* The new chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Anambra State Chapter Comrade Chidi Chidebe said he will pursue 5-point agenda geared towards strengthening, rebuilding and solidifying the party for next year’s Governorship election and beyond.
He stated this during the official handover meeting between the new Executives of PDP and outgoing caretaker of the party.
According to Chidebe, the strategic agenda include reuniting and reconciling members to strengthen internal harmony; Enhancing party structure to ensure a resilient grassroots foundation; Building strategic partnerships with stakeholders, youth, and interest groups; Re-energizing electoral machinery for future elections; and Promoting accountability and transparency to build trust within their ranks.
* The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, Maku Olatunde, has commissioned a one-storey Cooperative Multipurpose building of NSCDC during its 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The event, which took place at the Cooperative house behind Nigeria Immigration State Headquarters, Agu Awka, Anambra State, on Friday 22nd of November 2024 was a significant milestone for the NSCDC Anambra Staff Cooperative, Investment and Credit Society Limited.
Comdt. Maku, who performed the commissioning on behalf of the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, commended the executives for their impressive achievement. He described the edifice as a testament to the cooperative’s commitment to providing quality services to its members.
Maku expressed his satisfaction with the management of the society stating that the project will not only generate income for the society but would enhance their operational capacity.
* The Commissioner for Education Anambra State, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has refuted the claims that the Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo closed down the schools in Nnewi.
She reiterated that the Governor never at any time ordered that schools be closed down in Anambra State for any reason as was reported in some sections of the media.
Reacting to the media report that Soludo orders school closures, Commissioner Chuma-Udeh stated that normal school activities went on in Anambra State.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, has described Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo as a statesman who is concerned about the future of Ndi Anambra, and the present condition of the state.
Speaking when he received the members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Angels News Network (ANN) Chapel, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Awka, Mefor maintained that the governor doesn’t make empty promises like the everyday politician but is more interested in what will become of the state in the next 10-50 years, just as he worries about the welfare of Ndi Anambra and the development of the state.
The Commissioner commended journalists in the state for the fair reportage and urged them to do more, even as he assured he would continue to run an open door policy to enable journalists to get firsthand and verified information.
In their separate speeches, the Chairman of Angels News Network Chapel of NUJ, Comrade Bonvera Onyebuchi Ndubuisi, and Dr. Ifeanyi Obiefuna said the visit was to identify with the Commissioner and the Information Ministry and assured of their readiness to promote the activities of the Ministry and the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
* A bill for a law to establish the Anambra State Indigenous Medicine and Traditional
Practices Agency and for other related purposes has scaled second reading at plenary.
The Majority Leader of the House Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme the sponsor of the bill said it seeks to addresses the growing recognition of indigenous medicine as a critical component of healthcare,
Hon. Ofodeme who is the member representing Ekwusigo Constituency stated that the bill is a proactive step towards promoting traditional practices while ensuring they adhere to safety and ethical standards.
Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze referred the bill to the committee on Health chaird by Hon. Tony Muobike.
* Annie Okonkwo Foundation has offered scholarship to one hundred and fifty students from various secondary schools in Anambra State.
The scholarship scheme tagged “Dreams To Degree” covers the WAEC fees and learning materials of the beneficiaries who are in Senior Secondary three class that passed the scholarship examination of the foundation.
Speaking after presentation of scholarship certificates to the students at Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka, the benefactor of the foundation and member Representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency at National Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Okonkwo, disclosed that the gesture is his own way of promoting education in the state.
* A Chieftan and aspirant of the All Progressive Congress APC, in the November 8th 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma says he knows the issues, and have the mental capacity them if fix them if given the opportunity to serve.
Chukwuma while briefing Journalists in preparation ahead of the next year gubernatorial election in the state at his country home Umueri, revealed that Anambra has no laid-down agreement on the rotation of power among the senatorial zones in the state for the governorship seat.
Speaking on education, Chukwuma who is the Pro-Chancellor Olivia University Bujumbura Burundi said the situation, particularly, in public primary and secondary schools at the rural areas has reached a dilapidated stage where students no longer stay comfortably to study.
* In a momentous achievement, Hon. Ifeyinwa Elizabeth Nkamigbo, the founder and owner of Wisdom Blessed Model School, has proudly announced that her institution has been named the best school in the state.

* President of Onitsha Country Club Fegge, Anietonwa Ajulufo, says efforts are on to make the club a breeding ground for national and international tennis and international champions.
While playing host to members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra Chapter on Sunday, Ajulufo
said the club was planning to set up tennis and table tennis academies.
Ajulufo who conducted SWAN members around the Club’s facility said the initiative was part of the Club’s contribution to addressing the problem of out of school children and youths in Fegge and the entire Onitsha through giving talented ones the opportunity to get a career in tennis.
* No fewer than 400 patients were treated of various ailments during a medical outreach in Aguluezechukwu, a community in Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The programme was organized by Hon. Chukwuma Izundu, Counsellor representing Aguluezechukwu at the Aguata Legislative Council, with support from Creative Minds Centre for Youths and Community Development.
Declaring the programme open, Hon. Izundu who is the Chief Whip of the Aguata Legislative Council, disclosed that the exercise was part of his election promise to bridge the gap in healthcare and improve the well-being of his people.
