* The FGN/IFAD-VCDP has urged farmers to adopt nutrition-sensitive agriculture by growing home gardens. Anambra State Programme Coordinator, FGN IFAD VCDP, Mr. Nnamdi Agwuncha made the call this during a knowledge sharing exercise for farmers at Ogbaru and Orumba South Council Secrtariates respectively.

The exercise, which centered on nutrition sensitivity Agriculture, was aimed at promoting healthy living.

* Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo has thanked The President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu for organizing the 2023 Igbo Day. Soludo said all South East Governors support and believe in his leadership of the apex social cultural organization of Ndigbo, noting that there has been a remarkable difference after his swearing-in to office barely six months.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area, Hon. ThankGod Anago has re-stated his commitment to ensuring uninterrupted rice and cassava production in the council area. Anago disclosed this when he received the Anambra State representatives on the committee of the Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP)for Awka North Local Government Area in his office in Achalla, the headquarters of the local government.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has reassured continued partnership with the National Youth Corps, NYSC in developmental strides as the scheme has over the years been noted for policies and programmes targeted at uplifting the youths and development of the rural communities. Governor Soludo stated this during the 2023 edition of the NYSC Corps Employers’ Workshop  in Awka with the theme “Enhancing the Well-being of Corps Members for optimal Productivity”.

* In an effort to combat the spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus, HIV, the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency ANSACA, has partnered with the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). Currently, a two day Prevention Technical Working Group meeting is underway in Awka, where stakeholders are coming together to strengthen their collaboration and take a comprehensive approach to HIV prevention. The forum provides a platform to identify existing gaps and challenges in achieving the global target of 95% prevention, and participants are actively brainstorming strategies to address these gaps within the state.

* The Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for giving free education to students and pupils in Anambra public schools. Speaking at the Cathedral Church of Saint John, Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area during the 2023 annual harvest and paying of homage of the diocese, Bishop Ezeofor remarked how he and his wife sang the Universal Free Education song of the 1970s which was on the lips of every child enjoying free primary education then few days before the announcement, adding that the recent heartwarming announcement by the Governor deserves thanks.

* Anambra Arts and Crafts Exhibition has kicked off in Awka, the state capital. Declaring the four-day event opened, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, said the event is necessary for human capital development in the state. On his part, the Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji said Governor Chukwuma Soludo is determined to discover abundant talents in the state and expose them to local and international markets.

* The usual monthly  sanitation exercise was held on Saturday, 30th September, 2023 simultaneously in all the communities and local government areas of Anambra state within the hours of 7am – 10am.
