* Indigenes of Ajalli community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, have decried the continuous enforcement of the abolished Monday sit at home order by separatist elements. Indigenes of the community have begged the Anambra State Police Command, led by CP Aderemi Adeoye to help arrest enforcers.

* The Anambra State House of Assembly has expressed willingness to partner sports journalists for positive reportage of sporting activities in the state. ANN reports that the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze stated this when he received the Executive members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN , Anambra state Chapter in Awka. According to Udeze, the 8th assembly will not hesitate to legislate laws that would aid the sports writers to carryout their duty of educating members of the public on sporting activities in the state.

* The Federal Government is set to revamp Nigeria’s steel sector to enhance the economy, create employment opportunities and speed towards industrialization. Nigeria’s Minister of State for Steel, Uba Maigari Ahmadu stated this during an official visit to Anambra State. ANN reports that the Minister and his entourage visited Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia also visited the traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka.

The Minister was also received at Innoson Motors, Nnewi by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma who expressed readiness to support the federal government’s drive to reposition the sector.

* The National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa has called on the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Anambra Council to uphold the ethics of the profession. Barr. Ezeokenwa while speaking in a media chat at the APGA National Secretariat, Awka on Friday  emphssized on the need for professionalism in news reportage so as to avoid spreading unverified information. He described journalism as a nobel profession with ethics that guilds its members thereby, commending the union lead by Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu for setting out one week to celebrate and bond together, stating that the event will foster unity and togetherness.

* The Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment in Anambra State, Comrade Don Onyenji, has said that he doubts if anybody in Anambra State can challenge Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo in terms of credibility, capacity and vision. Onyenji also said that Governor Soludo has constructed the highest number of roads in Nigeria in less than 2 years in office.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has repeated called on ndi Anambra resident in the Federal Capital Territory to extend their investments to their home state. The Governor who made the call, when he met with members of the Anambra State Public Officers, Elders and Stakeholders Forum in Abuja, urged citizens to invest at home instead of in others states especially when Anambra State under his watch has put things in place to ensure that businesses thrive. 

* The member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, has called on Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State to urgently intervene in the crisis rocking Okpoko community in order to prevent total breakdown of law and order. Ogene, in a statement, alleged that “illegal and violent activities of agents of the Anambra State Environmental Protection Agency, ANSEPA, in the name of collection of sanitation levy in the area,” was causing disputes in the community which falls under his Constituency (Ogbaru).

* No fewer than hundred shops have been sealed in Anambra State for disobeying the environmental laws through negligence of the shop owners to the neatness and cleanliness of their business environment. No fewer than 30 persons were also arrested for street trading, a risky venture the government has always campaigned against. The Managing Director of Operation Keep Clean and Healthy (Ocha Brigade) Mr. Celestine Anere, who disclosed these to newsmen, said the operation was carried out at the popular Eke Awka market, in Awka the capital city of the State. Mr. Anere, who led the operation, said the state government would no longer tolerate street traders who block roads and shop owner who keep their environment dirty.

* Wife of the Governor of Anambra State Mrs Nonye Soludo says she will continue to mobilize women to lead campaigns and actions for the institution of policies that favour women and children in the state. Mrs Soludo stated this when the wives of Anglican Bishops in the Niger Province paid her a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia. The Niger Province of the Anglican Communion comprises nine dioceses covering the entire Anambra State and some parts of Enugu State.
