* Ezinano Community has announced a
ten million naira (₦10m) bounty for information leading to the capture of the perpetrators of Nibo massacre.
Many lives were lost recently during the Onwa Asaa festival in Nibo, Awka South LGA of Anambra State, a tragic incident that shocked the region, sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice.
Ezinano, sharing affinity with Nibo, was particularly affected, having lost some of its residents in the violence.
Community leader Ozo Chief Jeff Nweke made the bounty announcement during the Second Edition of Ezinano Day, a celebration of the community’s culture and heritage.
* Barrister Chika Rita Okwuosa Foundation has held a town hall meeting with stakeholders of Atani community in Ogbaru Local Government Area to come up with solutions to mitigate the impact of flooding in the community.

Speaking at the event, the traditional ruler of Atani, Igwe Augustine Ngoddy, in an interview, said that flood is a universal problem and has become an annual nightmare for the people of Atani and other riverine communities which has affected the economic life of the people.
Also speaking, Mayor of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Hon. Frank Nwadialor represented by Honourable Chukwudi Ogene, said some of the victims of this year’s flood have moved to the holding centres and assured that his administration is ever ready to work with the state government to see to the well-being of the flood victims.
* The Orumba South local government Mayor, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for emerging most Prudent Governor in Nigeria.
Azubuike in his congratulatory message made available to his media team, said the report published by BudgiT Nigeria signified that administration of Governor Soludo has recorded the least recurrent expenses among other states since he took the mantle of leadership and it is an indication that Mr. Governor’s presence in government was inspired by selfless service.
Hon. Azubuike noted that, it is a clear testimony to the level of fiscal discipline in the administration of Governor Soludo and a demonstration that accountability, traceability and transparency are guiding principles in his administration.
While stating that Governor Soludo has thus far left no one in doubt of his commitment to disrupting the status quo to transform Anambra in all ramifications, he urged the good people of the state to keep on supporting Anambra State Government by keying into his vision of sustainable, livable and prosperous homeland.
* The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it will begin activities leading to the Anambra governorship election scheduled for 8th November, 2025 with the official notice of election on the 13th of November 2024.
The Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who disclosed this during his last quarterly consultative meeting with the media in Abuja, said as required by law, the Commission is under obligation to publish the timetable not later than 360 days before the date fixed for the election.
According to the INEC boss, the essence of giving the ample time, is to enable those involved in elections as political parties, candidates, observers, the media and security agencies to prepare for a credible election.
Professor Mahmood, also reeled out some preparations made by the Commission to ensure a free, fair and credible election in Ondo State on Saturday 16th November 2024.
* The Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has lauded Anambra First Lady, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo’s advocacy for women and urged women to embrace healthy living as healthy living team stormed Idemili North to educate them on the programmes.
Mrs. Obi while speaking during the launching of organic vegetable garden programme in Idemili North LGA, appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo for creating an enabling environment for Anambra women to be integrated into governance through various appointments and leadership responsibilities.
The Idemili South Council Boss noted that Dr. Mrs Soludo by her actions, has given women a voice and made more women visible in government affairs.
While describing Dr. Mrs Soludo as an uncommon leader, Hon. Obi encouraged Idemili North women to look inward and see the potentials in them.
* All Progressive Grand Alliance support group, ‘APGA Fan Club’, has vowed to tackle one of the electoral challenges known as “voter apathy,” using the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election as a case study.
The Club intend to show Anambra residents and Nigerians at large that the country’s future lies in their decision to become active participants in the electoral process and to mobilize support for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s reelection bid in 2025.
Chairman of the Fan Club, Hon. Obiajulu Nwoye, who spoke to journalists in Awka shortly after its stakeholders’ meeting said their aims is to influence behavior and drive action by providing compelling reasons to participate.
* The Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has dispelled reports of the sack of its newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Benard Odoh and stated that due diligence, approved guidelines and due process were all strictly adhered to in the process leading to the appointment of the 7th substantive Vice Chancellor on Tuesday 29th October, 2024.
Reacting to a trending letter from the Federal Ministry of Education dated 1st November 2024 signed by Mrs R. G. Ilyasu for the Permanent Secretary cancelling the UNIZIK Council’s recent appointments for not following existing guidelines, the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Barr Mrs Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike in a reply to the Permanent Secretary said all necessary protocols were observed by the council in discharging its statutory functions.
Quoting the necessary statutory provisions of the University Act and also backed with relevant documentations and pictorial evidences, the Registrar replied to the all the points raised by the ministry and stated that the Council, within the scope of its lawful authority, fulfilled its mandate with transparency and in adherence to the Universities’ regulations.
* The people of Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State have declared total and unflinching support for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo only because of the transformations propelled by his administration in the council area.
The people in one accord maintained that of all the governors that have ruled Anambra State, only Governor Soludo remembered a road in Oyi Local Government Area that has been completely forgotten and abandoned since 40 years ago.
The people of Oyi therefore made the declaration at the reception ceremony organised to formally integrate and incorporate Oyi Solution Ladies into Soludo Support Group (SSG) held at the humble abode of the council chairman Hon. Chief Emmanuel Ikechukwu Nweke, at Ifite-Awkuzu last weekend.
* The first lady of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo has visited Unity Primary School, Umuoba Anam, where over one thousand people who were displaced by flood are currently taking shelter.
The governor’s wife was joined on the visit by a team from the World Health Organization (WHO), led by the South East Zonal Coordinator, Dr Chukwumuanya Igboekwu.

called for an all-stakeholder involvement to assist people who are currently facing challenges of flood.
Addressing the people in the camp, shortly after inspecting the facility, Mrs Soludo said that the plight of people displaced by the natural disaster is a major concern for the government, noting that people should also come in to help.
* Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu have assured of continued partnership with the police and other relevant stakeholders in promoting security of lives and property in the state.
Odogwu gave the assurance recently
through the Treasurer of NUJ, Anambra State, Comrade Ogemdi Ozoemenam during the two-day Stakeholders Forum on Security of Schools in Anambra and Training of Schools Protection Squad, SPS, Unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
He assured the force that journalists are in support of the Safe Schools Initiative, and would do their best; through timely news publication and dissemination of information, to ensure that the programme succeeds in the state.
