# A wave of transformation currently sweeping through Ogbaru Main Market, popularly known as Relief Market, in Ogbaru LGA has continued to attract praise for the President-General, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu (Madu Adichie of Oraukwu).

Traders and officials in the market say Ochiogu’s reforms, especially the decongestion and expansion of access routes—have restored order and improved business operations.

Among those applauding the efforts is the Market Chairman of Works, Mr. Apeh Emeka, who described the ongoing changes as “remarkable and long overdue.”

Apeh said the President-General has faithfully implemented the directives of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Markets, Chief Sir Everist Uba, aimed at creating more space within the market to ease movement.

According to him, the impact is already visible across all lines.

# The Head of the Department of History and International Studies, at Legacy University, Okija, Mr. Vincent Ezeme has been elected as the Chairman of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Association, Onitsha branch, for a three year tenure.

Ezeme emerged victorious after a keenly contested election held on Sunday, 16th November 2025, wherein Ms. Chiemerie Onuchukwu was also elected as the branch secretary, alongside other elected executive officers of the association.

Announcing the results, the chairman of the Electoral committee, Barrister Ejiofo Umegbogu said Mr. Vincent Ezeme pulled the highest number of votes cast, and fulfilled all other requirements of the by-law of the Association.

Ezeme will succeed, Dr. Mrs. Amala Iluno in office with effect from 21st December, 2025, when the tenure of the incumbent shall elapse.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ezeme said that the association, during his tenure, will focus more on making positive impacts in their immediate environment, and to give back to the university that groomed them.

# The Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council (ASTRC), His Majesty, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Iweka III of Obosi Ukwalla kingdom has urged human beings to develop the willingness to serve each other by extending love and care to people around them, especially to the physically and mentally challenged, abandoned or less privileged in the society.

Igwe Chidubem Iweka made the call during the Grand Opening/Support Day of Somadina Orphanage and Challenged Foundation Facility at Christ Army Lane,opposite Odenigbo Radio FM, Uruowulu, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State.

“Somadina Orphanage and Challenged Foundation is all about humanitarian service. It is an Non Governmental Organization NGO proper.

“We are in this world to serve. The world will be a beautiful place if we all decide to serve each other, when you are willing to serve me and I am also willing to serve you selflessly,” said Eze Iweka III.

# In a bid to eliminate unknown gunmen from their locations within Anambra State, the Special Adviser on Community Security to Governor Charles Soludo, Prince Ken Emeakayi has called on Agunechemba operatives to quickly take control of all camps used by criminal elements across the State.

Emeakayi made the appeal during a meeting with the leaders of the grassroots security operatives, commending their efforts in preventing the youth from engaging in kidnap for ransom rather than seeking lawful means of income.

Assuring the community, especially those affected by the criminal youth who had dominated the forests for some time before Agunechemba’s intervention.

Prince Emeakayi noted that they are now better equipped, thanks to Governor Soludo, with advanced cameras and earth-moving vehicles aimed at driving the criminals out of the State.

# Police in Anambra State with the assistance of local security outfit have arrested one Chigbo Umeugokwe, male, 20 years old of Umuezeiyi Village Achina, Aguata LGA for armed robbery and defilement of a 13 -year old girl.

In a statement by the command spokesman SP Ikenga Tochukwu on Tuesday,Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gender unit, Awka with the assistance of the local community security outfit arrested the suspect on 11th November 2025.

According to the statement, the suspect allegedly invaded a shop in the same community, on 29th October 2025 with a locally made single- barrel gun with a small axe.

It stated that the suspect was said to have worn a red polo shirt which he fashioned into a face mask and abducted a 13-year old girl, took her to a nearby bush where he forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

# The President-General of Ogbaru Main Market, popularly known as Relief Market, Chief Patrick Ndubuisi Ochiogu, has introduced fresh measures to decongest the market and improve safety.

As part of the ongoing reforms, Ochiogu directed traders in all sections to remove shanties and raise their roofs to create more space and ensure that trailers and other delivery vehicles can easily access every line within the market.

Ogbaru Main Market is known for the cordial relationship between the president-general and his executive members, a factor traders say has helped maintain unity and progress within the market.

While conducting journalists around the market, Ochiogu explained that part of the reforms include the provision of additional safety water tanks as the dry season approaches.

# The 17th National Conference of the Association of Papal Knights and Medalists in Nigeria has been held at the Madonna Renewal Centre, Nkpor, Onitsha, with the theme Hope, Faith, and Charity in Contemporary Societies.

The four-day event, which commenced on the 13th and ended on the 16th of November 2025, featured a series of activities including courtesy visits, special Masses, and a gala night.

The conference began with an opening Mass at the Madonna Renewal Centre Chapel, officiated by the Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, who also served as the keynote speaker.

Delivering his keynote address, Archbishop Okeke emphasized the importance of sacrifice in building a better society, noting that true transformation requires selfless service. He recounted his 23 years of episcopal service, highlighting that he has spent every Christmas, Easter, and birthday with prisoners; a humanitarian act that earned him the honour of Grand Patron of Nigerian Prisons, bestowed by the overall President of the Nigerian Prisons Service.

Also speaking, the guest speaker and Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, delved into the theme of the conference, stressing that hope, faith, and charity are core virtues that guide every Christian’s walk with God. He described faith as the foundation upon which the Christian life is built and urged members of the association to embody these virtues in their daily conduct.

# The Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, came alive with excitement as the SEITAC Initiative, in partnership with the Anambra State Government, unveiled the groundbreaking Acquarescue Project and hosted an inspiring seminar on the Snail Value Chain, a powerful gathering of innovation, empowerment, and community action.

Speaking at the event, with the theme “Saving Lives, Building Resilience Technology and Community at the Heart of Water Disaster Response,” the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, described the initiative as urgent and essential.

Obinabo stressed that flooding remains one of Africa’s most pressing threats, destroying homes, livelihoods, and economic foundations, making it critical to introduce smart solutions and educate communities on flood mitigation.

Unveiling the project, the Founder, Engr. Uzo Okoye described Acquarescue as a visionary life-saving project built on three powerful pillars: to Predict, Prevent, and Rescue.

He explained that the project leverages cutting-edge digital intelligence and a rescue mobile app designed to provide early warnings, alerts, and rapid response during water emergencies putting safety directly in the hands of communities.
