* Justus Uche Ijeoma, the defence counsel to a detained National Youth Service Corps member in Anambra State, Emeh Nnamdi Daniel, has petitioned the Chief Judge of Federal High Court for the continued detention of his client despite court bail. In the petition, Ijeoma accused the Deputy Chief Registrar( DCR), Federal High Court, Awka, Anambra State, Nkem Mba, of unprofessional conducts in processing his client’s bail.
* Anambra State House of Assembly appeals to captain of Industries and private establishments to as a matter urgency, emulate the palliative measures of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and effect same in the private sector to cushion the effect of economic hardship on the work force.
Chief sponsor of the motion Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Sylvester Ofodeme in his submission stated that the continuous rise in the cost of living in Nigeria has reduced the purchasing power of an average worker in Anambra State.
* Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council, has urged Anambra State Government to use the opportunity of the dry season that is setting in to ensure the completion of roads awarded in the state during the rainy season. The union said the quick completion of the road would allow for a smooth and incidents-free ride during the yuletide that is fast approaching. In a communique signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, after its September Congress said the dry season that is setting in is a good opportunity for the government to ensure that all outstanding road projects that were awarded in the state, during the rainy season are completed.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya has led officials of the ministry on a-six-day working visit to the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources with particular emphasis on its solid minerals development plans and strategy. This follows the directive of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to the ministry to with the view to glean lessons from their successes and challenges.
* Lawyer and media practitioner, Val Obienyem, has hailed the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, for naming Anambra State International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri, after the late Prof Chinua Achebe. He said it was an honour well deserved and universally applauded for. Obienyem, however, condemned the naming of the International Convention Centre(ICC), Awka, after the immediate past governor of the state, Willie Obiano, describing it as irrelevant.
* Anambra First Lady Mrs. Nonye Soludo has called for urgent action to modify the over-production and over-consumption of foods and beverages that do not undergo healthy production and nutritional history. Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Soludo who stated this in Awka while running a review of her healthy living projects over the last month, noted that she was very concerned about excessive consumption of foods with high content of sodium, sugar and unhealthy fats as against low intake of whole grains, pulses, vegetables and fruits.
* Anambra State house of assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner of education to take all necessary steps to include first aid education in the school curriculum of secondary and tertiary institutions because of its importance. Chief sponsor of the motion Hon. Tony Muobike in his submission said emergency lifesaving skills represents initial practical response procedures for managing medical emergencies before moving patient to hospital.
* Comrade Patrick Chemezie Anaso of the Correspondent chapel has emerge as the Chairman of Anambra State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN.
Comrade Anaso was elected alongside; Pamela Eboh (Vice Chairman) Ikenna Nwaokedi (Secretary) Uche Ndeke (Assistant Secretary), Marvelous Ezenwa (Treasurer) and Emmanuel Awam (Financial Secretary).
* The Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr Nelson Omenugha has been appointed one of the Global Ambassadors of Voice For Rights International Association Canada. Voice For Rights International Association Canada is an Organization dedicated to teaching and developing future diplomats using Diplomatic Simulations. The organization provides a forum for Young Leaders and Changemakers to discuss and find solutions to the most difficult global problems.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya has ordered that henceforth, any association that wishes to partner the state government in the Petroleum and Solid minerals sector should get a letter of identification from the bodies, recognized by Petroleum Industry Act 2021. Ifeanya gave the order during a meeting in his office at the Jerome Udoji state secretariat Awka, with executive members of Independent Crude Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, ICOMAN, who came to seek for partnership.
