# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has conveyed his earnest felicitations to His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Maduka Okeke, the Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Onitsha, on the occasion of his birthday.
Governor Soludo, in his goodwill message, described Archbishop Okeke as a towering pillar of faith, a bastion of hope, and a quintessential embodiment of the spirit of excellence, integrity, and service to God and mankind.
The Governor eulogised the Archbishop for his over two decades of dynamic leadership at the helm of the Onitsha Archdiocese. He noted that under Archbishop Okeke’s spiritual guidance, the Church has witnessed remarkable growth, not only in faith but also in its commitment to education, healthcare, and humanitarian services, which have profoundly impacted the lives of countless citizens.
Prof. Soludo further highlighted the Archbishop’s steadfast partnership and support for the State Government’s initiatives, particularly in fostering unity, moral rejuvenation, and development agenda for a liveable and prosperous homeland.
# The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, has reaffirmed his commitment to continue working with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo in building a brighter future for Anambra.
Reflecting on his one year in office during the visit of the executive members of the Abatete Born-again Christians Association (ABACA) to his office in Awka, Mefor said he perceived his appointment a year and six months after Soludo assumed office as a task to rebase the Solution Government’s information and communication system for Mr Governor’s achievements to be seen and heard, which has yielded positive results.
Mefor stressed the need for Ndị Anambra to understand and support Soludo’s vision and dream of making the state Africa’s Dubai, Taiwan, or Silicon Valley, for which he’s already building the foundation and pillars through some infrastructural facilities like the Solution Fun City, the Light House, and the Anambra Beltway – a conscious attempt to create and recreate Anambra for the future, among others.
# Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Monday October 20th 2025, flagged-off
2025 ember month public enlightenment and sensitization campaign, nationwide.
In his address, Corps Marshal, FRSC, Shahu Mohammed represented by Anambra Commander. Bridget Asekhauno, maintained that the ember month campaign is a yearly tradition through which the Corps intensifies its advocacy and public awareness on the need for safer road use.
Responding to questions from journalists during the press conference at her office in Awka, Asekhauno revealed that from January – October 2025, 57 road crashes has occurred in Anambra, out of which 21 persons have died, 144 persons injured.
Comdt. Asekhauno said most of the road crashes was as a result of over speeding and that a stakeholder meeting will be held.
” On Wednesday 22nd October, we will be going round Anambra, including motor parks, together with the unit commanders, sensitizing drivers and road users, on the need to take responsibility of their own safty.
“We are going to have a town hall meeting stakeholders, drivers, road users and other traffic agencies to ensure that we are in same page”. Asekhauno concluded.
# The local government Chairman of Njikoka, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, has commended Hon. Jude Akpua for the installation of solar-powered streetlights across communities in the in Constituency.
Hon. Ononiba gave the commendation during commissioning ceremony at Chime Hall, Orofia Village Abagana, describing the project as “a timely intervention that will enhance security, improve night-time, and promote community safety.”
According to the Mayor, the initiative reflects responsible and people-oriented representation.
In his response, Hon. Akpua who is the lawmaker representing Njikoka Two Constituency and the Deputy Majority Leader, Anambra State House of Assembly stated that the project was part of his commitment to improving infrastructure in the constituency.
The legislator also called for continued cooperation between government officials and community leaders to attract more developmental projects to the constituency.
# The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor says skilling unskilled youths is one of the cardinal policies of Governor Chukwuma Soludo with the aim of taking Anambra youths off the streets as certificates are no longer enough.
Dr. Mefor while speaking in a training by
the Anambra State Ministry of Information, in collaboration with Young Women In Enterprise, a mentorship organisation powered by Barr. Chisom Jane Ikechukwu, and other partners, held in various skills for young women in Awka, appreciated the organisation for empowering youths with various skills.
The Information Commissioner expressed the Solution Government’s commitment towards equipping youths with skills to better their future.
The Commissioner further advised the participants to learn to be financially disciplined and to utilise the opportunity offered by the Solution Innovation District (SID) to learn digital skills, adding that the Governor believes that Anambra’s future is in innovation and tech.
In her remarks, Miss Chisom Jane Ikechukwu explained that the programme is intended to help young women acquire skills to better their lives.
# Despite perceived political differences between former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of Labour Party in 2023, Mr Peter Obi with incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, supporter of the former have endorsed Soludo for a second term in office.
Prominent supporter of Mr Peter Obi, and leader of Obidient Movement (a political pressure group supporting Peter Obi), Hon Ikenna Azomchine who is also known as Obidient General disclosed the support of the group to Prof Soludo, during a press conference on Monday in Awka.
Azomchine said the Obidient Movement has taken time to assess the government of Prof Soludo and have concluded that he meets all the criteria considered as part of good governance by the movement and so members of the group in Anambra have decided to support him.
# It was a day of joy, gratitude, and celebration as family members, colleagues, dignitaries, and friends from far and near gathered to honor a man whose life story continues to inspire — Comrade Martin Obimbekwe.
At a special Thanksgiving Mass and 60th Birthday Celebration, the atmosphere was filled with songs of praise, heartfelt emotions, and overwhelming admiration for a man who defied the odds and made history in Nigeria’s public service.
Despite being visually impaired, Comrade Obimbekwe rose through the ranks with determination and faith. He became the first blind man in the entire South East to contest and win a public election, serving as a branch Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Anambra state Chapter.
His pursuit of excellence continued as he came first overall in the Grade Level 13–14 promotion examination, and later first again in the Grade Level 15–16 promotion examination, competing on equal footing with sighted colleagues across the 21 local government.
# Anambra State Commissioner of Police Cp. Ikioye Orutugu has eulogized the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Anambra State chapter for their positive impact on the society and its members for their display of professionalism in journalistic reportage.
These he said during a familiarization visit paid to him by the members of the association in his office at Awka, command headquarters.
CP. Orutugu said that he has passion for the welfare women and children, He therefore enjoined NAWOJ to create forums to educate women more on their rights, safety as there are many cases of abuse against women in the state, and also to expose them to their enormous responsibilities as mothers in their respective home to achieve a better society.
