* Anambra state government has paraded sixteen illegal revenue collectors and sand miners extorting and intimidating residents and motorists in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Five of the suspects were arrested while masquerading themselves as government IGR collectors while another 11 were arrested while dredging sand from unapproved areas which were sealed off by the state government at Second Niger Bridge.

Parading the suspects in Awka, the Managing Director, Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere said that the suspects who are unknown to the state government intimidate and extort unsuspecting members of public of their hard earned money while dispossessing others of their property.

* Professor Chukwuma Soludo has has norminated and send three names to the Anambra State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation as members of the Judicial Commission.

Governor Soludo through a letter addressed to Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze norminated
Dr. Mrs. Ifeyinwa Obegolu, Dr. Ben Nwankwo and Hon. Victor Ezeoke.

Soludo also sent the names of Ezewaka Anthony Uchechukwu (Chairman), Bar. Chukwuma Christopher (Member), Mrs.
Okoli Philomina (Member), Mrs. Udealo Adobi Margaret (Member), and Dr. Ogbakalu Chidiebere (Member) as Members of Anambra State Civil Service Commission.

* Anambra State Commissioner For Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake has re-emphasized the commitment of the present adminstration in the state meet and fulfill their obligations in counterpart funded projects with its partners.

The Commissioner stated this in Awka during the opening session of a two-day partnership co-ordination and review meeting organised by the ministry.

The programme which reviews the achievements, constraints, lessons learnt and assess the relevance of programme interventions attracted participants from ministries, departments and agencies, non-governmental organizations and the media.

Mrs Nnake maintained that there is need to have an understanding of all partners operating in the state so they can pass through the necessary process to ensure proper continuation of partnership activities in the state.

* Anambra State’s new Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor has called for complete paradigm shift in the operations of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) to enable her meet up with current challenges of strategic communication.

The commissioner, who made the call during his familiarization visit to the station, observed that ABS as the flagship of information architecture in Anambra State requires revitalization and total changes in her way of doing things.

In his remarks, the ABS Managing Director, Mr Christopher Molokwu, who received the commissioner with other management staff explained that ABS is trying to rebrand and reposition to make the audience believe but is facing a lot of challenges, especially the lack of working tools.

The commissioner, who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Barr. Ndirika Onyekwelu and the Acting Director of Information, Mr Emma Ikegwuani, among others also visited the Anambra State Library Board.

* Police-led Joint Security Force while on intelligent-driven routine patrol along the pillar-pole area of Aguata, intercepted a suspect name withheld carrying three bags of Garri.

The Operatives upon search of the suspect discovered beneath the edible, a large quantity of gunpowder.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, preliminary information reveals that the suspect was en route to a criminal camp to deliver groceries for consumption and the gunpowder for production of Improvised Explosives for the gang.

The suspect is currently in custody and assisting the Police to arrest the other gang members.

* Flood occasioned by torrential rainfall has sacked over a dozen family from their residents in Ngozika Estate, Awka, the capital city of Anambra State.

Ngozika Estate is considered to be a highbrow area residential area in Awka, there was wailing among residents as flood water over ran many compounds in the state.

Most of the families sacked by the flood water are currently squatting with friends and family in safe area, while the rich among them, have relocated to hotels, just as the estate is known to be the choice residents of some of Anambra’s privileged individuals.

* Members of Okija Solution Movement, has presented two special portraits to Anambra State’s new Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, in his office at Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.

The group, led by the Chief Administrator, Cosmos Igboekweze and the secretary, Mr Remi Nnamdi Madueke made the presentation during their courtesy visit to the commissioner.

According to the Chief Administrator, Igboekweze, the members of the group came to express their happiness over Mefor’s appointment and are confident that Mefor will perform beyond expectations.

In his remarks, Dr Mefor, who was visibly happy over the special portraits solicited the group’s partnership in sensitizing Ndị Anambra of Governor Soludo’s numerous achievements.

According to him, Governor Soludo has done a lot in all aspects of development in the state.

* Residents of Abel Arinze Close in Awka have lamented the continuous flooding of the area whenever it rains, attributing it to the poorly constructed channeling of a drainage system in an ongoing construction project in the area.

Residents of the street were seen in their numbers trying to salvage what is remaining evacuating of their damaged properties after last night’s heavy downpour.

Others made makesshift exists from the compound through the fence after the flood covered their gate entrance.

* Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has norminated Mr. Akaosa Charles Okocha for the post of State Auditor General.

Governor Soludo also sent the name of Mrs. Josephine Nkolika Anyaegbunam as
Auditor General for local government

Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze at plenary read the four letters sent by Governor Soludo.

Udeze referred the names to the House
Committee on Screening and Electoral Matters chaired by the deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye.

The Speaker urged the Committee to report back to the House in the next adjurned date which is Thursday 3rd of October.

* Operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SPACS) acting on credible information stormed a criminal hideout in Oba Idemili South LGA in the early hours of Wednesday arrest one Nelson Wisdom ‘M’ from Etsako East, Edo State and recover one locally fabricated pistol with two live ammunition.

The Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam reiterates that the Police Command and Other security agencies will continue to act on information to sustain the onslaught of Operation and to frustrate evil plans of the criminal elements in the State.

All suspects shall be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigation.
