* The Governor of Anambra State Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo has described foreign companies exiting as “opportunistic” firms that jump from one country to another “the day they have itchy feet”.

Governor Soludo while speaking on Wednesday at the maiden edition of the Abuja Business and Investment Summit organised by the Abuja Investment Company Limited said “government must learn to derisk certain strategic investment for the private sector” as indigenous “nationals have higher risk appetite to invest in Nigeria”.

He spoke on the theme of the event, ‘Optimising Investment Through Partnerships’. The event also has the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and other dignitaries in attendance.

The Anambra governor expressed hope that “both forex and price level will stabilise and the interest rate and monetary policy will loosen” for business owners to borrow at reasonable rates to have real return on investments.

* The Former Member that represented Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe says that the State’s tourist sites can fetch enough internally generated revenue.

Hon. Obidigwe who disclosed this during an event in Awka recently, eulogized Governor Chukwuma Soludo for repositioning and revolutionizing the state’s tourism sector.

Hon. Obidigwe revealed that he took forty-two of his constituents to Egypt for an Agric show when he was in the green chambers, which offered them the opportunity to visit the pyramid, red sea among others and commended what Governor Soludo is doing in the tourist sector, describing it as a step in the right direction.

Hon. Obidigwe also called on ndi Anambra to rally round the Governor for him to continue his good works in the state.

* Anambra Commissioner For Agriculture, Dr. Forster Ihejiofor says the state government is committed in enhancing food security for a sustainable future.

Ihejiofor stated this at a press briefing in commemoration of this year’s World Food Day.

While describing the celebration marked on October 16th annually as impactful, the commissioner said that stakeholders collaboration was the key to delivering economic prosperity and wellbeing to the people of the state.

He called on all stakeholders, communities and individuals to join in a globally coordinated effort towards achieving food security and fostering sustainable agricultural practices.

* In his bid to ensure cleanliness in the market and environs, the Chairman of New Auto Spare Parts Nkpor, Idemili North LGA Chief Stephen Obiora Ofoleh has embarked on inspection of the market to ensure that his vow to maintain cleanliness in the market is maintained.

Speaking during the inspection of the clean up exercise set up by the Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association, (ASMATA) to ensure that all the markets in the state are clean, Oforleh commended Governor Soludo for his tireless effort in the development of the state.

He disclosed that he has vowed to always maintain cleanliness in the market not only on ASMATA clean up which is every second Thursday of the month but he does that as his daily routine to ensure he is always in line with Governor Soludo’s directives on clean and healthy Anambra State.

* Reactions have continued to trail the just concluded LG elections, Free Education and minimum wage which was recently announced by the governor.

The Chairman of Old Motor Car Parts Dealers Association, Mgbuka Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Chief Samuel Ifurunwa who praised the governor, noted that his integrity has to be emulated.

Ifurunwa stated this while speaking to newsman on the just concluded election, followed by the free education and the minimum wage for the public servants in the state.

He reiterated that the recent local government election was one of his campaign promises which was fast- forwarded by the supreme Court judgement mandating all the states to conduct LG election within three months of the delivered judgement.

* The state commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka led government joint inspection team including the commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, General Manager Bureau for Public Procurement BPP, Dr. Okechukwu Ikeze Obi, Special Adviser to the governor on projects, Engr Ebuka Nwankwo & others to the inspection of Aroma Urban Water Scheme, Awka for on the spot assessment on how far the water resuscitation has gone in Awka.

Commissioner Chukwuemeka in an interview after the inspections, stated that Governor Soludo understands the importance of water in the lives of the people reason he has prioritized the resuscitation of pipe borne water to provide clean & portable water to the people of the state in line with his solution agenda.

He noted that the two million litres capacity tank at Aroma Urban Water Scheme which hasn’t functioned for decades, has been resuscitated with underground water as the source; He said that a solar farm, Kva transformer & an industrial generator have been provided to ensure a 24hrs power supply to the water station, noting that the residents of Ifite, Okpuno, Eke Awka, secretariat down to temp site now have access to potable water supply.

* Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Maku Olatunde has cautioned members of the public to be vigilant and exercise discernment when approached by anyone claiming to be a Civil Defence officer.

Comdt. Maku stated this at the State Command Headquarters Awka through Superintendent of Corps, Edwin Okadigbo, the command’s head of media and tactical Ops while parading a suspect impersonating a Civil Defence officer to deceive, extort and commit fraudulent activities on unsuspecting citizens in Anambra State.

Giving a vivid account on how the suspect was arrested, Maku said “on Tuesday October 15, 2024, operatives of the command on routine patrol responded to intelligence regarding the suspect’s suspicious activities around Aroma in Awka .

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has said that the explanations provided by Governor Chukwuma Soludo during his Broadcast On Local Government Autonomy and other related matters are quite explicit and in line with the mandate of the Judiciary and Legislature as well as the State and Local Government joint responsibilities.

Speaking shortly after the Governor’s Broadcast, Udeze revealed that Governor Soludo’s administration is mindful of constitutional provisions in all ramifications, adding that the signing of the Anambra State Economic Planning And Development Bill, 2024 and Anambra State Local Government Administration Bill, 2024 into law by the Governor is in the best interest of the citizenry.

The Speaker commended the State Lawmakers for being thorough and precise in the discharge of their legislative duties especially the recent enactment of the Local Government Administration Law and State Economic Planning And Development Law, which he said, will enhance development at the council areas and also improve the living standard of the rural dwellers.

Rt. Hon. Udeze advised ndi Anambra not to allow few uninformed individuals to confuse them with falsehood in relation to the State Local Government Administration law, noting that the State Legislature will ensure that ndi Anambra reap the benefits of the Law.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, has called on the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) to collaborate on the campaign on social reformation to catch Anambra children young and stem the tide of moral degeneration, drug abuse, and get-rich syndrome now ravaging the youth population.

Speaking during his visit to the ASUBEB Chairman, Dr Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi, at her office in Awka, Mefor said he was seeking collaboration to help the newly created Anambra Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO) to take off and reorient the youths who have gone astray in terms of morals.

In her remarks, Dr. Nwadinobi assured the commissioner of ASUBEB’s support and decried the level of moral decadence in the society, blaming parents, churches, and others for not living up to expectations.

Dr Vera Nwadinobi made a presentation of a handbook on counselling against the burden of drug abuse and other social vices, which she co-authored with the first lady, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, and Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hon. Ify Obinabo.

* Anambra State Housing Commissioner, Hon. Pauly Onyeka has charged the members of Anambra State Chapter of Nigeria Institute of Architects to prioritize their activities towards transforming the environment by remaining united within the building sector for better development of the state .

The Commissioner, who was honored during the Anambra State Chapter of Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIASSC)’s Annual Conference at Oba Daniel Nwandu Architectural Research Center, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, noted that as professionals, they must conduct themselves in good manners, especially during interface with other professionals building professionals to avert problems in the construction industry .

Onyeka advised them to also pay attention to environmental architecture as they do in building architecture, adding further that they should key into Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s transformation agenda with his urban regeneration for a livable and prosperous smart mega city for ndi Anambra .

In his welcome address, the State Chairman of NIASSC , Arc. Ikenna Onuorah welcomed all the people to the event , saying that this year’s theme : Towards A Livable and Sustainable Urban City : Role of Professionalism in Planning and Construction ” was in line with Professor Chukwuma Soludo’s desire to address environmental problems facing the cities with more emphasis on challenges of professionalism.
