# As the November 8th 2025 Anambra Governorship Election nears, the newly appointed INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN), has pledged to deliver elections that are free, fair and credible.

Speaking at the INEC headquarters in Abuja after assuming office, Prof. Amupitan reaffirmed his commitment to integrity, transparency, and teamwork, describing the Anambra poll as a litmus test for the Commission’s credibility.

“The eyes of the nation are upon us. We must ensure every voter believes their vote counts,” he stated.

He assured staff of the Commission of improved welfare and urged unity across departments to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

Earlier, outgoing Acting Chairman Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu had welcomed him, expressing confidence in his ability to build on the Commission’s reforms and innovations.

# Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has nominated journalists from Anambra State for their outstanding contributions and professionalism.

Their letters of nomination from the National Executive Committee nomination signed by Ikenna Okonkwo, Secretary General of SWAN were received by Chimezie Anaso, Chairman of Anambra chapter.

The SWAN @60 Award and Appeal Fund Ceremony will hold between Oct. 29 and Oct. 31, 2025 at the VIP Lounge, Package A, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Some of the distinguished sports gurus nominated are: Tony Nezianya, a former Head of Sports at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and Emeka Odikpo of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) have been nominated for the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) veterans award.

Philip Balepo, Emmanuel Ndukuba and Chigozie Chukwuleta also made the list of nominees for the milestone award from Anambra State.

# Protesters under the name of “Concerned and Genuine Members of Ogbogwu Medical Traders’, at bridge head Onitsha, Anambra State, have staged a protest, insisting that the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogbogwu market bridge head Onitsha, Chukwulota Ndubisi, must step down.

The protesters maintained that Governor Chukwuma Soludo was likely to lose about 7,000 votes come November 8, 2025 due to the alleged high handedness of the Drug market Chairman.

The protesters led by Chief Chibueze Ifejiofor marched through some lines in Ogbogwu market, listing sins and evils’ of Chukwuleta Ndubuisi, chanting: “Chukwuleta must go” slogan.

fejiofor told newsmen shortly after the exercise that Chukwulota Ndubuisi as a caretaker committee chairman who supposed to stay for at least three to six months in power before conducting a proper election but he has stayed nearly four years now and still boasting that he has not yet completed his tenure.

# As part of efforts aimed at safeguarding the environment, Rotary Club of Awka Urban, in collaboration with that of Awka Metropolis and Orumba Metropolis has planted 15 economic trees at the corporate headquarters of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, in Awka.

Speaking during the tree planting exercise, the leader of the delegation and Assistant Governor of Rotary International in charge of Zone 13, Rev. Sister Ives-Mary Obi, said that the tree planting exercise is one of the seven focus areas of Rotary designed to impact on the society through safeguarding and beautifying the environment, and called on the beneficiaries to ensure that those economic trees are taken good care of.

Speaking on behalf of the participating Rotary clubs in Zone 13, the President of Rotary Club of Awka Urban, Rotarian Casmir Obiakor, said that Rotary decided to plant the economic trees so the upcoming generation will benefit from them, adding that Rotary will always monitor the growth of the trees to achieve set purpose.

The Managing Director of ABS, Mr Christopher Molokwu, who thanked Rotary International for deeming it fit to plant the economic trees in the establishment, expressed optimism for more collaborations between the state government-owned media outfit and Rotary International, especially in the areas of service to humanity.

# In a historic move to consolidate solution Agenda , APGA Njikoka Campaign Council stormed Enugwu-Agidi Ward II.

The ward tour which had high-profile APGA party stalwarts, Government Appointees, party leaders and APGA faithfuls converged with a view to promote the candidacy of Governor Chukwuma Soludo who is the frontrunner in Anambra gubernatorial election .

Addressing the people of the ward II, Enugwu-Agidi, Stakeholders applauded the Governor’s solution initiative which they said has improved all the facet of the state; in the education, security, Agriculture , Infrastructure, employment thousands of vibrant civil servants into health/ education system, and economic development of the state . They urged the people to vote unreservedly for APGA for a seamless victory of Governor Soludo who they said has no contender in the forthcoming election .

The councillor and The Ward Chairman of Ward II Enugwu-Agidi, Hon. Nnamdi Osita and Mr Ndubuisi Aguolu respectively commended the giant strides of governor Soludo evident in all sectors and expressed confidence in their ability to secure victory for the party at the ward .

# The Chairman of Njikoka LGA Barr. Chinedu Ononiba have appreciated the efforts of United Business Women Association of Nigeria and Diaspora, assuring them of his administration’s willingness to partner.

Hon. Ononiba gave the assurance when the association paid a courtesy visit in his office.

The Mayor commended them for aligning with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s
development goals.

In her remarks, the founder of the NGO, Amb. Mrs. Nkiruka Duru said the essence of the visit was to formally introduce the presence and objectives of the organization within the council area.

# SWAN Anambra state Chapter has congratulated the veterans for their well deserved nominations in a letter to the national Secretariat.

# The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogbogwu market bridge head Onitsha, Mr. Chukwulota Ndubisi have dismissed all the allegations against him, describing them as baseless and unfounded.

Reacting after the protest at the market, the chairman said some of the opposition members were among the executive of the incumbent caretaker Committee who were sacked by the government when they started demanding that funds generated by the committee should be shared, instead of channeling them to the government coffers as Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.

Chukwulota maintained that he had said it a number of times that most of these opposition people have no shops in the Ogbogwu market, while some of them are fake drugs peddlers, adding that he had alerted security agencies about the clandestine activities of the opponents.

On the issue of over staying his tenure as a caretaker chairmañ, Chukwulota declared: “I am not the only caretaker chairman of a market. Almost all the markets in Anambra state are being ruled by a caretaker Committee and that was the decision of the government”.
