* As part of activities marking the 2024 umunya summit, being organized by members of Umunya professionals’ Association, worldwide, members of the planning committee of the summit are putting finishing touches, leaving no stone unturn in their bid to ensure a hitch free conference.

In a press statement signed by the chairman of umunya Professionals’ Association, Prof. Tony Ejiofor, stated that the conference will tackle several key areas, critical to the future progress of umunya, including innovative governance and leadership, economic transformation and creation of opportunities.

Prof. Ejiofor a former Director-general, world Igbo Congress, noted that there is need to explore pathway to sustainable economic growth, that will empower every member of umunya Community, adding that local production and global competitiveness should be encouraged in umunya.

The summit is scheduled to hold on the 23rd of November 2024 via zoom 7.30 pm, Nigerian time.

* The Idemili South local government Mayor, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for being prudent in managing state resource since he took the mantle of leadership.

Obi made this commendation shortly after BudgiT Nigeria ranked Anambra as the leading state in Q1 Fiscal Transparency, stating that it is a testimony to the level of fiscal discipline in Governor Soludo’s administration.

While appealing the good people of the state to continue supporting Governor Soludo’s vision of livable and prosperous homeland, she added that evidence of Governor Soludo’s commitment can be seen across the state.

* The Orumba South local government Deputy Mayor, Hon. Mrs Ngozi Obidike has applauded Anambra State First Lady, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo for her commitment to the progress of the citizens especially women and children in the state.

Obidike applauded Dr. Mrs Soludo after launching of vegetable garden and weekly workout in Idemili North secretariat, Ogidi, stating that having planting garden in every home will enhance communal living and vegetables are medical.

While appealing women to key into Dr. Mrs Soludo’s vision of ensuring that every household in the state have enough healthy and fresh vegetables and to join weekly workout in their different local government, she added that Dr. Mrs Soludo is the outstanding First Lady in the history of Anambra State.

* The Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam on monday begins security advocacy on Anti Sit at home and security assessment in the twenty-one (21) Local Government Areas in Anambra State.

The security/anti sit at home assessment patrol started with a visit to the Awka South Local Government Area Council by the Commissioner of Police.

CP Itam charged the executive council members, the traditional rulers, the president general of the communities, youth leaders, Anambra State Vigilantes Operatives, PCRC members and other stakeholders to continue to work with the Police and other security agencies on the need to adopt sustainable policing practices to improve security surveillance and timely security interventions in the state, urges residents alike to report suspicious persons and unusual movement they may observe to the nearest Police Station or through the Command Emergency number call 07039194332 for a prompt response.

* In an exciting kick-off to the 2024 Press Week, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, faced off against the Njikoka Local Government team in a novelty football match.

The highly anticipated match ended with Njikoka LGA emerging victorious, defeating NUJ Anambra Council 2-1.

Speaking to journalists after the football match, the Mayor of Njikoka, Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, stated that sports should be encouraged and urged youths to participate more in sports activities.

* The proprietor of Choice De Immaculate Demonstration Secondary School, Obosi (CIDS), Engr. Solormy Ochokwu, has
expressed his effusive thanks to prominent Obosi indigenes and organisations that sponsored awards given to the outgoing students of the school.

Ochokwu expressed his thankfulness to the donors/sponsors on the occasion of the school’s send forth and students’ awards event, which took place on the expansive premises of the school.

During the event, the graduating students, who were delirious with joy, had a swell time dancing ecstatically and energetically to songs.

* Members of the Umunagu community in Achalla, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, have staged a peaceful protest to Governor Charles Soludo over an ongoing land dispute.

The community members gathered at the government house in Agu Awka on Tuesday afternoon, holding placards with various inscriptions such as

The community urged the governor to intervene and call John Omerie, who allegedly claimed to have sold Achalla land to one Emeka Morgan, to order.

According to the protesters, if the governor does not urgently intervene in the land encroachment, it could lead to a breach of peace and order.

* The convener of Soludo Mighty Ladies who doubled as the Oyi local government chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Harold Umunna Maduka has said, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo is committed to promoting girl-child education and inclusive governance.

Umunna made this statement earlier today as Soludo Mighty Ladies organized a programme titled “Women Participation, Better Governance”, stating that, Governor Soludo understand that women play a crucial role in shaping the society and that is why he is providing many opportunities for their social, economic and political growth.

He added that Governor Soludo’s administration is dedicated to improving the lives of women and children in the state for a better living environment and society.

While urging the members of the group to take the message of Mr. Governor to every doorstep in their wards and make sure that all the women in their area join the movement , he noted that Charly Nwa Mgbafor has touched every sector.

* Anambra State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution commending Governor Chukwuma Soludo for extending free educational policy to Senior Secondary School students in the state public schools.

The resolution was passed following a motion moved by the member representing Aguata Constituency One, Hon. Anayo Okpaleke.

In his submissions, Hon. Okpaleke who is the Chairman House Committee on Education noted that Governor Soludo had earlier granted free education from Nursery, Primary and Junior Secondary Schools (JSS 3) to pupils and students of all State Public Schools and also extended the same to Senior Secondary School Students in Public Schools.

Hon. Okpaleke reiterated that access to quality education equips beneficiaries with the necessary tools to excel and take their destinies into their hand, thereby ensuring effective use of their talents for all round development and progress.

* Nnewi Youth Forum has called on all critical stakeholders in Nnewi to join hands with Hon. Echezona Anazodo, the newly inaugurated Mayor of Nnewi North local government area, in making the community great once again.

The appeal was made during a courtesy visit by executives and leaders of Nnewi Youth Forum/Women Wing led by Hon. Ejim Ucheagwu to the Mayor of Nnewi North, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, who also doubles as a long-standing member of the youth body on Friday, the 1st of Nov. 2024.

The Forum declared her readiness to partner with the mayor in making sure that Nnewi returns back to her glorious days.
