* Obosi Community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State has declared war against criminals. ANN gathered that the community has been a hotbed for crime, especially drug and cult related activities, and has witnessed several killings, including the gruesome murder of a former President General of the community. In what looked like taking the bull by the horn, the Central Executive Council of the community’s leadership, Obosi Development Union (ODU) on Wednesday embarked on a one day awareness campaign to express readiness to secure their land.
* Executive Director Operations in the Anambra Internal Revenue Services, AiRS Dr Christian Madubuko has described those calling for his removal as idiots. He said they do not have the powers to remove him, noting that only the governor can remove him. Madubuko however denied any crisis in the Revenue House contending that he has no issues with the Chairman of the Revenue Services Dr. Greg Ezeilo, challenging those he called rumors mungers to come out in the open to state those that are having problems in the Revenue House.
* The National Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS), Nnamdi Azikiwe University Chapter has installed Mr. Osita Onuko, the Managing Director/CEO of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), as the first ever Patron of the Association. This is coming days after the úgly altercation with the driver of GUO Transport Limited at Unizik Junction, Awka where some thugs alleged to be his boys were seen battering the driver with matchet.
* The 2023 Alumni homecoming and award presentation of the faculty of Management Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has come and gone with a charge on universities to establish the database of their grandaunts.The event, held at the ASSU NAU Secretariat Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, attracted the cremé la cremé of the society including the academia, politicians, captains of industry, traditional rulers and the university community.
* The Governor of Rotary International District 9142, Rotarian Ekan Emah, has called for the celebration of those who have contributed immensely to human capital development.
Speaking at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka when he led other Rotarians in District 9142; comprising all the states in the Southeast, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States on a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Charles Esimone, Rotarian Emah stressed the need for the people to always assist those in need.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North, Comrade ThankGod Anago has inaugurate Local Government and Ward Executives at the conference hall in Achalla. The Mayor of Awka North charged every member of the All Progressives Grand Alliances, (APGA) to remain worthy ambassadors of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration in Anambra State. According to the TC Chairman, Governor Soludo who is the National Leader of the party has initiated countless laudable policies, programmes and projects across communities in the state with great impacts on Ndi Awka North and Ndi Anambra as a whole.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has launched the Anambra Special Anti-Touting Squad at Upper Iweka, Onitsha. Speaking at the launching, Governor Soludo reiterated that the days of touts in the state are numbered and a full blown war has been declared on them. The Governor maintained that in an environment where lawlessness has become a culture, bringing back law and order will be difficult.
* Community leadership has changed hands in Ogidi, the hometown of Nigeria literary legend, Prof. Chinua Achebe. The new leadership was produced by an election that held at the Town Hall of the Idemili North community of Anambra State, which saw Chief Ikwuka Okoye polling the highest vote cast in the keenly contested election. The election, which was adjudged free, fair and credible, saw over two thousand eligible citizens of the community throng the Hall to vote their choice among the four candidates.
* The Lawmaker representing Nnewi North Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Onyekachukwu Ike, has stated that he has no regret for the former national leader of Young Progressives Party (YPP) and the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District at National Assembly, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah joining the ruling-All Progressive Congress (APC), recently. He equally said plans are ongoing to assume office as the National Leader of the Young Progressive Party.
* Three unidentified persons have been burnt alive in communities Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State. Residents woke up to see three corpses in flames at different locations in the region. The regions include Junction of Utuh community, along the Ọnụ Soroọgụ Road, and Amannalụ Junction, Ebenator. While two corpses were roasted at the Utuh Junction, one was roasted at the Ebenator junction.
