* The Permanent Secretary to Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo, has said, Idemili South candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in the forthcoming local government election, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi is an exceptional chairman.
Nwankwo made this statement as Hon. Amaka Obi, the deputy candidate, Hon. Ifeanyi Anakuba convened stakeholders, present and past appointees, local government and ward executives meeting including members of Iyom Ife-Abata campaign team.
He said that, Hon. Obi has touched all the sectors, affirming that she is one of the outstanding Caretaker Chairman in the history of the state.
* Anambra State Committee On National Agricultural Growth Scheme Agro-Pocket (NAGS-AG) has appealed to Federal Government to activate approved redemption centres across the NAGS-AP programme for effective distribution of inputs to beneficiary farmers.
Under the programme being implemented through the ATAPS-1 project of the federal government, Farmers will be supported with fertilizers, seeds and agrochemicals with a view to increasing their productivities.
In Anambra state, the key objective is to increase the production of maize,rice and cassava through the provision of subsidized inputs to already profiled 2,580 farmers.
Rising from an engagement meeting with Agro-Dealers/Input Providers at the ADP Hall, Ministry of Agriculture, Awka, it noted with dissatisfaction that out of 10 redemption centres in the state,only three centres had been activated to attend to beneficiary farmers.
* Some farmers in Anambra State are said to have started harvesting their crops prematurely to beat the fast impending flood disaster.
Many farmlands in Anambra communities are said to be already under water following increase of water level.
The Executive Secretary, Anambra state Emergency Management Management Agency, SEMA, Chief Paul Odenigbo made the revelation while providing an update on the flood situation in the state.
* Chief Bucknor Agu, the Chairman Soludo Support Group, Ogbaru Main Market Chapter, has raised concerns about the actions of Humphrey Anuna, the President General of the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), accusing him of undermining the structures of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ogbaru Market and other markets across Anambra State.a
According to Agu, recent incidents suggest that Anuna might no longer be loyal to APGA, raising the question of whether he is working for the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chief Agu’s concerns stem from a series of troubling events in the market, where Anuna is accused of fostering instability and sabotaging APGA’s presence.
* The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State has solicited improved collaboration and involvement of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in restricting sale of drugs in motor parks across Anambra state.
Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joyce Nnennaya Alexander stated this during a courtesy visit to the state Commander of NDLEA, Anambra State Commander Onyishi Daniel Ogbonna, recently.
Alexander canvassed for the involvement of NDLEA in FRSC’s proposed operation to check drunk driving on an advisory note scheduled for October in preparation for high vehicular movements in Ember months.
* The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra Chapter has applauded Team Anambra for their sterling performance at the just concluded National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State capital.
Chairman of SWAN in Anambra, Mr. Chimezie Anaso who made the commendation in Awka on Sunday said it was a part of the positive outcomes of the revolution going on in the sports sector under the current management of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission.
The SWAN chairman said Anambra athletes had shown discipline and steady improvement at the games every succeeding year.
* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has said that with the massive achievements of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in all sectors of the State economy, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will convincingly win in the twenty-one local government areas and three hundred and twenty-six electoral wards.
Lauding Governor Chukwuma Soludo who is the National Leader of APGA for organizing a peaceful and well attended APGA Mega Rally at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka for the September, 28th local government election in the State, Rt. Hon. Udeze described APGA as a moving train for the Progressives.
He added that the quality of APGA stakeholders and faithful has continued to earn the party visible supremacy over other political parties.
* Managing Director of Rojenny Stadium and Games Village Oba, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has commended athletes and officials of team Anambra at the just concluded 8th National Youth Games in Asaba.
Ezeonwuka who was impressed that Anambra made her best impact ever at the games called on the State government to ensure that the promising athletes were not allowed to go back to streets as one time champions.
The foremost sports facility investor commended Gov Chukwuma Soludo for reviving the grassroots sports development system and also, Patrick-Estate Onyedum Chairman of Anambra State Development Commission for driving the vision effectively.
* Ahead of the September 28th Anambra State local government election, Alor women have thrown their weights behind Idemili South local government candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in the forthcoming council polls, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi, the Deputy candidate, Hon. Ifeanyi Anakuba and Alor ward 2 councillor candidate, Hon. Obinna Ernest Okafor.
Speaking during the meeting, Alor women president general, Lady Ifeoma Uzokwe said, Hon. Obi has performed beyond expectations as the Transition Committee Chairman of the council area, stating that she touched all the sectors including human capital development which over 500 women and youths benefited from it.
She noted that Alor women have resolved to support the good governance brought by Hon. Obi at grassroot level for continuity of good work and urged them to take the message to their different homes and make sure that they vote APGA candidates in the forthcoming election.
* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, is shaking things up in his administration, targeting underperforming appointees in a bold move to optimize performance and accountability.
Nine appointees are reportedly on their way out as Soludo intensifies evaluation of appointees.
This development comes as Soludo approaches three years in office, having put up numerous projects aimed at transforming the state.
Recently, Commissioner for Information Paul Nwosu resigned, and Dr. Law Mefor took over. Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chido Obidiegwu, was reportedly redeployed, replaced by Christopher Osemedua Molokwu.
