# Ahead of the November 8th Governorship election, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to count and announce the votes.
Governor Soludo who was speaking at Awka South local government area rally for his second term re-election, laid emphasis on transparent, free, fair, credible election, expressing optimism that the All Progressives Grand Alliance will clinch victory in 5720 polling units, across the state, come November, eight.
Soludo appreciated the people of Awka South for the solidarity, promising that when elected, over the next four years, Anambra will transform beyond recognition.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim and the former National Chairman of APGA, Ozonkpu Victor Oye and Chief Azubuike Ekweozor who hail from the area, described APGA campaign as a movement, calling on their people to mobilize nothing less than three point five million votes.
# INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Anambra State, Dr. Elizabeth Agwu, expressed appreciation to journalists for their consistent support to the Commission since her assumption of office.
Agwu while speaking at a forum for media executives, reporters, producers, and on-air personalities, said the media remain an indispensable partner in promoting transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
“Reporters have been fair to INEC. You help us to push out information, and when we fall short, you correct us in the proper way. This engagement is our way of saying we appreciate you,” she said.
She praised the media for helping to douse political tension and simplify complex electoral issues for public understanding, describing journalists as “partners in progress.”
# The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, recently hosted the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) stakeholders in Abatete.
The event, which was part of efforts to ensure the re-election of Governor Chukwuma Soludo during the November 8th gubernatorial election, featured the inauguration of Abatete community’s campaign council.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner Mefor highlighted the achievements of Governor Soludo in the area of health, education and human capital development, among others, from which Abatete has benefited.
According to Mefor, Ndi Anambra can testify that Mr Governor has performed well enough to deserve re-election.
# TENS of school children, who attend public primary schools in Idemili North LGA of Anambra state, received scholarship awards, which was given by the Igboebisi Empowerment Foundation (IEF) and Kosisochukwu Iweka Child Development Foundation (KCF).
The maiden Idemili North Scholarship Awards, which was one of the events scheduled to take place to presage the celebration of the Obiora/Iwaji festival of the Obosi ancient kingdom, took place at the Obosi township stadium.
During the event, the Anambra state commissioner for education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, who stood in for Gov. Chukwuma Soludo, reiterated the importance of organizations’ embrace of the public private community partnership while saying that any reigning government is imparmenent; and as such, no leader can redefine society, solely.
Chuma-Udeh thanked the Igboebisi Empowerment Foundation and Kosisochukwu Iweka Child Development Foundation, profusely, for sponsoring the First Idemili North Scholarship Award, the aim of which is to offer brilliant pupils from poor homes the opportunity to acquire quality education.
# The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed its readiness to conduct a peaceful, transparent, and credible governorship election in Anambra State on November 8, 2025.
Speaking at a forum for media executives, reporters, producers, and on-air personalities, the Commission said the media remain an indispensable partner in promoting transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
The event, organized under the theme of partnership and shared purpose, was aimed at strengthening democracy through credible information and responsible communication.
INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Mr. Sam Olumekun, represented by Wilfred Ifogha, Deputy Director of Information and Publicity, said the engagement was a reaffirmation of the Commission’s openness and collaboration with the media.
Olumekun commended journalists for their professionalism and balanced reportage during recent elections in the state, noting that their work “continues to serve as the oxygen of democracy, enlightening citizens, holding institutions accountable, and bridging the gap between the governed and those who govern.”
# Igala people from different communities in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State but residents in Anambra have held their general meeting; during which the “Onuh Igala”/ “Ogohi Attah Igala” of Anambra State, Chief Dr. Mohammed Sanni Alih, announced the maiden Igala Day Celebration scheduled to hold on 1st November 2025 at Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area.
Speaking after the meeting held at a member’s residence at Ifitedunu, Dunukofia LGA, Chief Alih said it was a pleasure for Igala people resident in the state meeting to chart way forward for the benefit of members, and declared support for the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration and re-election bid.
On his part, the Chairman of Ibaji Association in Anambra, Chief Christian Ajogwu, urged members to always be of good conduct in the state, and thanked Governor Soludo for ensuring that Anambra remains conducive for all residents of the state, including non-indigenes.
# Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor has assured collaboration with the National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) to lift tourism to the highest level in Nigeria and beyond.
Dr. Mefor gave the assurance when he received the Director General of the National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, Dr Mrs Ebele Nzekwe, and her team on a courtesy visit at his office in Awka, said the state was ready to partner with the institute to find ways of deepening their efforts to achieve greater results, including affiliations with higher institutions in the state.
Mefor maintained that Anambra has the potential of being turned into a tourism destination in Nigeria. He revealed that
Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has taken practical steps towards uplifting the tourism industry by intentionally establishing the Solution Fun City.
In her speech, the State Director of the institute, Dr. Mrs Nzekwe, explained that the visit was to familiarise and integrate themselves more in the state, adding that one of the institute’s objectives is to educate, train, certify and register personnel in the field of hospitality, travel and tourism and equip practitioners in the industry to cope with the dynamics in the field of tourism.
According to the Director, the institute, which has done many programmes, has been existing for a long time and operating from the Enugu Zonal Office until the Anambra Office was created this year.
# The Nibo community in Awka South LGA was electrified as illustrious son and philanthropist, Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe, empowered 20 young people with N1 million each to start businesses of their choice.
The beneficiaries, selected after a rigorous screening process supervised by a committee headed by Chief Douglas Aniemena, submitted viable business proposals to qualify for the grant.
The well-attended event, tagged “Nibo 20 for 20 Ceremony,” was held at the Nibo Civic Centre and presided over by the traditional ruler of Nibo, His Royal Highness Eze MC Ngene (Ezeike Nibo).
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Okelekwe, who is renowned for his inspiring rags-to-riches story, urged the beneficiaries to be courageous, disciplined, and determined to become billionaires from the humble support they received.
