* The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, has hinted that weapons are sold in the Onitsha Main Market in Anambra State. Adeoye said this at a press briefing on Monday at the Police Command Headquarters, Amawbia. The CP who said he was talking from a long experience of service in the state, that commenced in the 1990s, said the situation had even worsened recently.

* The Anambra State House Of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Transport and the Managing Director of Anambra Road Transport Management Agency to commence full implementation of traffic laws to regulate the activities of commercial drivers in Onitsha and other urban areas of the state. The resolution was sequel to a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by the member representing Ogbaru One Constituency, Hon Noble Igwe.

* Bigly Oil and Gas, one of the principal partners of the Anambra State Government in revenue collection has barred its members from smoking cigarettes, hemp, other hard drugs and substances especially while on duty. Speaking at a press conference in Awka, the Project Manager, of Bigly Oil and Gas Company, Mr. Chukwuma Nwabuikwu Michael, said Bigly performed her functions in alignment with the guidelines provided by the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service as it concerns revenue collections.

* Members of the Soludo Support Group in Awka South local government area have commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for all his developmental strides in the area especially in Awka the state capital. The group which spoke through its co-ordinator in the local government area Chief Obi Ochije Modilim described Soludo as the only Governor that remembered Awka in both Infrastructural development and giving of key appointments since the creation of Anambra State in 1991.

* Anaocha Local Government Council in Anambra State came alive at the weekend with the celebration of ANAFEST2023, a jubilant display of rich cultural tapestry. Led by Chief Ikenna Okafor (Ide Akwaeze), the festival highlighted the profound cultural heritage and traditions of the Anaocha dianesty. The occasion also featured the prestigious bestowal of Chiefthancy Titles upon Anaocha’s distinguished sons and daughters, an act of recognition and celebration of their remarkable contributions.

* Anambra State Executive Council has approved the release of the sum of Two Hundred and Ninety-Nine million, five hundred and five thousand Naira only for the Establishment of Modern Telemedicine Hub and Spoke System in Anambra State. The contract was awarded to Calyzid Ventures Limited with the completion date of five Months from the date of the payment of the mobilization fee. Also approved was the release of the sum of One Billion, Six Hundred and Five million, two hundred and thirty-seven thousand, five hundred Naira only for the Supply and Installation of Modern Laboratory Equipment in all the three hundred and twenty-six Primary Health Care Centres across the State in the three senatorial districts.

* Anambra State Police Command has paraded suspects arrested for different crimes such as kidnapping, cultism, robbery, impersonation and insugency. ANN gathered that in the last three months, the command has arrested 30 insurgency, 39 suspects for armed robbery, 38 cultist (over 30 charged to court), 22 suspects for kidnapping, 6 kidnapped victims have been rescured from their adoptors and giving medical attention and united with their families. Other items recovered includes; “26 guns, 93 rounds of various animations, 25 motor vehicles and 14 tricycles were recovered and given to their owners, 7 motorcycles, one roll of armod ceble, one genarator, 16 iron grills stolen from the second Niger bridge, a pump action gun, locally made cut-to-size guns, pistol and cartridges, fake police uniforms, Biafra flags and assorted charms.

* Anambra lawmakers has commended Governor Soludo for the palliative works going on at the various erosion sites at Nnobi-Nkpor road and Oba expressway. The member representing Idemili South Constituency, Hon. Ebuka Igwe who sponsored the motion expressed satisfaction that the ongoing palliative measures by Governor Soludo will go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of road users and will prevent a total collapse of the road.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya, has charged professional bodies in Nigeria to prioritize the training and retraining of their members to promote professionalism.

Barrister Ifeanya gave the charge, when a delegation from the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Awka branch, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Jerome Udoji secretariat complex in Awka.
