* The Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime has been honoured with an award of honour in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the growth and development of the Anambra state and the society at large. The award was given in a ceremony held at the Faculty of Education of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, which was attended by top government officials, media representatives and friends. The award of honour was in recognition of his immense contribution towards education and humanity.

* Anambra state government has concluded its plans towards upgradding Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square to an international event center. The Commissioner for Housing in Anambra state, Hon. Pauly Onyeka while speaking in an interview after appearing before the 8th assembly committees on Finance and Appropration Chaired by Hon. Ejike Okechukwu and Committee on Housing and Urban Development chaired by Nonso Atuchukwu, during the budget defense and bilateral discussion. According to Hon Onyeka, Governor Chukwuma Soludo is intentional in the utilization of tax, and that ndi Anambra will have value for their money.

* Anambra Government through Operation Clean and Health Anambra, OCHA Brigade, has once again intensify efforts to curb street trading in the state. ANN reports that with the introduction of 24/7 patrol by OCHA Brigade led by Comrade Celestine Anere, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Brigade, it won’t be business as usual. The brigade raided major flashpoints in Amawbia axis of Enugu-Onitsha Expressway;  Ochanja, Woliwo, Iweka road, Tazan junction in Onitsha Metropolis and Ezeiweka road, Awada Obosi carted away illegally displayed wares and food items worth millions of naira. 

* Anambra Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs Blessing Iruma says the scheme has the capacity that will take adequate care of the number of corps members deployed to the State for their national service. Mrs Iruma speaking during the opening ceremony of the orientation course for the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members deployed to Anambra said that a total number of two thousand and five corps members, comprising one thousand and twenty-nine males and nine hundred and seventy-nine females have been registered and were already adjusting to camp life and activities. She revealed that they have accommodation for four thousand corps members, a capacity that can take care of large number of corps members but they have a total of two thousand and five corps members, adding that the number may likely increase.

* Anambra state government will next year commence operation show your building permit with penalties of two million for defaulters who also stand a jail sentence. Managing Director Physical Planning Board Anambra State, Hon. Chike Mmaduegwe made this revelation while answering questions from reporters after appearing before the assembly committees on Finance and Appropration Chaired by Hon. Ejike Okechukwu and Committee on lands, survey and town planning chaired by Jude Akpua, during the budget defense and bilateral discussion.

Mmaduegwe while outlining some of the challenges currently facing the agency, expressed optimism that next year will be more productive.

* Thw wife of Commissioner of Police Aderemi Mrs Bolanle Adeoye has been recognized by Anambra state Government and confered with an Award of Excellence for her contributions to health of police Family & HIV control in Anambra state.

* The chairman of the Onitsha Main Market, Chief Innocent Ezeoha has accused the Ocha Brigade, the state decongesting outfit of working against the interest the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to decongest all streets in the state. Speaking against the backdrop of the arrest of a member of Main Market taskforce, Chief Ezeoha, said there is no single tout working for Main Market rather they have taskforce members he constituted from to decongest the market.

* Anambra state government said it has withheld the half month salaries of most of the health workers over absenteeism and sundry breach of works ethics. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, who disclosed this at Awka during interaction with journalists, explained that the state government introduced technologically driven clock-in that provides data of workers attendance and performance.

According to Obidike, this was why most of the health workers received half of their salaries even as many might fall victims of that or worst in the future if they continued with such attitudes.

* The Vice President of Nigeria Association of Women Journalist South-East Zone, Comrade Stella Igboka says the association is ready to partner indigenous firms such as Lovebite Foods and Beverages Company Limited to promote healthy living and boost the economy. Comrade Igboka stated this at its factory in Nnobi, Idemili South LGA when the association embarked on a facility tour.
