* Saint Patrick’s College Awka will represent Anambra State at the ninth edition of the National Quiz Competition on Legislature and Democracy organized by the National Institute For Legislative And Democratic Studies (NILDS) in Abuja.
Saint Patrick’s College clinched the slot after beating other five schools that participated in the competition that held in Awka, Anambra State capital.
Declaring the competition open, the Speaker, Anambra State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze said the competition is an important platform to engage the youths who are the future leaders and empower them with the knowledge and understanding of legislative processes and democratic values.
* The residents of Ossomala, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, have expressed their profound gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for providing a solar-powered water facility to the community, assuring to pay him back at the ripe of time.
The residents gave the commendation and assurance was during the technical handover of a solar-powered Small Town Water Scheme, built for the community by the Soludo Administration through the State Ministry of Power and Water Resources.
Speaking on behalf of his people, the President General of Ossomala, Mr. Omebu Obidi, who was visibly elated by the project, commended Governor Soludo for bringing a lasting solution to the water challenges long faced by the community.
* The former Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Josephine Anenih, has charged the Anambra State congress committee to conduct a credible and transparent state congress for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Anenih, made the call while speaking shortly after a failed congress of the party on Saturday in Awka, Anambra State capital.
The former minister added that if the committee conducts a credible congress, it will be the only committee that has been faithful to the state in organizing such an event.
She urged the congress committee members to shun all forms of inducements and conduct a free and fair state congress that would stabilize the party for the Anambra State 2025 gubernatorial poll and beyond.
* The CEO of Stelconic Properties Limited, Sir Chukwuemeka Orjiakor, has called on the Anambra State government to ensure that all children are removed from the streets and returned to school.
Orjiakor while speaking praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s free education policy, emphasizing that it leaves no room for parents or guardians to neglect their children’s education.
Orjiakor, a former Deputy Chairman of Awka South Local Government, commended the initiative, describing it as a well-conceived plan that offers a golden opportunity for every child in Anambra State to receive an education, regardless of their parents’ or guardians’ financial standing.
* The Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Hon. Patrick Estate Onyedum, has been honored with an award from the Nigeria Volleyball Association.
The award, presented during the closing ceremony of a 10-day Volleyball Referees Course, celebrated Onyedum’s relentless efforts to promote and uplift volleyball as a key sport in Anambra State.
Onyedum’s leadership was acknowledged as a pivotal factor in advancing the sport’s growth in the region.
The award was accepted on his behalf by the Director of Sports, Emeka Obidimma, who reiterated the Commission’s ongoing commitment to the development of volleyball and other sports in the state.
* Sir Paul Chukwuma’s Campaign Council has constituted a youth coalition as part of the effort to drive support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Anambra State, in the coming governorship election.
The youth coalition drawn from various youth bodies, has a presence in the twenty-one local governments of Anambra State.
In his opening remarks at the inauguration of the coalition on Saturday, the Director General of Sir Paul Chukwuma Campaign Council, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, said that anyone who has interfaced with Sir Paul Chukwuma can attest that he is fit and suitable to be Anambra’s governor at this time.
* Students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Awka, and other citizens of Anambra State have been tasked to get involved in governance to put an end to bad governance and poor representation.
The State Support Officer, Open Parly Nigeria in Anambra, Ujunwa Ananwude, made the appeal when she led other Community of Practice (CoP) members on a road show and Civic Education programme carried out around the University Community to sensitize students and other residents about governance and the need to periodically hold their representatives accountable for their stewardship.
Open Parly is anchored by a Non-Governmental Organization, Connected Development (CODE) and supported by Magamba Network, to awaken the consciousness of the citizens towards making representative democracy yield positive results in the country.

Orogbu while reacting to the killings stated that the insecurity in Anambra State has reached catastrophic levels, and it is imperative that the state government and security agencies take immediate and decisive action

CODE’s State Support Officer, Ujunwa Ananwude, made the call during a debate competition organized under the Open Parly Nigeria project, one of CODE’s many activities supported by Magamba Network for students of Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu to gauge their understanding on how social media influence youth participation in civic engagement.
The State Support Officer said the project focuses on ensuring that representative democracy serves the greater good of the people in Nigeria.
