* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has raised concerns over the widening erosion on Anambra Airport axis of Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

Soludo visited the erosion site to ascertain the level of damage on the road project which seems to have been abandoned by construction firm.

The Governor said it has become imperative to raise concerns over the fast expanding erosion site which is threatening to cut major highway into and expressed dismay over the speed of the construction of road by RCC and MTN.

* The Chairman, Panel of Enquiry on Oguaniocha Community Crisis, Justice Chinyelu Anigbogu has called on parties involved in the crisis to be truthful before the panel and to be guided by brotherly love and fear of God, in order to achieve the target of restoring peace and harmony to the community in no distant time.

Justice Anigbogu made the call at Government House Awka, during the first public hearing of the panel with people of Oguaniocha community, Ogbaru Local Government Area.

The Panel Chairman, asked members of the community to avoid any act that will further cause chaos in Oguaniocha now that the state government has waded into the matter to ensure that justice prevails and normalcy restored in the area.

* The legislative Council members of twelves political wards in Ekwusigo LGA have been inaugurated.

The Mayor of EKwusigo LGA, Mr. Chimezie James Obi while speaking urged legislators to be active in their various duties and to see public office as a medium to serve the public not an avenue for enterprise.

The Council legislative members elected their leadership as they held their first plenary section today.

* Bon Hotels Smith City, Awka, Anambra State has held its 2nd edition of Business Summit with a view to equipping the youth with skills to create wealth and excel as employers of labour.

The event with a theme, Business Ethics & Sustainability in 21st century, which was attended by captains of industries, entrepreneurs, investors and youth across all fields of endeavours, came at the time Nigeria was yearning for innovators and thinkers to revive her dwindling economy.

Speaking at the occasion, the General Manager, Bon Smith City Hotel Awka, Mr Anthony Zuokemefa, explained that the programme was geared towards harnessing the young generation potentials leveraging in technology and innovation to build profitable and socially impactful businesses.

* Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo has announced his approval for immediate payment of the new Minimum wage.

Soludo announced this at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, during a meeting with labour leaders in the state.

According to Soludo, the least paid worker in Anambra State is to go home with nothing less than N70,000, even as, it could be more ranging between N78,000 to N84,000, depending on the outcome of the tabulation by the government team.

This is coming as Governor Soludo announced a monthly cash award of N10,000 to all Pensioners in the state, until a time the Pension salary shall be reviewed.

* Orumba South Local Goverment Legislative Congress has been inaugurated by the Mayor of the council, Honourable Shedrack Azubuike.

The inauguration held at Council Hall, Orumba South Local Goverment Secretariat was followed by the election of the Councilor representing Owerre-Ezukala Ward One, Honourable Francis Ibe, as the Leader, and the Councilor representing Onne/Enugwu-Umuonyia, Honourable Appolonia Ifeabunike, as Deputy Leader of the Congress.

In his pre-inauguration remarks, the Orumba South Mayor, who said that the shared vision of developing Orumba South LGA requires all to contribute in laying strong foundation to achieve set goals in education, primary healthcare, security, agriculture, maintenance of rural roads, and skill acquisition, promised open-door policy, and not to do anything that will undermine the integrity and vital role of the legislature.

Honourable Azubuike urged the Councillors to formulate templates and generate people-oriented bills that will assist in achieving set development objectives, adding that in weeks time, he would present the first budget of the council to the Councillors for legislative actions.

Speaking after his election presided over by the Clerk of the Council, Mrs Priscilla Akalugo, the Leader of Orumba South Legislative Congress, Honourable Ibe, who appreciated his colleagues for the confidence in choosing him to lead, promised to make values of integrity and collaboration his watchwords.

* First lady of Nigeria, Senator Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed 1,200 25kg bags of rice to rural women, vulnerable and less privileged individuals in Anambra State.

Oluremi who was represented by the Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, distributed the bags of rice under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), in Awka.

She said the initiative was aimed at providing relief to those adversely affected by the current economic hardship in the country.

* The Solution Innovation District (SID) has been officially inducted as a full member into the prestigious International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) at the 41st World Conference held recently in Nairobi, Kenya.

The conference, themed “Demographics, Entrepreneurship, and Technology: Defining the Frontiers of Future Economies,” brought together a diverse global audience of innovation enablers, thought leaders, science experts, and policy makers from across the globe.

Chinwe Okoli, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation who serves as the CEO of Solution Innovation District, stated, “Being inducted into IASP as a ‘Full Member’ is a significant milestone not just for SID, but for Anambra State.

 

* Anglican Bishop of Diocese of Amichi, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor has implored Christians to run away from idolatry and seek true freedom in Jesus Christ.

Speaking on the last day of a three days
crusade held at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Ebenebe, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Bishop Ikeakor who was the guest preacher, urged Christians to seek God’s.

The Prelate emphasized the dangers of being enticed by worldly pleasures, warning that any form of worship or devotion outside Christ is a path to spiritual death.

 

* Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu has called on individuals and organizations to partner the state more on issues pertaining to the environment.

Odimegwu made the call when he received TECHNOSERVE facilitators for the USAID/COCA-COLA funded Nigeria Plastics Solution Activity where they inspected trucks and other equipment meant for the execution of all Anambra plastic challenge 2.0.

The Commissioner while speaking said
Anambra state has been actively pursuing initiatives that would reduce waste, promote recycling and foster a culture of sustainability under the leadership of Governor Charles Soludo CFR.

Odimegwu identified partnership as one of the several ways through which the state government is creating awareness on the importance of waste separation for recycling and generating economic prosperity through the circular economy.
