# Awka-North LGA has commenced tour of the 150 polling units in the 14 political wards of the council area.
The tour is expected to end on Saturday 1st November, 2025 with the aim of massive voter mobilisation and canvassing for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s electoral conquest in the council area.
Chairman of Awka-North LGA Hon. ThankGod Chibuike Anago, who spoke about the polling unit campaign tour, said Prof. Chukwuma Soludo will be reelected on November 8th as Governor of Anambra State.
# In view of the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for November 8, 2025, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu has ordered respective Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence-driven operations and coordinated security raids across identified flashpoints in their respective Areas of jurisdiction in the State.
The strategic move is aimed at nipping in the bud any emerging threats of political thuggery, cult-related violence and the illegal possession of firearms, with the overall goal of ensuring a secure and peaceful electoral environment.
# The Fun City Stadium, Awka, was ablaze with energy as the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Anambra State Chapter, hosted a thrilling football tournament in honour of the outgoing National President, Dr. Emeka Rollas Ejezie.
The tournament, which kicked off on 20th September, was one of the flagship projects of the current administration led by Hon. Mrs. Chinyere Anyaegbunam, the dynamic Chapter Chairperson.
It brought together AGN zones across the state in a spirited contest of skill, unity, and celebration.
Medals were presented to team captains, coaches, and organizers, while the championship trophy was handed to the victorious Onitsha Zone.
# Ahead of the forthcoming November 8th 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has cautioned corps members participating as ad-hoc staff, to maintain strict political neutrality, discipline, and professionalism throughout the electoral process.
The Anambra State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, gave the warning during a sensitisation programme held for corps members in Awka on Tuesday.
Addressing the corps members, at the event held at St. John of God Secondary School, Awka, Mrs. Ojisua reminded them that the NYSC-INEC partnership was built on trust and integrity, stressing that they must conduct themselves as impartial and patriotic ambassadors of the Scheme.
She further advised the corps members to prioritise personal safety, avoid unnecessary movements, and report any security threat promptly to the appropriate authorities.
The Coordinator also charged them to uphold good conduct, discipline, and professionalism during the exercise, reminding them that the credibility of the election depends largely on their attitude and conduct at polling units.
She emphasised that accepting gifts or gratification from politicians or their agents would amount to a betrayal of public trust, warning that any corps member caught in electoral malpractice would face severe sanctions from both INEC and NYSC.
# The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has apprehended 5 suspected illegal private security operatives and recovered a pump action rifle during a series of raids conducted in Awka.
The Anambra State Commandant of NSCDC, Commandant Maku Olatunde,
stated this while parading the suspects at the State Command Headquarters, Awka.
According to the NSCDC boss, the raids conducted across various hotels and grocery stores in Awka was based on credible intelligence indicating the presence of individuals dressed in attire resembling that of a security outfit, who may have been hired by political actors with the intention of utilizing them to cause chaos during the election.
The NSCDC State helmsman said the operation, carried out by the Private Guard Companies Department was aimed at flushing out undesirable elements, criminal gangs, and irredentists, preventing emerging security threats, curbing illegal possession of firearms, and stopping any form of violence or intimidation likely to undermine the peaceful conduct of the election.
# The Anambra State Police Command operatives attached to the 3 3 Police Station, in collaboration with Agunechemba Security, Nkwelle-Ezunaka Unit, arrested one Okonkwo Onyinye, aged 23 years, a female accomplice in a reported case of armed robbery and kidnap incident.
The team also recovered a snatched Toyota Highlander SUV of the victim in Ogidi.
According to a press release by Anambra State Police Command Spokesperson, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, Preliminary information revealed that the victim was double-crossed by five armed men operating in a Toyota Corolla car at Nkwelle GRA Gate.

# Ahead of the governorship election coming up in Anambra state on November 8th, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered coordinated security raids on identified flashpoints across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga, announced this on behalf of the commissioner this Tuesday in Awka.
The commissioner says Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders must intensify intelligence-driven operations and coordinated security raids across identified flashpoints in their respective areas of jurisdiction in the state
He said the measure is aimed at nipping any emerging threats of political thuggery, cult-related violence, and illegal possession of firearms in the bud, with the overall goal of ensuring a secure and peaceful electoral environment.
Orutugu emphasized that the command would not tolerate any attempt to disrupt public peace, intimidate voters, or undermine lawful electoral processes as he reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains neutral and non-partisan in the electoral process.
# In order to make sure that the people of the council area are able to vote in November 8 gubernatorial election, the ldemili South Chairman of Soludo/Ibezim re-election campaign, Chief Ikenna, widely known as Ike Cubana has urged residents of the council area to collect their Permanent Voter Card (PVC), so as not to be disenfranchised in the forthcoming Anambra gubernatorial election.
Chief Iyiegbu made this statement after INEC announced an extension of the collection of PVC to November 2nd, 2025, stating that the extension indicated that a lot of PVCs had yet to be collected.
Chief Iyiegbu described PVCs as their power to do and undo, stating that we have experienced a governor who has integrated execution into strategy by doing more than he says and Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo follows the tenets of good governance, rule of law, constitutional democracy, and all inclusive governance.
While stating that the patriotic people of Anambra State are not ready to change the winning team, he added that Mr. Governor’s infrastructural renewals are visible in all sectors throughout the State.
# The Mayor of idemili South LGA, Dr. Mrs Amaka Obi attended the empowerment of over 200 women and youths of Ojoto community at Ndiabor hall, Ojoto.
The empowerment which was organised by Deputy Mayor of idemili South, Hon. Ifeanyi Anakuba in collaboration with Ojoto stakeholders to support petty traders and youths in the community with 20 million empowerment fund was first of its kind.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Obi commended Hon. Anakuba and the stakeholders for their efforts towards the progress of women, youths and the community, stating that it align with Governor Charles Soludo’s vision to strengthen socio-economic wellbeing, and human capital development in the State.
She further congratulated all the beneficiaries and appealed to stakeholders to sustain the approach for the betterment of the people, Ojoto community, Idemili South and Anambra State in general.
