* Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has raised concerns over the widening erosion on Anambra Airport axis of Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

Soludo visited the erosion site to ascertain the level of damage on the road project which seems to have been abandoned by the construction firm.

The Anambra Governor said it has become imperative to raise concerns over the fast expanding erosion site which is threatening to cut the major highway and expressed dismay over the speed of the construction by RCC and MTN.

He said if urgent efforts are not made for the contractors to return to site and remedy the situation, it might soon degenerate to the situation as seen in Oba axis of Onitsha-Owerri Expressway which cost the state billions of naira to intervene.

* The Mayor of Oyi Local Government Area, Hon Emma Nweke has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to creating a safe and prosperous living environment for the good people of Oyi local government area inline with Governor Soludo’s mantra of a livable, sustainable and prosperous homeland.

Nweke made this statement during a strategic meeting with security personnel after patrolling the entire communities in the Council Area to ensure a peaceful and calm atmosphere for the people go about their daily lives and normal business.

Speaking during after the tour, Hon. Nweke remarked that the security of lives and property of Oyi people remains top priority of his administration and emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining law and order in the locality.

* The 2023/2024 Batch C1 and C2 corps members who served at the Anambra Ministry of Education have paid a farewell visit to Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the Commissioner for Education, at her office in the State Secretariat Complex, Awka.

During her address to the corps members, Prof. Chuma-Udeh emphasized that society is often harsh on youths, but reminded them that they are the architects of their future, urging them to let go of the expectation that a white-collar job awaits them, stressing the importance of acquiring skills while searching for formal employment.

The commissioner also warned them against shortcuts in life, saying that every action has its consequences. “All that glitters is not gold,” she said, encouraging the youth to stay focused on long-term success.

She advised the female corps members to seek partners with potential and build stable families, while reminding the men of their future responsibilities as heads of families, urging them to take life’s challenges head-on.

* The Mayor of Idemili South LGA, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has commissioned two road projects in Ezema village, Ojoto.

The roads which were attracted by a retired Director of Engineering Services at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing Abuja, Engr. Felix Ebuzema was a very special intervention projects from Federal Ministry of Works.

Speaking during the commissioning, Hon. Obi appreciated Engr. Ebuzema for his commitment to the progress of Ojoto, Idemili South and Anambra State, stating that he has embraced PPCP that Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo CFR is appealing Ndi Anambra.

She added that the roads would serve the people in the community, passerby, and appealed more stakeholders to assist in the development of their communities and Idemili South.

* A South-East Regional Conference on Improving Regulatory Environment for CSO Operations in Nigeria, has ended in Awka, Anambra State with a call on government at the sub-national level to appreciate the critical role the civil society plays in fostering sustainable development.

The Conference with the theme “Building Strategic Partnerships for a Sustainable Operational Environment for the non-profit sector in Nigeria”, organised by Global Rights in collaboration with Anambra State Government, was supported by European Union.

In keynote address, the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, urged legislators at subnational levels, particularly those in Southeast to see civil society organizations as partners in the advancement of democratic ethos.

* Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo has urged nursing mothers to sustained vaccination of their children  in state.

Mrs. Soludo gave the charge while speaking to Journalists shortly after admitting poliomyelitis vaccine to some babies at Amawbia Primary Healthcare Center, Amawbia -Awka, as part of activities to commemorate world polo day.

According to the governor’s wife, as it stands today, there is no recorded case of poliomyelitis in Anambra State and it has been like that in the past ten years because Anambra women are very corperative in given greater attention to their children.

* The Idemili South local government Mayor, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi, has commended Anambra State First Lady, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo for organizing free comprehensive medical checks and Cancer screening for women in 326 wards in the state.

Hon. Obi said, Mrs Soludo is committed to the progress and good health of women and children in the state, stating that she has empowered many women in the state.

Speaking on the free comprehensive medical checks and cancer screening, Hon. Obi urged women to take breast cancer seriously by conducting regular self-examinations.

* History was made as the Enugu-Otu community in Anambra East witnessed the construction of its first-ever general hospital since the community’s establishment.

The community is 15 kilometers away from town, which made them lacked access to medical care during emergencies. This prompted the governor to initiate the construction of the general hospital.

Although the hospital was originally planned as a ground-floor structure, the design was modified to a multi-story building due to frequent flooding in the area. To further safeguard it from future floods, the building was elevated with the support of attached pillars.

This and many more questions were asked by women of Avomimi village in Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka council area of the state as they protested the abadonment of the remains of their co-wife and matriarch of the Nnebocha family of Enugwu-Ukwu, the Late Mrs Josephine Mgbogoye Nnebocha in the mortuary for nearly two years now.

The Late Mrs Nnebocha from Nise and is the first of five wives of Mr Nnebocha of Avomimi village, Enugwu-Ukwu.

She died in January, 2023 but has been denied her burial rights by her family over unresolved inheritance issues.

This lingering crisis, therefore, became a source of worry to the women of the village who took it upon themselves to seek eternal justice for their co-wife.

* Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Infrastructure has conducted an inspection of the on-going road construction projects on Nwokedi and Edmund Streets, including extensions 1, 2, 3, and 4 in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area.

The committee led by its chairman and member representing Orumba South Constituency, Hon. Emma Nwafor expressed satisfaction with the quality of materials being used, particularly in the construction of the drainage system, which is critical for managing floodwaters in the area.

Hon. Nwafor stated that the visit is part of their oversight function which is aimed to assess the progress of work and ensure the contractors are adhering to the project’s specifications.

The contractor handling the job, Engineer Ezeadi Austin while speaking stated that the 3.5 kilometer road will be completed in less than five months, assuring not to compromise standards.
