* The Chairman of Orumba South local government area, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike has urged workers in the council secretariat to always engage in habits that will promote their eye health.

Hon. Azubuike while speaking recently, called in workers in the council secretariat to always go for proper medical eye tests, stating that it will enable them to detect any problem on time.

He said, eye is a very important organ in our body and so, we should all take a critical look at our eyes and make sure we take very good care of it.

* The Chairman of Idemili South local government area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) for awarding the rehabilitation of the Oba-Nnewi road.

Speaking recently, Obi stated that the
development is a significant milestone in the efforts to improve infrastructure in the region.

“Under Governor Soludo’s visionary leadership, the rehabilitation of Oba-Nnewi road is expected to boost economic growth, improve transportation, and enhance the quality of life for residents in Idemili South’. Obi said.

* Former Governor of Anambra State and
Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has donated N50 million to Shanahan University, Onitsha during its official opening ceremony.

Obi while speaking at the event, emphasized the importance of knowledge over oil, stating that “the currency for the future is knowledge, not oil”.

Obi praised the initiative, saying, “This is the future. What is great is those who think about tomorrow.”

He acknowledged the significant role of the church in establishing top-notch educational institutions worldwide.

* Two candidates, Barr. Chidi Chidebe and Chief Amaechi Onowu are battling over who becomes the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Anambra State come October 19th, 2024.

Addressing newsmen on his intentions to lead PDP in Anambra State, Barr. Chidi Chidebe assured he would be diligent if elected to promote the ideals of the party in the state.

His wrods: “My vision for the PDP in Anambra State is clear: unity, inclusiveness, and strategic growth. I am committed to working closely with all of you to ensure our party remains a beacon of hope and progress. Together, we can reinforce the PDP’s legacy and build a stronger, more united front that will lead Anambra State towards unprecedented success.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Pauly Onyeka has emphasized the need for Christians to always demonstrate the virtues of Christianity by helping the less privileged in the society .

Commissioner Onyeka said this recently at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Egbema Ozubulu , Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State while on his mission work .

According to him, “as a member of the Catholic faith, it is your responsibility to extend support and assistance to the poor members of the parish and the society at large, just as it was instructed by Christ in Matthew 25:35 (KJV): “For I was an hungry and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in. Naked, and ye clothed me…”

* Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor has visited the newly created Anambra Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO).

Addressing the ANCISRO MD, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, Mefor said he was there to further familiarise himself and look at the office’s core mandate and challenges to see where the ministry can assist in its take off.

He urged the MD to work hard despite initial challenges to re-orientate the youths so that they can see life from a positive perspective. “Governor Soludo wants to see Anambra youths regain perspective and need to imbibe the core values for which Ndigbo are reputed – hard work, resilience, honesty, integrity, enterprise and so on.

Welcoming the commissioner, Sir Nnabuife appreciated the visit, saying he came at a time when the collaboration is well needed, adding that the agency is working to reform the youths against the vices of get-rich-quick syndrome, drug abuse, human rights and environmental abuse, among others and instil in them the core values of Anambra, which is hard work, enterprise, apprenticeship, academic excellence and strong religious faith, among others.

* Two independent investigation panels set up by the Anambra State Government and the Niger Diocese have exonerated the management of Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS) of any blame in the collapse of the school’s centenary building.

According to a statement issued on by Sir Oselloka Offoh, Director Communications of the Niger Diocese, in Onitsha, Anambra State, the investigation panels established that the likely cause of the collapse was foundation failure due to poor soil conditions that could not have been foreseen by the engineers or statutory inspection.

The panels’ reports revealed that all administrative and technical procedures were followed in the construction of the DMGS Centenary Building.

The Bishop of Niger Diocese, Most Reverend Owen Nwokolo, expressed gratitude to the two panels for their sacrifice and diligence in carrying out their tasks. He remains hopeful that DMGS will rise above this tragedy and, with the support of old boys, continue efforts to create a lasting legacy for the centenary celebration.

* Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA), Anambra State Chapter, has commended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s urban regeneration initiative.

The Institute gave the commendation at the weekend during its 2024 Annual Conference, with the Theme; Towards a Liveable and Sustainable Urban City: role of professionals in planning and construction,’ held at Oba D.A Nwandu Architectural Research Centre, Department of Architecture, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.

NIA lauded the ongoing tree planting initiative across the three major cities in Anambra, Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi to make the State clean and green and other huge projects like the ongoing construction of Ekwulobia flyover, construction of fun city in Awka and the rehabilitation of Okpoko slum in Ogbaru council area of the state, mass employment in all sectors and the one youth, two skills acquisition programme, stating that it will remain the major unforgettable achievements of governor Soludo in Anambra State.

* Achalla Community in Awka North LGA and Nteje in Oyi Local Government Areas of Anambra State are set to witness the presence of industries in their various communities, following the discovery of capt oil wells and solid mineral deposit in the communities.

Speaking during the sensitisation visit to these communities as part of the enumeration execises for oil wells and solid minerals deposits in the state, the MD, Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company and Anambra State Petroleum and Energy Resources Limited, Prof.Charles Ofoegbu hinted that the state has embarked on an inventory of all the solid minerals and oil wells in the state for the purpose of industrialisation, growth and development of the state.

The two communties promised to make available the 20 plots of land or more , needed for the building of the various projects as Igwe Nwokedi on his part, is ready to provide additional seven hectares of land if so demanded.

* The founder of Osisioma Foundation, Dr Chike Obidigbo has stated that he has not seen African Dubai in Anambra State as promised by govenor Charles soludo.

According to him, the incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo made the promise to Ndi Anambra during his election campaign which eventually saw his victory.

Obidigbo who was a former gubernatorial aspirant in Anambra State under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) made the disclosure while advising the Labour Party LP Governorship aspirant, Mr Valentine Ozigbo who visited Osisioma Foundation members at Umunya in Oyi local government area of Anambra State.

He said that as one of the supporters of Soludo to secure victory as the Governor of Anambra State based on his promise to make Anambra African Dubai, he is yet to see him fulfilling his promises.
