December the murder case the state government brought against one Chiugo Ajuluchukwu from Umuezema Village Ojoto in Idemili South Local Goverment Area of the state.

Professional witnesses shall be testifying on the next adjourned date against Mr Ajuluchukwu who is accused of killing his stepmother, Ifeoma Ajuluchukwu, on or about 15th January, 2024 by beating her till she fell down, was hospitalized and died, offence contrary to Section 274(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 36, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Anambra State 1991.

A Prosecution Witness, Oluchukwu Ajuluchukwu, had informed the court presided over by Justice Emeka Okuma that the defendant, Chiugo, on the ill-fated Monday, arrived his stepmother’s residence with his son and started removing the roof and ceiling of the place where she was sleeping.

 

* The Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Mr. Rome Ibekwe has urged stakeholders and the public to join forces to combat crime and insecurity.

Speaking at a security summit held at the Neni council secretariat, Ibekwe emphasized the need for collective action against negative narratives that could jeopardize security during the upcoming yuletide season in Anaocha and its surrounding areas.

He praised the Nigerian Police and Anaocha Vigilant for their dedication to security. He also thanked Governor Soludo for construction of Ekwulobia-Nanka-Agulu-Amawbia Road and the dualization of Agulu-Nnobi-Nnewi Road with streetlights.

Ibekwe highlighted other ongoing projects, such as the Agulu Lake tourism initiative, poised to transform Anaocha and Anambra into a premier tourist destination, driving growth and development.
