* In line with his vision to make Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) a medical tourist center in West Africa, Prof Joseph Ugboaja OON, Chief Medical Director, has embarked on a fact-finding mission to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
The hospital’s 12-megawatt solar power project, executed by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) under the Energising Education Power Project, caught Prof Ugboaja’s attention due to its similarity in capacity, power requirements, and logistical complexities to NAUTH.
During his visit, Prof Ugboaja met with Prof Ahmed Ahidjo, UniMaid’s Chief Medical Director, to explore potential collaborations in information, personnel, and technical exchanges. He also engaged with the Chinese company managing the solar project to discuss replicating the initiative in Nnewi.
This move aligns with the federal government’s efforts to provide quality and affordable healthcare, as exemplified by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s interventions in the health sector and Prof Muhammed Ali Pate’s Health Sector Renewal and Investment Initiative (HSRII).
* Security operatives have gunned down one member of an armed robbery gang who specialize in robbing unsuspecting persons living in Ifite, while going to church early on Sundays.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Sunday morning around 6am as some residents of Ifite in Awka were going for Sunday Mass.
One of the victim (name withheld) who works with a popular joint in Awka who was robbed of her phone and other items said the gang members were three, but only one of them was gunned down.
* The Mayor of Idemili South local government area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has said, walking has been identified medically and socially as the most effective and easiest form of physical exercise.
According to her, walking a kilometer or more everyday helps body and brain function very well.
She encouraged Ndi Anambra and the people of Idemili South to maintain a healthy lifestyle by engaging in exercise and eating natural food.

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze says the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke is truly one of the outstanding Prelates with full anointing of God.
Felicitating Archbishop Okeke on behalf of the State Legislature as he marks his 71st birthday, through a release signed by

The Speaker who described Archbishop Okeke as a renowned Theologian and Disciplinarian, recounted his glorious tenure as the Rector of the Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu where he made impressive marks in the lives of the then Seminarians who are now doing well as priests in their various stations of service.
He called on priests and the laity council under the Onitsha Archdiocese to join hands with Archbishop Okeke in advancing the work of God, adding that the Prelate has distinguished himself among his contemporaries in terms of effective church administration and sound evangelism.
Rt. Hon. Udeze prayed God to continue to bless Archbishop Okeke’s Archiepiscopate for the benefit of the people of God and grant him long life and sound health to enable him to record more accomplishments to the glory of God.
* Labour Party (LP) frontline aspirant for the 2025 governorship election in Anambra Chief Barth Nwibe has congratulated Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha on his 23rd Ofala festival which also marked his 23 years on the revered Onitsha traditional stool.
Nwibe, a businessman and philanthropist in his message on Saturday said Achebe was an epitome of royalty and traditional ruler who had attracted respect to not just Anambra but the entire Nigeria from across the world.
He thanked God for sustaining the life and health of the traditional ruler for the years he had mediated between the ancestors and people of Onitsha and more importantly giving him the wisdom with which he had discharged his duty.
* The newly inaugurated camps management committee for Anambra West Local Government Area Internally displaced persons for flood victims has take awareness campaign to difference communities for them to move to the camps provided by the government.
Among the communities visited includes, Umueze Anam, Umuoba/ Abugbu Anam and Mmiata Anam. According to their spokesperson, the awareness will equally go other communities they are yet to visit today.
The committee was led by Deputy Chairman, Hon. Mrs Edith Nkeiru Ndive on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor.
The committee in their message called on those living in coastal areas to relocate to higher grounds as the local government in conjunction with the state government have made adequate arrangements to accommodate them in two separate camps located at Onitsha and Umueri.
* The Anambra State Women Leader of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Mrs Esther Onyekesi has urged newly inaugurated executives of Soludo Women Movement, Anambra East chapter to take the message of continuity of good governance to every doorstep in their wards.
Mrs Onyekesi said, Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo CFR has broken the jinx by awarding over 500km of roads, declared free education, free antenatal and free delivery services in the state, building three general hospitals and many others and therefore, all hands should be on deck to achieve the main purpose of the group.
While appreciating the Coordinator of Soludo Women Movement, Lady Ify Atogu, she charged the executives and other members of the group to take the message of Solution good governance to every household so that all the women in their wards will be part of the movement. She also emphasized the importance of unity among them and urged them to collaborate effectively for the progress of the party.
* Philanthropist, High Chief Azubuike Ekweozor has through his Charity organization, “Ide Global Movement”, given scholarship to five outstanding students of St. John’s Innovation Institute of Management and Technology, JIIMATECH, Neni, in Anaocha Local Government Area.
The students received the scholarship from “Ide Global Movement”, during the 2024 exhibition ceremony of the institution.
Chief Ekweozor also through the non governmental organization, supported the school with the sum of five hundred thousand (500,000) naira during the event.
* Anambra State Football Association Chairman and Former Super Eagles player, Gen Chikelue Iloenyosi has voiced his displeasure and disappointment at what he termed “unprofessional service” of one on Nigerian local airline company, Aero-contractor.
Iloenyosi described it as unprofessional and disregard of duty of the highest order. He explained that the airline he boarded from Lagos to Abuja diverted his luggage to Calabar instead of the same Abuja without his knowledge or approval.
“I am highly disappointed in this airline. This is the highest form of unprofessionalism. How can you divert my luggage that contains sensitive personal belongings that I need to Calabar without my consent. For an airline as big as Aero, this is an unacceptable situation. I am considering legal action against them because of this huge disservice they have given me.”
Iloenyosi went further to disclose that the company has not given him any tangible reason for such actions.

with Correctional Inmates.
Archbishop Okeke presented bags of rice, bags of beans, cartons of biscuits, slaughtered life cow, assorted tissue paper, birthday cake, amongst others to the inmates.
In his homily, the Prelate advised christians to always express gratitude to God for the gift of life and other blessings
He noted that thanksgiving is a gratitude for God’s blessings, defining gratitude as a feeling for favour obtained from some other person or getting something from someone.
