* Fidelis Ilechukwu, the Technical Adviser for Rangers International of Enugu and Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles, recently visited HRH Keneth Onyeneke Orizu, the Igwe of Nnewi, to express gratitude and seek royal blessings.

The purpose of the visit was twofold: to acknowledged the significant contributions of Igwe Orizu to the Nnewi community and Anambra State, as well as to foster a positive relationship between the football club and the royal institution.

During the visit, Ilechukwu presented the Igwe with both home and away jerseys of Rangers as a gesture of appreciation for his dedication to the community’s advancement.

In response, Igwe Orizu extended his blessings to Ilechukwu and his team, wishing them success in the current NPFL campaign.

 

* Officers in charge of primary healthcare centres and members of Ward Development Committees (WDCs) in Anambra State have been urged to improve on their relationship as part of delivery efforts towards improved efficient delivery of healthcare services at the grassroots.

The Director, Justice Development and Peace Caritas, (JDPC), Nnewi, Rev. Fr. Ben Okolo, gave the charge during a Capacity Strengthening Workshop organized in collaboration with the Community Development Network, COMEN, and Civil Right Concern, (CRC), under the Strengthening Public Accountability for Results and Knolwedge, SPARK 2 project, supported by International Budget Partnership, (IBP), for OICs and WDC chairpersons from Anambra North Senatorial District.

According to the Director, the event reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the primary health care system in Anambra state with maternal and child health care as entry point for broader system-wide improvements.

 

* The Chairman of Dunukofia Local Government Area Barr. Chijioke Ozumba
has paid a visit to thetsurvivor of the recent attack on Ukpo Vigilante Group, Mr. Angus Nweke, who is currently responding to treatment in an hospital.

Ozumba also visited and condoled with the family of the slain Vigilante Member, Mr. Joel Anisi and Ukpo community over the unfortunate loss of life in the recent heartless attack on the community Vigilante Group.

Speaking during the visits, Barr. Ozumba condemned such dastardly attack on the community, especially against the security operatives. He called on the Nigeria Police Force to intensify their efforts to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly acts, as well as bring the culprits to face the full wrath of the law.

 

* The Mayor of Anaocha Council Area, Comrade Rome Ibekwe, has flagged off the construction of an erosion site on Neni axis of the Nimo-Neni-Nnewi Road.

The erosion site, which is about twenty-two feet deep, and a drainage of about nine hundred meters length, will take the contractor handling them about a year and six months to complete, and are being executed under a Public-Private-Community Partnership initiative.

Flagging off the construction work, Ibekwe said the gully erosion site would cause more harm to residents if the intervention is not undertaken urgently; as it is now threatening to cut off the road.

The Mayor of Anaocha promised that his administration will continue to key into Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision and agenda of strengthening public infrastructure, while calling on affluent members of the society to join hands with them to take Anaocha to greater heights.

* His Royal Highness Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu Ezeoranyelu Eze Ojoto (III), the traditional ruler of Ojoto community in Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has declared that there is no crisis or civil unrest whatsoever in his community.

Mbamalu who spoke concerning  orchestrated attempts by a certain Chief Dennis Okafor who attempted to crown himself Igwe Ojoto in an uncompleted building as against government directives, said as the Chief Security Officer of Ojoto community, he could categorically say that Ojoto is calm and peaceful and everyone in the community is going about their lawful businesses contrary to

fake online news reports of imaginary crisis in the community.

Igwe Mbamalu further disclosed that the claim by sponsored bloggers that a certain DSS report on Anambra traditional stool saga was missing from the Government House was nothing but a mirage as no such documents existed.

 

* The member representing Anambra East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Obi Nweke, said that the 2025 Anambra Appropriation Bill presented to the House is an improvement on the 2024 bill.

Hon. Nweke, who made this known after the Governor presented the budget of six hundred and seven billion naira to the legislature, expressed satisfaction that the capital expenditure was giving a priority attention in the budget, saying that education, health, security, works, social security, youth empowerment will receive substantial attention.

The Anambra lawmaker who said that the House will give the budget accelerated hearing, promised Ndi Anambra East that he will continue to attract dividends of democracy to them.

 

* The Chairman of Aguluezechukwu Improvement Union, Awka Branch, Architect Chukwuka Okonkwo, has applauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s developmental strides in all sectors of the state economy.

Speaking to newsmen in Awka, Architect Okonkwo, who extolled the Governor for massive developments in all the critical sectors of the State economy, paid glowing encomiums to the Soludo administration in the areas of cleanliness and environmental regeneration and protection.

The Aguluezechukwu Improvement Union Awka Chairman also commended the State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Felix Odimegwu, and the Managing Director of Anambra State Waste Management Authority, ASWAMA, Mr. Mike Ozoemena, for their proactiveness and diligent in duty, as well as the encouragements they give to all the contractors working under them to deliver a clean, green and liveable homeland agenda of the State government.

* The member representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Maureen Gwacham has called for unwavering support for women’s involvement in political leadership, particularly in this era where exclusive male leadership has shown limitations in addressing the full spectrum of societal challenges.

Gwacham led this initiative at a two-day programme organised by Advance Women Participation and Representation, titled Female Legislator and Constituency Outreach, held in Awka, Anambra State, recently.

The programme sought to empower women in Oyi/Ayamelum to assert their rightful place in leadership, encouraging them to become agents of ” Positive Change” within their families, communities, and the broader society.

 

* The member representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Prof. Lilian Orogbu has commenced the renovation of Community Secondary School, Mbaukwu.

The project includes the provision of essential education materials and learning aids to enhance the students’ academic experience.

Speaking on the project, the lawmaker
reaffirming her commitment to transparency and accountability.

She stated that It is part of her broader efforts to improve educational infrastructure and empower her constituents.

 

* The Management, staff, students; including the old girls and the friends of St John of God Secondary School, Awka, gathered to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the school.

In a homily during the Mass, Bishop Ezeokafor, who emphasized the essence of Catholic Education, which, he said, was to balance the academic need with the spiritual need of a child, appealed to parents to have adequate time for their children’s upbringing.

The Bishop regretted that parents nowadays overemphasized academic work without considering the moral lives of their children, arguing that it was the obligation of parents to teach their children the basic prayers of the Church and the basic conducts and ways of living, at home.
