# The Anambra State Ministry of Youth Development has held a thanksgiving service to appreciate God for the success of its youth empowerment programme.

Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba, said the event was to thank God for Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the achievements recorded in empowering over 8,300 beneficiaries of the batch two of the 1Youth2Skills Plus Solution Initiative

He described the programme as a massive and unprecedented initiative focused on job creation and youth development, adding that plans are underway for a third phase to engage about 20,000 more beneficiaries.

The Commissioner assured that the programme is well structured through cooperative groups, mentorship, and monitoring systems to ensure funds are properly utilized.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has
detailed his administration’s impressive achievements and ambitious plans for the future, focusing on building a better and more prosperous Anambra.

Speaking on a national television, Soludo proudly outlined the significant strides his administration has made since assuming office, emphasizing that his government has laid a strong foundation for a smart, secure, livable, and prosperous homeland.

According to the Governor, notable achievements include a revival and transformation of public education, positioning Anambra as a leader in the sector across Nigeria, highlighted the restoration of peace and security in the state, ensuring that Anambra now enjoys a fresh sense of safety.

Additionally, Governor Soludo reported that Anambra has been ranked the best in healthcare delivery nationwide, stated that his administration has pioneered a unique youth development and empowerment model, equipping young people with the necessary skills and opportunities for success.

Furthermore, the governor mentioned the opening of road access in communities such as Okpoko, Nzam, Awba Ofemmili, Awa, Umuomaku, and Ikenga—areas that have recently seen their first-ever tarred roads, noted that these achievements are just the tip of the iceberg.

# The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, has extolled the efforts of the Anambra State Government in making the budget and budgeting process considerably organic to respond to changing circumstances, unlike Nigeria and other states.

Speaking at a Stakeholders Consultative Forum for the 2026 Budget, organised by the Ministry of Budget and Planning, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), at the Best Western Meloch Hotel, Awka, Mefor observed that from his experience in analysing the budget at the Senate, the Nigerian budget has always been an annual ritual of repetition of items, showing that Nigeria can do without a budget.

The Commissioner opined that no year’s budget should be like the other because things are changing in terms of priorities and the fact that the budget itself is dynamic.

He commended the organisers and facilitators of the forum for their good jobs and for bringing traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders to the forum, urging them to ensure they put their inputs to use.

# Idemili South Soludo/Ibezim campaign team arrived Awka-Etiti ward 1 with the message of continuity of good governance.

Welcoming the campaign team, APGA ward 1 Chairman, Hon. Ifeanyi Metuh said, the community had been voting massively for All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and will double their votes.

In her address, the location government Chairman of Idemili-South, Dr. Mrs Amaka Obi noted that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has touched every local government in Anambra State, and Awka-Etiti has benefited in the Solution government.

While highlighting the achievements of Mr. Governor especially in road construction, healthcare sector, human capital development and education, the Mayor maintained that Anambra has witnessed unprecedented growth and development in less than four years.

# Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor has reacted to
a report circulating in some media outlets, alleging that Governor Chukwuma Soludo plans to arrest and jail Catholic bishops and priests after his reelection.

In a press statement made available to Angel Network News (ANN), Mefor maintained that the report is a fabricated story

“We categorically state that this report is entirely false, baseless, and malicious. This fabrication is a clear example of misinformation and fake news designed to create tension and undermine the peaceful atmosphere in the state.

“Obviously, a handiwork of shadow opposition who have dwelt essentially on propaganda for want of campaign materials, they are advised to face their fizzling campaigns.

“The Anambra State Government, therefore, assures the public, particularly the Catholic Church of which Soludo is a staunch member, and its leaders that Governor Soludo has no such plans or intentions. The government respects the rights and freedoms of all citizens, including religious leaders.

“We urge Ndị Anambra to disregard this false report and always demand virtual evidence before accepting or sharing such inflammatory stories.

“Meanwhile, the Solution Government remains committed to continuing the fight against fake native doctors, fake Ndi Eze nwanyi, and fake clergymen and women, which has resulted in ‘Oso Soludo’, and it must be sustained.

“Furthermore, the Anambra State Government will collaborate with the Federal Government to fish out and rid the state of certificate forgers”. Mefor stated

# The Chairman Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Iweka III, has advised youths against indulging in Drug abuse, Cultism, Crimes and all forms of Criminality which are capable of ruining their bright future.

Eze Iweka III while speaking at his palace in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, during the Obiora/Iwaji Youth Carnival 2025, reminded them that as future leaders they should desire to attain prominence like Former Secretary to Commonwealth, Emeka Anyaoku among some other illustrious sons and daughters of Obosi Community.

“Firstly, Obiora Obosi which some refer to as Ofalla is not just a time for New Yam harvest and Festival but a time of peace and unity. It is time to love your neighbor as yourself and share your yarn with the less privileged.

“I advise young people that as the future leaders, Doctors, Lawyers and professionals they must abstain from certain lifestyles like of hard drugs, criminality, prostitution, Cultism. For instance, Cultism is a One way street, you can’t come out, even if you renounce, you will be mowed down during cult clashes.

“I tell youths everywhere to abstain from such vices to enable them achieve prominence like Emeka Anyaoku (Adazie Obosi) and others.

# The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) for Zone 13 Ukpo, AIG. Abayomi Peter Oladipo, alongside other senior officers of his management team, hosted a delegation from the National Peace Committee (NPC).

The meeting, held at the Zonal Headquarters in Ukpo, Dunukofia LGA, focused on collaborative efforts ahead of the November 2025 off-cycle gubernatorial election in Anambra State.

The high-level delegation was led by Rev. Fr. Atta Barkindo, Executive Director of The Kukah Centre and Head of Secretariat for the NPC.

In his remarks, AIG Oladipo commended the NPC for its pivotal role in fostering peaceful elections across Nigeria. He reiterated his supervisory mandate over the police commands within Zone 13, which includes Anambra State, and provided assurances of the Force’s preparedness.

The AIG advised all electoral stakeholders to abide by the rule of law and adhere to principles of a peaceful electoral process. He also expressed his appreciation to the founder of the National Peace Committee for their steadfast commitment to democracy in Nigeria.

In his speech, Rev. Fr. Atta Barkindo revealed that the committee, established in 2015, is tasked with promoting peaceful elections, mitigating conflicts, and safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic processes.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 13 Ukpo, and the National Peace Committee demonstrating a unified commitment and strategic alignment towards achieving a peaceful, free, and fair gubernatorial election in Anambra State come November 2025.

# Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gender Section, have successfully rescued two missing children, Sunday Aliya (14 years) and Ebenezer Emmanuel (12 years), after nine months of intensive and intelligence-led investigation that extended across several States of the Federation.

The Case was first reported at Fegge Police Station on 18th January 2025 revealing that the guardian of the victims sent the two boys to fetch water at a nearby borehole, but they failed to return home.

Following the initial investigation, the Case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for further action.

According to a press statement released by SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the Operatives acting on credible intelligence, traced and arrested one Yusuf in Katsina State.

“During interrogation, the suspect provided valuable leads which guided the operatives to Umunede, Delta State, where one of the victims, Sunday Aliya, was rescued. Further investigation led to the recovery of the second victim, Ebenezer Emmanuel, in Benin City, Edo State”. Ikenga stated.

Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikioye Orutugu, while commending the operatives for their perseverance and professionalism, reiterated the Command’s resolve to follow every lead in any Case, no matter how long it takes, to ensure that justice is served.
