* Police operatives attached to Nimo Police Station responded to a distress call on Sunday as suspected cult clash at Umuka, Nawfia.
According to a press release by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the Operatives upon arriving at the scene, found four lifeless bodies of young men in a pool of blood with suspected multiple gunshot injuries lying on the road.
The victims were confirmed dead by a doctor on duty and have been deposited to the morgue.
They were later identified as one Ebuka Nwaonkwube Ekenta of Mmimi village Nawfia, Nnatuanya Junior A.K: A Starboy of Mmimi village Nawfia, Aniemena A.K.A Osama of Umuariam Village and one Ahmed Auwal.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has directed shops across the state to open every Monday.
According to the Governor, going forward, the state government will intensify the provision of security in markets.
The Governor gave the directive while embarking on an inspection visit to markets across the state.
In markets visited, it was observed that many shops were under lock and key.
Soludo lamented that the closure of markets on Mondays has adverse effects on personal income of citizens, assuring that he will pay a repeat visit every Monday to ensure full compliance.

Anambra teachers took 2nd position in the March Past!
* The parishioners of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Obeagu Agulu, Anaocha LGA of Anambra State on 8th September, played host to His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, in their parish.
The event which started with a concelebrated Holy Eucharist, was graced by priests, religious and a good number Agulu People.
In his homily, the Cardinal extolled those who had been instrumental to the building of the chapel, especially the Family of Sir Gabriel and Lady Rita and also the Family of Chief Sir Paulinus and Lady Chinyere Winifred Aniagboso, who had single handedly taken over the construction of the father’s house in the parish.
* Police Operatives on Sunday October 6th resisted the abduction/kidnapping plan of a foreigner by suspected armed secessionist members in Ogbunka village.
According to a release by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer,
Anambra State Command, the operatives courageously engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle and saved the VIP.
Unfortunately, during the gun duel, two Police Operatives who were hit by bullet escaped with the foreigner. They are stable and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital. Operations are ongoing in the area for the possible arrest of the armed men.
* Anambra State Committee On National Agricultural Growth Scheme Agro-Pocket (NAGS-AG) has appealed to federal government to activate approved redemption centres across the state under the programme to ensure effective distribution of inputs to beneficiary farmers.
Under the programme being implemented through the ATAPS-1 project of the federal government, Farmers will be supported with fertilizers, seeds and agrochemicals with a view to increasing their productivities.
Rising from an engagement meeting with Agro-Dealers/Input Providers at the ADP Hall, Ministry of Agriculture, Awka, it noted with dissatisfaction that out of 10 redemption centres in the state, only three centres had been activated to attend to beneficiary farmers.
* The Nnewi Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has launched a large-scale agricultural project to ensure food availability and boost the diocese’s finances.
According to the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, the diocese has acquired extensive land in various parts of the South East for agricultural activities.
Farms have been established in Okija, Ozubulu, Anaku, Igbariam, and arrangements are underway to acquire more land in Akpugoeze, Enugu State, and Ufuma by the end of the year.
The bishop reported that significant quantities of crops such as cucumber, watermelon, pineapple, green pepper, cassava, and yam have been harvested in Okija. In Ozubulu, the diocese operates 40 large fish ponds, a piggery section, a poultry, and a snail section.
* The Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered immediate investigations into the gruesome murder of a 17-year-old girl suspected of being used for ritual purpose.

Anambra State Command, the girl’s lifeless body was found in a bush at Omasi village on Sunday.
She was later identified as one Chinasa Adigwe from Umueje village and her private parts were cut off in a bush at Omasi Village before Police were alerted.
The body has been recovered and deposited in a morgue.
The CP while condoling with the family, friends and Community of the deceased states that the Police shall do everything possible to make sure that those behind the barbaric act are arrested and justice served.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor joined other partners to celebrate this year’s National Day of Older Persons at the Awka City Stadium.
The event, with the theme, ‘Celebrating the Value of Older Persons and the Integral Role They Play in Community and Recognition of People and Places Who Remove the Barriers,’ was organized by Anambra State Ministry of Special Duties, in collaboration with the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) National Stakeholders Consultative Forum on Ageing (NNSCFOA) and Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation (ADF).
Speaking in an interview shortly after the walk to mark the event, Dr Mefor stated that Anambra is working on policies to carry older persons along and take care of them to elongate their life expectancy and that of Ndị Anambra in general.
* The Charismatic Bishop Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Anambra State chapter, has called for synergy among relevant stakeholders in the State to accelerate the pace for sustenance of viable transformation of the State.
The State Overseer of the CBCN, Archbishop Dr Mike Chukwudum said that the current security situation and economic hardship demand all hands to be on deck for cross-fertilisation of ideas, knowledge and vision among relevant stakeholders such as traditional rulers, town unions, traders, businessmen and the clergy.
He stressed the need for them to put their heads together to find ways to assist the government in the areas of security and economic development.
