* Over thirty-seven thousand vulnerable and poor Ndi Anambra are currently benefiting from the Basic Health Care Provision Fund.

The Managing Director Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi disclosed this during a one day retraining of the Officers-in-Charge of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund Primary Health Care Centres on Monitoring and Evaluation Data collection tools in Awka.

Dr. Onyemaechi explained that the Basic Healthcare provision fund is an intervention of the federal and state governments to take care of the healthcare needs of the poorest of the poor and vulnerable members of the society.

He noted that in implementing the programme, monthly, the agency pays capitation to all the primary healthcare centres delivering the services across the three hundred and twenty-six electoral wards in the State, adding that over thirty-seven thousand Ndi Anambra and one hundred and ten per political ward are currently benefiting from the fund.

* The Rector, Diocese on the Niger Polytechnic named, Gozie Anyachebelu Polytechnic, (GOZPOLY), Onitsha, Anambra State, Engr Mrs Helen Chioma Abone, has held out a passionate appeal to Nigerian youth, entreating them to exploit opportunities in Computer and Information Technology Studies to add employable skills to themselves.

She explained that a lot of opportunities now abound in the said areas from where she said anyone could improve oneself and become self-reliant instead of relying on governments for gainful employments.

Engr Mrs Abone who made the appeal in an interview with journalists in her office in Onitsha, recently had graphically explained, to an extent, what Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Library and Information Science entailed.

* The Anambra State Government is to partner the Peoples Republic of China to establish new projects and expand existing ones across the state.

This was the outcome of a collaborative meeting held in Awka between some officials of the state government and delegation from Peoples Republic of China.

The meeting agreed to articulate necessary framework to support the implementation of areas of  partnership including, Agriculture, Hospitality Industry,Waste Recycling, and Recreational facilities.

* All for Women Initiative Nigeria (A-WIN), has distributed over 100 bags and writing materials to primary schools in Nri community, Anaocha council area of the state.

The gesture tagged ‘Back to School Kids” Initiative was sponsored by Dr. Joy Nwufoh through A-WIN whose mission and vision is to inculate the right morals in the girl child and empower women to achieve greater heights.

The group, in commemoration of the 2024 International Day for the Girl Child,
led by the founder NGO, Comrade Stella Igboka, before visiting the schools at Nri paid a courtesy visit to the Regent of Nri Ancient Kingdom, Prince Ikenna Onyesoh at his palace and intimated him of their plans of suiting up poor and vulnerable kids in the rural communities as as a way to complement state government’s efforts in the education sector.

Comrade Igboka who is also the president of the foundation explained that A-WIN, a non-governmental and non-profit organization, selected Urorije Migrants Farm school, Community Primary School and Nri-Jiofor Primary school all in Nri as education centres for the poorest of the poor thus their reason of visiting the school to alleviate the learning conditions of the pupils.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the weekend embarked on a routine inspection of ongoing projects within Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Soludo while speaking during the inspection said the projects will not only boost the economy but also provide a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.

” I am thrilled to see the tremendous progress being made! From the Fun City to the remarkable remodeling of Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, and finally to the site of the new Government House and Governor’s Lodge, these projects will redefine the face of our capital city and position Anambra State as a top destination point.

“I’m particularly excited about the transformation of Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, which will soon boast majestic water fountains and a serene love garden, blending beauty and tranquility. Our administration is committed to delivering projects that promote unity, entertainment, and leisure for all.

* The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has reacted to allegations by members of Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) that there is a deliberate plot to exclude their members from the ongoing race for the position of vice chancellor of the institution.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
MDCAN had in a press statement alleged that an advert approved by the chairman of governing council of the university, Amb Greg Mbadiwe, which listed a PhD as compulsory requirement for anyone seeking for the position, was meant to bar them.

They argued that their medical fellowship was equivalent to a PhD in their field, and should be acceptable as requirement for the contest.

But in a reply to their request, Unizik management in a press release signed by Dr Emma Ojukwu, special adviser to the vice chancellor on public relations called on members of MDCAN to approach Nigeria University Commission to ascertain if their medical fellowship was equivalent to a PhD.

* The Federal Government of Nigeria has distributed bags of rice, gas cylinders, and others to less-privileged people in Anambra.

The distribution exercise took place at the Ndi Ichie Hall, Umudioka Village, Awka in Awka South local government area of the state recently.

Addressing the beneficiaries while presenting the palliatives released to the State by Tinubu-led Administration. The Minister of Women Affairs, Barr (Mrs) Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, reassured the people of the President’s commitment to their welfare and security.

She, however, urged the people to exercise patience with him to enable him to clear the rots he met on assumption.

* The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is partnering with Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company (IVM) LTD to promote Made-in-Nigeria products.

NIPR under the leadership of Dr Ike Neliaku, President and Chairman of Council NIPR, alongside members of his Entourage, stormed the Headquarters of Innoson at No 95 Owerri Road, Umudim, Nnewi. Here, the NIPR national officers were taken round the production line of Innoson automobile manufacturing process.

Responding, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, Chairman Innoson Group admitted that the key problem he had is that politicians, most governments and agencies dont patronise him, and those who patronise dont pay thereby incurring huge debts on the company.

He however applauded the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umar Fintri for being his best customers in the country, adding that he patronise Made in Nigeria products in his state and asked other governors to emulate him.

* Nawfia community in Njikoka local council of Anambra State has began mourning of five people, including strangers killed in the community.

In a statement signed by the President General of Nawfia Progressive Union (NPU) Chief Daniel Okoye, the victims included two indigenes, namely: Samuel Onyebuchi Nnatuanya aged 26 years and Chukwuebuka Ifeanyichukwu Nwonukwue aged 29 years old. Both hailed from Adagbe Mmimi village, Nawfia.

The three other victims were strangers living in Nawfia. One of them, according to Okoye hailed from Ukwulu in Dunukofia local council of the state, another one was from Ebonyi State, while the other was from the Northern part of the country.

Okoye also dismissed speculations that the victims were cultists, saying there is no evidence to support such claims.

* Ijele Sports Club have announced the appointment of Alex Anago as its new Director of International Tournament, Governance, and Data Protection Advisory.

This was disclosed by the club Chairman Mr Victor Edeh in a release made available to the media.

According to Edeh, Alex Anago who led the first African team to reach the finals of the world renowned viareggio tournament in Italy back in 2022, brings over his decades of experience in sports management, governance, and data protection to his new role.
