* Youths in Agulu, Aniocha LGA of Anambra state have taken to the streets to protest against the killing of Peter Uduekwelu by revenue collectors. The revenue collectors for the government in Agulu were accused of stoning the victim leading to his painful and untimely death. ANN recall that the Anambra State Government had recently dismissed two revenue officers who allegedly molested a motorist by dragging him down from his vehicle and driving it to an unknown destination.

* The Faculty of Agriculture UNIZIK Awka, has taken the quest to promote Agriculture to the next level through its maiden exquisite banquet and exhibition. Declaring the event open in Awka, on Monday, the Vice Chancellor of the university Prof.Charles Esimone noted that any country that supports Agriculture can never go hungry. The vice chancellor regretted that Nigeria has neglected Agriculture and paying the consequences.

* The Chairman of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Bar Chuks Ezewuzie, has delivered cane guards to visually impaired individuals who gathered at St. Patrick Cathedral Awka hall to celebrate 2023 White Cane Awareness Day. Ezewuzie expressed the government’s commitment to creating a prosperous and accessible environment for people with disabilities in Anambra State. Bar Ezewuzie also acknowledged Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of the governor, for celebrating the event with the state’s blind community, and thanked the governor for budgeting funds for this year’s celebration. He also promised that next year’s celebration will be better.

* Anambra commissioner for Women’s Affairs, Hon Ifeyinwa Obinabo has giving insight to the only way to adopt a baby legally in Anambra. Mrs Obinabo while speaking in an interview at her office recently in Awka the state capital, admitted that every job undertaken by her ministry comes with its own level of hassles but that with the support of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, they have been successful.

* Mrs Blessing Ekene Iruma, the NYSC state coordinator, has attested to the synergy between the scheme and Oyi local government under the TC chairman, Hon Emma Nweke, describing it beneficial. Mrs Iruma made this known while speaking at a reception in her honour organized by the working transition committee chairman of Oyi local government, Hon Emma Nweke on thursday.

* Anambra State APGA Youth Leader, Hon. Dr. Tochukwu Obiadi has congratulated Commissioner for Health, Hon. Dr. Afam Obidike and the MD/CEO of ANSIPPA, Hon. Mark Okoye for their recent chieftaincy title bestowment and golden award of excellence performance in public service. The two illustrious sons have been conferred chieftaincy titles where Dr. Afam Obidike was conferred the “Ochudo Anaocha” while Hon. Mark Okoye was bestowed “Oke Ebubedike Anaocha”.

* Justice Chukwudi Nwankwo of High Court 2 at Ogidi in Idemili North local government area of Anambra State has struck out a defamation suit filed against an Anambra -based journalist, Mrs. Kasie Abone by her brother in-law, Rev Emeka Abone. ANN reports that Rev Abone, who is the Vice Chairman of The Sun Newspapers, had dragged Kasie to the High Court in 2019 over alleged defamation. However, on 25th January 2021, the matter was struck out, only for it to be relisted by the same plaintiff (Rev, Abone) on February 16, 2023.

* UNIZIK High School, Awka, has emerged winner in the just concluded spelling tournament organized by Educe learning consult at St Patrick Secondary School, Awka. ANN reports that UNIZIK High Schooll represented by Maduagwuna Chioma, Ezeno Chikanyinma and Ugochukwu Udochukwu beat fifteen other schools to emerge winner in the competition. Reacting to the victory, Principal of the school, Mrs Israel Atinuke reassured the school’s commitment to assisting the students discover themselves in academics but in other two areas of their development.

* Umuada Umuona in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state have distributed exercise books to schools in the community. ANN reports that Saint Maria Gorrati Catholic Primary and Nursery School, Saint Joseph High School and Further Hope Nursery and Primary School all in Umuona benefited. Distributing the exercise books to the students, the President of Umuada Umuona, Mrs Bridget Umeh said they embarked on the journey to add to the free education policy of Governor Chukwuma Soludo

* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has vowed to eradicate the tout menace that has been haunting Onitsha and the state at large. The Governor who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, stated this during the 2023 Ofala Festival of the Obi Onitsha, Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe.

* Enugu Rangers are back to winning ways with a 2:1 win over Niger Tornadors at the Awka City Stadium on Sunday. The Coal City outfit, coached by Fidelis Ilechukwu who dominated the game, got their second win of the season
