# In appreciation of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s sterling performance, Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria, (TOAN), Anambra State Chapter has joined calls in supporting the Governor and the Deputy for a second tenure, and launched stickers to support the course, while listing some challenges faced by members.
Anambra State Chairman of TOAN, Comrade Donatus Ezeanwuna, who explained that the Governor with his visible works deserves a second tenure and that the association is prepared to support him, urged full recognition and collaboration with the association for the benefit of all.
On his part, the Awka Chairman of TOAN, Prince Collins Ozojiofor, noted that the meeting was to unveil stickers and mobilize members in supporting good governance championed by Governor Soludo, while hinting on massive endorsement by transporters in the state soon.
# Anambra State based team, Solution Football Club has been drawn into the Conference B of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The official draws ceremony was conducted during the NNL Annual General Meeting (AGM).
This will be the third season in the most important league for the Solution Boys who finished 5th on the log in the 2024/25 NNL Season with 29 points amassed from 20 league matches.
# The Anambra State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, has paid a courtesy visit to the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Corps Commandant Olatunde Maku, at the NSCDC Headquarters in Awka.
During the meeting, discussions centred on corps members’ welfare, security, and other areas of collaboration between both agencies.
Mrs. Ojisua commended the Command for its continuous support to NYSC programmes in the state and called for sustained partnership to guarantee the safety and well-being of corps members.
In his response, Commandant Maku assured the Coordinator of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding corps members in their places of assignment and communities of service. He also pledged to strengthen the existing cordial relationship with the Scheme.
# Anambra State Government have been urged to stop the Executive of Umuoji Improvement Union from going further to conduct any election in until they amend the constitution of the community.
The people who made the appeal through the Convener of Umuoji Progressives Movement, Chief. Peter Okafor, maintained that citizens who are eighteen years and above should be allowed to vote during election of President General of the town.
During a peaceful demonstration at Light House Awka, the protesters
said they want the current Executive of Umuoji Improvement Union to remove article sixteen and thirty-four of their constitution.
They revealed that the articles does not allow all-inclusive election, but allows their President General to select two delegates from each village in Umuoji to vote during the town union’s election.
Addressing the people, the Anambra State Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Chief Chinedu Nwoye, assured them that the Governor will look into their complaint.
# Idemili South Mayor Dr. Mrs Amaka Obi attended ward 1 Stakeholders’ meeting at Nkolofia village, Awka-Etiti in preparation for the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
Obi in her remarks maintained that

# The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) is set to hold the draw ceremony for the 2025 ANSFA/Akubudike Anambra State Football League.
The draw ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 17th September, 2025 at the New Anambra State Football Association Office, Opposite East End Hotels, Awka.
According to a memo signed by the association Secretary, Ralph Nweke and made available to the media captioned ‘INVITATION TO THE DRAWS OF THE ANAMBRA STATE FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2025’ reads,
A total of twenty-four (24) teams will be featuring in the league and will be placed in four (4) groups of six (6) teams each for the round robin format with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the Quarter-finals of the prestigious competition.
The 2025 ANSFA Anambra State Football League is being sponsored by Chief Jim Martin Nwabueze, MD/CEO Akubudike Energy Limited.
Over four million naira worth of prize monies will be won during the football extravaganza.
# It was a day of thanksgiving and political endorsement in Ivite, Umueri in Anambra East LGA, as Chief. Egbuna Okechi celebrated the 2025 New Yam Festival and publicly declared support for the re-election of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election.
Performing the symbolic eating of the new yam in company of stakeholders of the community and government officials, Chief Okechi, who is also a National Patron of the Soludo/Ibezim Sure Victory Movement (SVM) said the gathering was not only to thank God for a bountiful harvest, but also to reaffirm the group’s unwavering commitment to the APGA-led administration.
He praised Governor Soludo’s “tremendous leadership style,” noting that the Governor’s achievements have already surpassed the promises he made during his first term campaign.
Chief Okechi explained that the annual new yam festival inspires farmers to work harder, and the 2025 edition gave the community an opportunity to showcase the Governor’s “scorecard of fulfilled promises” to the people.
# The Anambra State Police Command, in a joint operation with local vigilante operatives, has arrested four suspected cultists following a violent clash at Nsugbe, Anambra East LGA.
Armed miscreants suspected to be cultists were sighted attacking one another with cutlasses, broken bottles, daggers and other dangerous weapons behind Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, on Tuesday.
Anambra State Police Command Spokesperson, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga in a press statement noted that a swift response by a combined Police/Vigilante team led to the arrest of the following suspects: Oyachonam Friday ‘M’, 26yrs, Akachukwu Ekwenze ‘M’, 23yrs, David Chukwuma ‘M’, 25yrs, Eziolise Aloysius ‘M’, 23yrs while others escaped into nearby bushes.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reassures ndi Anambra that the Command remains relentless in its fight against cultism and other forms of violent crimes in the State.
