* A Catholic priest in Anambra State, Father Ejike Nwankwo, has allegedly defrauded one Mrs Nnenna Ezenwa of about N27m. As a consequence, he has been dragged to a Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State for charges bordering on fraudulent activities, violence, assault, malicious damage and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
* The Managing Director of Operation Keep Clean and Healthy (Ocha Brigade) Mr Celestine Anere disclosed that they have arrested 30 people violating hawking and trading laws of the state and shut down almost 100 shops at the popular Eke Awka market. Anere who led the operation yesterday evening said the state government will no longer tolerate street traders who blocked roads and shop owner who keep their environment dirty.

* The Federal Government/International Fund for Agricultural Development, Value Chain Development Programme, FGN/IFAD VCDP has appealed to benefiting states in Nigeria, to cement their partnership by paying their Government Cash Counterpart Contribution, GCCC, as and when due. The Knowledge Management and Communication Advisor, FGN/IFAD VCDP, Mrs. Vera Onyeka-Onyilor, who made the appeal in Awka, while supervising a one-day training for extension agents and liaison officers from the eight participating council areas, said that the timely payment would enable them to brain storm with state governments on how the program can be scaled up into more council areas.
* Anambra State Anti-Touting Squad (SASA) has arrested 64 touts and one chance suspected robber in various parts of Onitsha. ANN recalls that SASA were inauguration recently by Governor Chukwuma Soludo at Onitsha.
Parading the suspects, the SASA Director of Operations, Mr. Solomon Onwuemene told newsmen that the suspects were arrested at Upper Iweka, Bridge Head and Chisco Motor Park respectively.

U. O. Transport Limited. They visited to beg him to pardon one of their sons, Mr. Ossy Onuko, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Agency, ACTDA whom escorts attached to his office reportedly battered a driver working with G. U. O Transport Company.

* The Solicitors for the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, have cleared the air over speculations surrounding the discharge of a case involving the senator by a Federal High Court recently.
A statement signed by one of the Solicitors, Mrs. Ifeoma Esom (Partner, TRLPLAW), the lawyers averred that Senator Ubah’s movement to the All Progressives Congress had nothing to do with the resolution of the court.
* Drivers, including commercial bus and lorry operators, have lashed out at the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo over increasing activities of Agberos (touts) in Anambra State. The protested on the platform of United Mini Truck Drivers Association, Anambra State chapter said under Soludo’s reign the activities of Agberos seemed to be legalized contrary to what the governor had catechized that there would be no such class of people under his reign.
* An official of the Anambra State Government, Mr Ossy Onuko, who reportedly ordered his thugs to brutalize a commercial driver of the GUO firm, for overtaking his convoy has apologized. He tendered his apology in a statement personally signed by himself.
He said, “I take full responsibility for all that, and I also apologise to the young man, his company GUO, and my friends.
