# Supporters of Governor Chukwuma Soludo have urged him to redouble his efforts in developing all parts of the state to justify the trust bestowed on him by the people in re-electing him in last two week’s governorship election.
The supporters from Nteje Community in Oyi LGA gathered at the palace of their traditional ruler-elect, Chief Chris Nnebo, to celebrate the victory of the governor, saying it was well deserved.
The Igwe-elect, Nnebo, who spoke with journalists in the course of the event said the governor had done well and that was why the entire Anambra voted him last two weeks.
# The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected member of a proscribed Secessionists Group following an early morning intelligence-led operation as Police operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu apprehended one Friday Nnamdi Anyikame, male, 25 years, in Ihiala and recovered 2 (two) pump-action firearms and 29 (twenty-nine) live cartridges.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being an active member of an armed group and revealed that he operates from a criminal camp located in Ogbaru LGA.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, while commending the operatives for their swift and coordinated response, ordered an immediate intensification of security surveillance and targeted raid operations across the State.
He further assured residents that the Command is already closing in on other fleeing members of the gang and is determined to dismantle their criminal network in Anambra.
The CP urges Ndi Anambra to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police with timely and actionable information that will aid ongoing security operations.
# The Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has warmly received Mr. Michael Ndibe of St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu, who at the 2025 President and Schools’ Excellence Award, won the first runner-up for best approved private senior secondary school teacher in Nigeria.
The Bishop, while interacting with Mr. Ndibe in the presence of the Manger and Principal of St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu, Rev. Fr. Martin Ekee; and the Education Secretary of Awka Diocese, Rev. Fr. Maximus Okonkwo, described the achievement of Mr. Ndibe as very historic. He noted that such feat encouraged both the Government of Anambra State and the Church to do more in the education of young people.
Mr. Emmanuel Ndibe is a Chemistry teacher at St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu, and was among the nine Anambrians who distinguished themselves at the 2025 President and Schools’ Excellence Award which took place at Eagles Square Abuja on 5 October 2025 as part of activities marking World Teachers’ Day.
According to the Bishop, ‘Creating enabling environment for academic growth and providing incentives to those who distinguished themselves in their different fields give hope to the younger ones.’
# The youth wing of Anambra State Town Unions Council (ASTUC) has conferred a prestigious Supper Mega Role Model of Anambra South extraction on Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo in recognition of his outstanding philanthropic contributions and unwavering support for the youths of Anambra State, and inducted him into the ASTUC youth wing advisory council.
The honour was presented during the Grand Celebration of Anambra Community Role Models 2025 held at the ASTUC Secretariat in Awka, where dignitaries, Traditional rulers, youth leaders, and community stakeholders gathered to celebrate individuals making positive impact in the state.
In his citation, the Anambra State Commissioner for information, Dr. Law Mefor while presenting the award praised Chief Onunkwo for his consistent commitment to youth empowerment, community development, and social welfare initiatives, describing him as a shining example of leadership and selfless service.
He noted that his contributions have continued to inspire confidence, hope, and progress among young people across various communities in Anambra State.
# Regina Caeli College of Nursing Sciences, Awka, Anambra State, recently received an accreditation team from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the physical and human resources available for the commencement of the institution’s Diploma in Nursing Programme.
The delegation first paid a courtesy visit to the Proprietor of the College, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor. After a brief introduction by the team, His Lordship warmly welcomed the visitors and expressed appreciation for the important assignment they were undertaking.
The NBTE delegation comprised the Principal Programme Officer, Fahad Abdallah; Representative of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Dr. Amarachi Okorie; and Mrs. Patricia Ngozi (Zonal Officer); the Director of Nursing Services, Anambra State, Mrs. Dike Christiana Ebere; and the Provost of Regina Caeli College of Nursing Sciences, Mrs. Anthonia Ngozi Igboka, among others.
The team embarked on an advisory and resource inspection of the institution. The assessment focused on verifying the adequacy of facilities and personnel required for the takeoff of the nursing programme.
# The Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu, said all is set for the enforcement of the Anambra state Environmental Management Protection and Administration Law 2024.
Speaking in his office at Jerome Udorji Secretariat, Awka, recently, Dr. Odimegwu maintained that Anambra State will no longer tolerate any form of irresponsible excavation, soil removal, or sand mining—especially near erosion-prone areas, gully sites, wetlands, watersheds, or natural drainage channels as well as any form earth-disturbing activities that cause environmental degradation or threaten community safety.
The Commissioner warned that operators would face prosecution and bear the full cost of environmental remediation, as
enforcement will commence on Monday,24th November, 2025.
Engr Odimegwu pointed out some key areas of the enforcement to include: Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Storm Water Control, Runoff Management, and Catchment systems, Setbacks and Drainage Infrastructure, Landscaping and Green Zone Requirements, Aesthetics and Urban Beautification Enforcement, Sewage, Wastewater, and Effluent Regulation, Regulation of Sand Mining and Earth-Disturbing Activities amongst others.
# A Priest Assistant, Church of The Holy Spirit (CHS) Awka, Rev. Augustine Otiji, has exhorted Christians to be courageous and faithful in serving God and humanity.
Rev. Otiji who spoke in a sermon with the theme: ”Dare to Be Daniel”, taken from Daniel 6:10–23; Hebrews 11:1–2; insisted that Christians must learn the courage of the biblical Daniel at all times.
The cleric said the theme challenged believers to live courageously and faithfully for God in a world that often rejected them. He further said that to dare meant to have courage and integrity in the face of danger, pressure, or opposition.
# The Anambra State Police Command has recovered a three-year-old girl who was stolen and trafficked across state lines, following an intelligence-driven operation by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
According to the press release, the recovery was made, after a case of conspiracy, child stealing, and harbouring was transferred to the RRS from the Ogbaru Police Division, Atani. Acting on sustained intelligence, the operatives located the child at Nnobi in Idemili South Local Government Area, and successfully reunited her with her distraught parents.
The PPRO revealed that preliminary investigations traced the crime to one Miss Chioma Anioma, an apprentice living with the victim’s family. SP Ikenga explained that Chioma allegedly stole the child and transported her to Calabar, Cross River State, where she reportedly sold the victim to another suspect now on the run.
