* The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN, Anambra State Branch has joined its counterparts across Nigeria to celebrate their annual Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, programme. As part of the activities to mark the programme, members of ANAN, Anambra State branch visited Community Secondary School, Amawbia and Model Community Children’s Home, Awka to encourage and give them a sense of belonging.

* Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioners for Information and Health to play a lead role in collaboration with concerned stakeholders, to educate ndi Anambra on the various provisions of the “Compulsory Treatment and Care for victims of gunshot Act, 2017”, in other to save lives. Chief sponsor of the motion Hon. Chidiebele Ibemeka while making his submission said the “Compulsory Treatment and Care for victims of Gunshot Act, 2017” was enacted by the National Assembly and was signed into Law in 2017 to accord immediate attention to victims of gunshot and accident without the request of a police report. 

* A fake land agent, Mr Rapuluchukwu Kachi, has been arrested for selling a land belonging to someone else to his sister, for the burial of their mother. Kachi who was paraded at the Zone 13 police command, after he was arrested, confessed to selling the land to a businesswoman, Mrs Ogechukwu Mbonu who is also his sister, who later buried her late mother on the land.

* The Sector Commander FRSC, Anambra state Command Corps Commander, Adeoye Irelewuyi has paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Somto Udeze. 

Irelewuyi informed the Speaker on the importance of registration of Anambra State shuttle buses, trycycles and motorcycles on FRSC centralized data base to reduce the incident of theft, and also aid easy trace when stolen.

* The newly completed 1200-capacity student hostel and dinning facility at Saint John Science and Technical College, Alor in Idemili South Local Government Area has been commissioned by the Archibishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev Valerian Okeke. ANN gathered that the facility was conceived by the World Bank through the Anambra State government and were initiatiated and constructed by the former Governor Willie Obiano and completed by Onitsha Archdiocese. 

* Obosi community has embarked on security awareness road work to sensitize indigenes and residents to shun crime and eschew vices that portray their image in a bad light. The awareness campaign took the President General, members of the Central Executives and Vigilante operatives round the five quarters of the community.

* Operations Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade has paraded six suspects for drugs trafficking, phone snatching, cable vandalism and other related crimes. ANN gathered that the suspects were arrested in different places during raids by OCHA Brigade and Anambra state Vigilante Service in Awka and Bridge Head Onitsha. 

* Chairman of Anambra State Sports Development Commission Hon. Patrick-Estate Onyedum and Humphrey Anuna, President General of Anambra State Amalgamated Market Traders Association (ASMATA) in Awka and Onitsha respectively has kicked off the much anticipated Traders Sports Competition commenced across the eight venues in the State. ANN reports that at the Awka Centre holding at the All Saints Church, field, Amaenyi, Onyedum kicked off the game between Odera Market and Arthur Eze Market Awka which ended 9-2 in favour Odera Market team 

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has been commended for transforming the educational sector in Anambra state especially in the area of basic education. The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mammam who made the commendation, urged states in the country to emulate the Anambra state government. Mammam made this known when Governor Soludo paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Education, in Abuja, where he acquainted him with the achievements he has made in the state education sector.

* Anambra assembly at plenary on Thursday considered and adopt a report from the house committee on public petition on the petition against the General Manager of Anambra State Physical and Planning Board (ANSPPB) and Executive Secretary of Ihiala Planning Authority for gross misuse and abuse of public office, illegal enforcement of development control and unlawful demolition of private property belonging to Ogbuefi Chinedu Orjiako. The member representing Anambra West Constituency Hon. Obi Nweke who is the house committee Chairman on public petitions while presenting the report said the concerned parties were invited by the committee who sat for several date on the matter. 

* The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu, has said the state government will disbursed the Federal Government’s palliatives allotted to the state via umunna ( kindred) level. Nwosu stated this in a statement recently.
