I * The ninety-one inaugural lecturer of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Kenneth Eze, has recommended technical education, steady power supply, international collaboration, as well as peaceful election and orderly transfer of political power as solutions to the challenge of low-tech medicine in Nigeria. Professor Eze made the recommendations at the institution’s auditorium while presenting the lecture on “Radiology in Nigeria: High-Tech Medicine in Technology-Challenged Low Resource Setting”.

* Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB is inviting suitably qualified teachers to apply to be employed into the Anambra State teaching service for public primary schools in the state. A statement signed by the Executive Chairman of the Board, Dr Vera Nwadinobi stated that interested applicants must possess at least a National Certificate in Education or a Bachelors’ degree Education. Only individuals with qualifications in education will be considered. The statement, therefore, asks interested persons to apply through the website http://www.anambrastate.gov.ng/asubeb on or before 14th October, 2023.

* The Anambra State Joint Taskforce has pulled down an ongoing Shopping Mall in Onitsha situated at Nwangene Stream/River Niger Water Ways Niger Street, Fegge in Onitsha South Council Area. The Joint Taskforce, which was led by officials of Anambra State Physical Planning Board stormed the area and stopped the action of a developer who was erecting the unapproved shopping mall. The illegal structure was built on original waterways and drainages thereby endangering the lives of unsuspecting future occupants and the people around the area.

* Anambra State Government has announced the commencement of recruitment process for teachers into public secondary schools in the state. In a statement signed by the Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, stated that qualified and interested applicants should apply through http://www.anambrastate.gov.ng/ppssc on or before 14th October, 2023. According to the statement, applicants must posses at least a Bachelors degree in Sciences, Education, Technology, Engineering, Technology, and Engineering, an NYSC Discharge or exemption certificate, First School Leaving Certificate, and an  Evidence of age. 

* Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo will  be providing free cervical cancer screening for female civil servants and public servants and wives of male civil servants and public servants in the state. The free cervical cancer screening to be carried out in collaboration with the World Health Organization, WHO office in Anambra State, will be held in the Head of Service Conference Room, Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka on Friday, September 29, 2023.

* The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state, has sacked and suspended lecturers and other categories of workers for various misconducts. This is sequel to a panel recommendations for the expulsion and suspension of more than 14 individuals, including staff and students. The implicated persons comprise a priest, three lecturers and students. This was disclosed in a.release signed by Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor of the University on Public Relations and Special Duties,Prof Charles Esimone.

* An Anglican cleric, Venerable Ekenechukwu Nwafor, has charged Christians to work hard to earn their living while abiding by the principles of good Christian living. Ven. Nwafor, who is the Vicar at the Church of The Pentecost (CoP), Awka Diocese, Anglican Communion, gave the advise during a Sunday service in the church.

Delivering his sermon titled: “Wealth Creation in a Challenging Economy: The Christian Perspective,” the Vicar urged Christians to strive to attain financial independence as money is one of the necessities of life.

* The Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has enjoined Muslims in the state to continue to give maximum support to the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo especially by maintaining peace and order. Felicitating with Muslims as they celebrate the feast of Eid-el-maulud, Udeze called on them to always champion the unity, peace and progress of the country.

* Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Nonye Soludo, has said that the major aim for bringing her healthy living crusade to Anambra State is to change traditional harmful health habits and establish a new ideology in the way people see and look after their health. Mrs Soludo stated this while addressing youth leaders from the one hundred and seventy-nine communities in Anambra State; under the auspices of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, during their monthly general congress in Awka.
