# Governor Chukwuma Soludo at plenary on Tuesday, presented seven hundred and fifty seven (757) billion, eight hundrend and eighty four (884) million, four hundrend and eighty seven (487) thousand, seven hundred and five (705) naira, proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year to the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Tagged “Changing Gears 3.0: Solution Continues,” the budget represents a 24.1% increase from the outgoing 2025 budget, reflecting intensified focus on execution.

Presenting the budget, Governor Soludo said Administrative Sector has 12.2%, Economic Sector (26.7%), Social Sector (31.4%), Education (46.9%), Health (13%), and Infrastructure Investments (27.7%).

Soludo noted that these increases reflect priorities in strengthening human capital, boosting economic growth, expanding critical infrastructure, and securing the well-being of Ndi Anambra.

# The AIDS, TB and Malaria (ATM) Network in Anambra State has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led Government in achieving disease-control targets for HIV, TB, and Malaria in the state.

The group made this known during a meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, at the Jerome Udorji State Secretariat, Awka, the state capital.

The meeting is part of ATM’s advocacy drive to strengthen service delivery at Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and promote community ownership and utilization of PHCs in Anambra council areas.

Speaking on behalf of the group, TB Anambra State Coordinator, Ifeyinwa Unachukwu, emphasized the importance of strengthening primary healthcare service delivery through community systems strengthening (CSS) in Anambra State.

# Anambra Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, has underscored the importance of community service and positive indulgences to making a better society. While affirming that the recipients deserved the honour.

Dr. Mefor while speaking during a ceremony held at Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC), Secretariat Hall, Old Government House, Awka, highlighted that Gov Soludo would soon launch moral and social rebirth project in the state.

Mefor, who delivered a keynote speech value system, enjoined youths to avoid shortcuts to stardom, inculcate virtues of hardwork, discipline, fear of God and diligence to succeed in their various endeavours. He added that the present administration had through its flagship youth empowerment program,One Youth, Two Skills, empowered over 60,000 young men and women.

# The Suspended Lawmaker representing Ayamelum Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Bernard Udemezue who resumed plenary on Tuesday was walked out of the legislative Chambers.

Hon. Udemezue who was suspended three months ago by Anambra Assembly
appeared for the first time, while waiting for plenary, the lawmaker was approached by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, and the Memebr representing Oyi Constituency, Hon. Innocent Ojike approached the suspended Law maker and accompanied him out of the Chamber in company of security personnel.

The House leadership also went upstairs at the galary and walked out all supporters of the law maker who had accompanied him to the plenary.

According to them, the Law maker did not follow due process after his three months suspension elapsed .

In defence, Mr Udemezue claimed that he followed due process and had submitted necessary letters for resumption to the appropriate authorities before his appearance.

The Security operatives however insisted and walked him to the new Legislative building.

Hon. Udemezue was not part of plenary where Governor Chukwuma Soludo presented 2026 budget appropriation before the House of Assembly.

# The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze
says the lawmakers will give the 2026 budget accelerated passage.

Speaking during the budget presentation, Udeze reeled out the developmental achievements of Governor Soludo in the last three and half years.

“While maintaining that the recent Governorship Election victory renewed the governor’s mandate to the people, the Speaker said having performed well in the outgoing fiscal year, he hoped that next year’s budget will set the tone for his second term administration.

“However, Mr. Governor, as we receive the 2026 budget proposal today, we must
emphasize that this appropriation carries particular significance. This budget will
set the tone for your second tenure and will largely determine the legacy of the
Soludo administration.

” It is the foundation upon which the next four years will be built. The expectations of Ndi Anambra are high, and rightly so, given the renewed mandate they have bestowed upon you. This budget must therefore be bold, strategic, and implementable a document that not only continues the momentum of the first tenure but accelerates it”. Udeze submitted.

# The Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim says priesthood is a vocation of sacrifice and reconciling men back to God.

Archbishop Ibezim sated this at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka during the collation of Canons of the Cathedral and installation of Archdeacons of the Diocese of Awka.

The prelate warned against running into the ministry of God without preparation, and the expectation to live large.

Most Rev. Ibezim who is also the Bishop, Diocese of Awka, explained that priests are commissioned for very important responsibilites which they cannot faithful and fruitful discharge if they do not submit to Jesus Christ who called them to ministry.

# Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Health, Dr. Uchebo Obiageli has commended ‘The AIDS, TB and Malaria (ATM) Network’ for their efforts, stressing the need to report cases of poor service delivery and performance at PHCs.

Speaking during a meeting with the group, at the Jerome Udorji State Secretariat, Awka, the state capital, the Permanent Secretary said the ministry is open to partnership and collaborations for the betterment of the state.

“We’ll continue to appreciate your efforts because this partnership is a key component of our strategy to empower communities to take ownership of their Primary Health Care (PHC) services. It is a call to action for communities to claim ownership of their PHCs and be involved in their management.

“We are committed to receiving feedback from facilities on nurse performance and services rendered. However, we need support in monitoring PHCs, which is where your partnership comes in.

“Your involvement will enable us to track progress, gather feedback, and take action where necessary. When people feel accountable, they are more likely to deliver quality services.

“Before in Anambra, many facilities have been underutilized, but we are witnessing a shift as people now access quality healthcare services and benefit from government programs at the PHC level,” she said.

# The Chairman of Akwa Village in Ifitedunu, Dunukofia LGA of Anambra State, Comrade Arizechukwu Azodo has said that in line with the vision of the current state government, the village is being transformed into a modern city, adding that in weeks time, Akwa Village Health Center, with borehole water supply and staff quarters, will become operational.

Speaking on his stewardship, Comrade Azodo said that with the support of his Akwa village people, especially Chief Vincent Udobi and wife, he and his team acquired the land on which the health facility and staff quarters are built from the foundation, renovated Akwa Village Hall; with all modern facilities, provided security gates all around the village, bought office and security vehicles (Toyota Sienna and Shuttle bus), continued to ensure that adequate security is provided in the entire village.

Other achievements, according to Comrade Azodo, include creating new motorable roads and making the old ones also motorable, upholding and promoting cultural heritage, purchase of new plastic chairs, settlement of long lasting land and ordinary cases, as well as bringing peace back to families, clans and Awka in general.

He promised to do more, including constructing a market and commercial park if his tenure is renewed, and thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his youth empowerment programs he said Akwa village people have benefitted from, urging youths in the area to always engage in meaningful ventures.
