# Anambra government has reiterated its commitment to promote food security and sustainable agriculture in the state.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo stated this at the commemoration of the World Food Day with the theme “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future”
Represented by the State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, Soludo described farmers as being pivotal in the economy of the state.
During the event which featured a mega solidarity rally in support of his re election bid by farmers at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, the Governor called for closer collaboration with stakeholders in its transformative journey in the agric sector.
While emphasizing that the present administration has shown remarkable vision in the agricultural sector, he listed numerous impactful achievements recorded as well as interventions and support services to farmers.
# The Medical And Dental Consultants Association Of Nigeria, (MDCAN) Chukwumeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, (COOUTH)) Amaku, Awka, threatens to go on strike.
The group has given the Anambra State Government a twenty-one day ultimatum from 20th October, 2025, to extend the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure granted to Resident Doctors to them or face strike action by their members.
The Chairman of the association, Dr Amaechi Nwachukwu, flanked by members of the union, made this known in a media briefing at Amaku, Awka.
They said that they have met management of the hospital with their demand and was given promises that the issue would be resolved, but that the change is yet to reflect even in the soon to be paid October salary.
The MDCAN members noted that any payment to Resident Doctors is automatically extended to their bosses, but surprisingly; nothing of that nature happened despite the fact that members of MDCAN are the ones who train Resident Doctors and carry out all researches, including the ongoing one, saying that they will not hesitate to suspend the research, discharge all patients in the teaching hospital and halt all demonstrations to medical students using their patients if their demand for proper salary scale is not met.
They however appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for approving the payment of the Medical Residency Training Fund of the Resident Doctors, and for all he is doing in the state to boost health sector of the state, and noted that when Resident Doctors went on strike, MDCAN stepped in and filled the gap in solidarity with the government; showing that they want the best for everyone.

# The Chairman of Nnewi North LGA, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has debunk an allegation of demolition and extortion levelled against his administration by a section of rice traders at Agba Edo market Nnewi.
The debunk followed a video circulated online, in which a couple of market women alleged that their shops have been marked for demolition and each of them taxed to pay N3.1 million Naira for reallocation.
Reacting to an enquiry made by newsmen on Friday in his office, Hon. Anazodo dismissed the allegation as false, unfounded and a badly crafted politically orchestrated propaganda.
# The governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the November 8 Anambra Governorship Election, Dr. Paul Chukwuma, has joined the people of Onitsha in celebrating the 23rd Ofala Festival of His Royal Majesty, Obi Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, CFR, MNI — the Agbogidi, Obi of Onitsha.
In a goodwill message, Chukwuma described the revered monarch as a symbol of wisdom, peace, and visionary leadership whose reign has brought sustained harmony and progress to Onitsha Kingdom and beyond.
The YPP candidate noted that the Ofala Festival represents more than cultural pomp and pageantry, describing it as a reaffirmation of unity, identity, and continuity among the Onitsha people.
He lauded the Obi’s leadership, saying Onitsha under Achebe’s reign has remained “a beacon of progress, culture, and enlightenment across Anambra State and the entire Igbo land.”
Chukwuma prayed for God’s blessings upon the monarch, wishing him “long life, strength, and divine wisdom to continue to lead the kingdom in dignity and prosperity.”
# The Diocese of Aguata, Anglican Communion, has firmly denied endorsing any gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming November 8 election in Anambra State.
In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Communications of the Diocese, Mr. Abuchi Nwozor, the Church described as false and misleading a series of photographs circulating on social media which claim that the Diocese under the episcopacy of the Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor has endorsed a particular candidate.
The Diocese urged the public to disregard the images, describing them as a deliberate attempt to drag the Church into partisan politics.
The statement emphasized that the Aguata Diocese has not, and will not, align itself with any political party or candidate.
# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has extended his condolences over the death of late Rt. Hon. Agunwa Anaekwe, a former Speaker. House of Representatives.
In his remarks, Prof. Soludo at the burial mass for the late Anaekwe at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Adazi-Ani, emphasized on the importance of celebrating people’s legacies while they are still alive.
The Governor maintained that it is not how long lived but how well, reflecting on the impact the late Anaekwe made during his life and political career.
Accompanied by his wife Nonye, Governor Soludo while advocating for a culture of appreciation that emphasizes the value of living legacies, referenced Anambra’s burial law, which encourages the celebration of individuals for their contributions during their lifetimes; rather than solely in death.
Earlier, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, stated that in the race of conquering the world as God commanded, Christians should he mindful of the end, admonishing politicians that their work is service to the people.
Senator Osita Izunaso who represented the Senate President, Senator Goodwill Akpabio, said the late Anekwe was a national asset, discharged his duties creditably and distinguished himself in commitment to national building, while the Senator representing Anambra Central at the National Assembly, Chief Victor Umeh, thanked attendees and expressed pride that the late Hon. Anekwe was truly a respected man.
# Ahead of Anambra governorship election, voters have been charged to shun vote buying in the state.
Executive Director, Social and Integral Development Centre, (SIDEC), Mrs. Ugochi Ehiahuruike, gave the charge while addressing traders at Eke Igbo-Ukwu market in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
Addressing the traders mainly women, Ehiahuruike said, “Our message is simple – say no to vote trading. If you’re not ready to sell, the buyers will not come to you.”
