* Anambra State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engineer Julius Chukwuemeka says that the State government will soon unveil an electricity market to cater for the energy needs of Ndi Anambra.

Speaking in his office in Awka, Engr. Chukwuemeka who described Governor Chukwuma Soludo as a jinx breaker who is innovatively and strategically developing all sectors of the state economy, said that the market will guarantee energy sustainability.

The Commissioner noted that the electricity market where everything electricity would be handled will give the state the opportunity to be fully in charge of its power generation, transmission, and distribution.

* Anambra Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Foster Ihejiofor while defending his budget together with his team, said they performed very well and that before the year ends, they will finish better.

Ihejiofor in an interview at the House of Assembly complex in Awka, said the ministry of Agriculture will before better in 2025.

The Commissioner for Agriculture commended Governor Soludo for investing on economic tree, stating that
it will make families excape poverty and secure food security.

* The Anambra State Disability Rights Commission (ASDRC) said it has initiated processes for legal actions against the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state for alleged discrimination and violation of rights of persons with disabilities.

The commission also hinted that it has concluded plans to seek legal redress against three citizens for their individual actions ranging from rape, attempted assault and infliction of bodily harm on persons with disabilities in the state.

The commission said the decision to launch the action followed FRSC refusal to grant driving licence to one Mr Victor Onwudiegwu, a member of the deaf community in the state.

Victor, a civil servant from Nanka, Orumba North local government area, had reported an incident of discrimination that occured at the Aguata Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) office where he applied for a driver’s license but was allegedly denied due to his hearing impairment and on the ground that deaf individuals are ineligible for driver’s licenses.

* Anambra Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Pauly Onyeka during the budget defense listed the achievements of its ministry and all projects executed, assuring that the ministry will improve its performance next year 2025.

The Commissioner said their is more work to be done next year, 2025 and that the ministry of Housing is prepared to deliver on the mandate by making sure that expenditure are in line with the budget.

House Committee Chairman on Agriculture Hon. Jude Umennajiego and the Committee Chairman on Housing, Hon. Nonso Atuchukwu in their separate speeches said the 8th Assembly will continue to work tireless in protecting the interest of ndi Anambra and that all hands are on deck in ensuring that the state moves forward.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo says his administration is poised to stamping out any obnoxious practices against widows in communities across Anambra State.

Speaking at the commissioning of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation’s Touch-A-Life Housing Project at Oraifitte in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Governor Soludo, who noted that the state has made laws to protect the rights of widows, stressed that all the laws must be enforced to ensure dignity of widows, and thanked Sir Emeka Offor and wife, Dr. Adaora for living out the true essence of humanity.

In an address, the President of Touch -A-Life-Housing Project and Vice Chairman of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, Dr. Adaora Offor, said the project was birthed four years ago to give shelter to less-privileged widows, and explained that a total of ten houses have been built for ten widows.

* Police Operatives attached to Oba Police Divisional Headquarters of the Idemili South LGA have arrested one notorious Kidnapper and three other accomplices after a ransom of Two hundred thousand Naira was paid for the release of the victims in captivity.

The Operatives also rescued two female victims between the ages of 15 – 19 years in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga,
Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect, one Ifechukwu Ibesimako (M) aged 19 years of Aboji Village Oba and other three accomplices lured their victims through social media chats, by proposing friendship to them and holding them hostage until their relatives pay a certain amount to their gang before they are released.

Reacting, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, while admonishing the teeming youths to be careful of the people they meet on social media, directed the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Kidnapping/robbery Squad of the Command for comprehensive investigations.

* The Secretary to the State Government of Anambra state Professor Solo Chukwulobelu has appeared before the committee on Finance and Appropriation during the budget defense/bialateral discussion on 2025 draft estimates.

Prof. Chukwulobelu while interfacing with the lawmakers, revealed that the policy of the present administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is committed in giving ndi Anambra value for their money and that every kobo will be accounted for.

The Chairman Anambra Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation Hon. Ejike Okechukwu and member representing Anaocha two constituency said as lawmakers, they will assist all MDA’s in making sure that the budget of 2025 achieve its purpose.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has pledged to pay WAEC fees for junior and senior students of Uga Boys Secondary School in Aguata Local Government Area.

Soludo made the pledge when he visited
his alma mater, expressed hope for the future, reiterating his belief that investing in education is the best path to a livable and prosperous society.

Soludo who was the pioneer Senior Prefect of Uga Boys, 49 years ago, maintained that his efforts to strengthen ties between the state government and educational institutions, advocating for policies that prioritize student growth and community development.

* Anambra State government has awarded contract for the rehabilitation of the vandalized injection substation at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

A release signed by the Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor the contract was awarded to Kolc Ventures at two hundred and twenty-eight million one hundred and forty-seven thousand six hundred- and thirty-four-naira thirty-three kobo.

Contract for the provision of free internet access to the Anambra State House of Assembly, at eighty-one million eighty hundred- and seventy-two-thousand-naira was awarded to PINE HEIGHT GLOBAL RESOURCES Limited to be installed within two weeks.

Another contract for the construction of one hundred and fifty-one open stalls at Afuzo Market, Isuofia, was awarded to Crystal Dove Construction Company at the sum of two hundred and seventy-nine million seventy-two thousand seven hundred- and ten-naira seventy-five kobo.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, has bagged the 2024 Outstanding Public Service Award of the Association of Digital Media Core Advocates.

The award was presented to her in her office in Awka by the President of the association, Dr. Chuma-Odili Harris, who was joined by members of his executive.
According to Dr Harris, it was for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the Soludo administration as well as her commitment to the values of the women and the vulnerable.

Receiving the award, the Women Affairs Commissioner, dedicated the award to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for being an exemplary leader in all aspect and for appointing her the women affairs commissioner.
