# In the lead-up to the Anambra State off-cycle governorship election, Commandant Maku Olatunde, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command joined other participants at the INEC Stakeholders Forum to finalize preparations and reinforce commitment to a peaceful and credible electoral process.

The Strategic Forum, part of ongoing consultations with key stakeholders in the state, was convened at the instance of INEC to update the public on election preparedness, and security arrangements for a hitch-free election.

Commandant Maku noted that the NSCDC, as part of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), will collaborate closely with other members to provide robust security during the electoral process, operating impartially and with dedication to a common goal.

The NSCDC State Commandant warned officers and men against negligence and complacency, advising them to be polite and civil in the discharge of their duties. He emphasized the need to provide adequate security for the electorate at polling booths, INEC facilities, and officials at collation centers throughout the election period.

 

# The spokesman for the Anambra Beach Soccer Association Mr. Awam Okwudili Emmanuel says the team are gearing up for their most important matches in the 2025 National Beach Soccer League finals, taking place at Jabi Lake Park in Abuja.

The team, led by the Anambra Beach Soccer Association, is ready to faced Kebbi Beach Soccer Club.

The Warriors will take on Ibom Beach Soccer Club on Friday, November 7, and a win would secure their place in the tournament semi-finals. The team is backed by strong support from Anambra state, and they are determined to make their state proud.

# As a critical stakeholder in the conduct and success of elections, especially with the Anambra State gubernatorial election to hold on November 8th, police officers under the state command are undergoing a training workshop in Awka to ensure a seamless election as it concerns security during and after the election.

Speaking, the training consultant from GTA consulting, Chief Johnson Ateghie explained that the Inspector General of Police found it needful to ensure that officers that would be part of the election are trained, to understand their roles and effectively carry-out responsibilities, urging members of the public to understand the work of the police, for effective policing.

Police Inspector Onyekachi Onuorah, from the Police Public Relations Office, remarked that the enthusiasm of officers for the training workshop shows their willingness for effective policing during the election, as the two-days training cuts across different ranks and files of the police, assuring that the election would be peaceful.

Other participating police officers, Chief Superintendent of Police Jackson Amadi and Superintendent Andrew Gabriel said the training will help the police know the Rule-of-Engagement and Human Rights, helping them to be civil during the election, appreciating the police hierarchy for the training, as the knowledge gained is worthwhile.

# Barr. Chuks Ezewuzie, the Chairman of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, has been elected as the National Vice-Chairman of the National Forum of Disability Commissions and Agencies (NFDCA).

Ezewuzie was also elected to concurrently serve as the South-East Zonal Coordinator of the board.

The historic elections took place during the groundbreaking National Summit of Disability Commissions and Agencies, a landmark event organized by the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).

The summit, which gathered heads of state-level disability bodies from across the federation, was convened with the primary objective of fostering a unified front in the implementation of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018.

# Anglican Bishop on the Niger, Rt Rev. Dr. Owen Nwokolo has tasked Student Nurses and Midwives to be steadfast, dedicated and committed to Christian values.

The charge was given during the 45th Matriculation/ Capping ceremony of 2024/2025 Set Student Nurses and Midwives, College of Nursing Sciences Iyienu, Anambra State.

According to the Bishop who spoke through a representative, Ven. Samuel Ezewudo, Subdean, charged students Nurses and Midwives to show the light in your academics, morals and reflect the light of God in your environment and the world at large. Many have gone through this college and have become a beacon of light.

# It was a day of celebration and reflection at the Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, as the Faculty held its 2025 Award Presentation Ceremony.

The event recognized retired professors, the best lecturer (Junior Cadre), and other distinguished personalities for their outstanding contributions to education, scholarship, and societal advancement.

In her address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi represented by Prof. Vivian Nwogbo, described retirement as an inevitable yet honourable phase in one’s work-life journey, worthy of celebration for those who have served diligently. While acknowledging that retirement comes with its challenges, including financial adjustments and the need for time management, she emphasized that it should not signal inactivity or decline.

# Ahead of November 8th 2025
governorship election in the State, the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has called on the electorate to conduct themselves in a manner that will really depict the State as the Light of the Nation by remaining law-abiding and peaceful during and after the election.

Udeze while speaking to journalists in Atani, Ogbaru LGA on the significance of the State’s Governorship Election, urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to ensure free, fair and credible election in the State, adding that all eyes are on the commission to prove its competence and neutrality in the Anambra gubernatorial election especially now that the commission has a new Chairman.

Udeze extolled Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s giant strides in the security of lives and property of the citizenry, charged security agents deployed to the State for the election to work in tandem with other security operatives in the State to ensure that adequate security is maintained during the election.

Rt. Hon. Udeze advised politicians to desist from unwholesome acts that will impede the election, but to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the election, while urging the youth to resist attempts by desperate politicians to use them to perpetrate crimes and criminalities during or after the election.

The Speaker encouraged ndi Anambra to come out en-masse to exercise their franchise by electing a Governor that is committed towards improving their well-being as well as the overall development of the State.

# The People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
Njikoka Chapter has publicly thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

The endorsement took place at the residence of Hon. Ndubuisi Omile in Nimo Ward II, where party stakeholders, leaders, and supporters gathered in a united show of support.

The Chairman of Njikoka LGA Barr. Chinedu Ononiba in the rally, commended Governor Soludo’s impactful leadership, citing massive infrastructural developments, educational reforms, and improved governance across the state.

In their separate remarks, Hon. Dozie Nwankwo and PDP Njikoka Chairman, Chief Obodo Eze, expressed strong support for the governor, acknowledging his transformational strides in various sectors.
