# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has assured of his administration’s commitment to the development of all parts of Anambra State.

The Governor gave the assurance during his usual inspection visit to Iyiowa Odekpe in Ogbaru Council Area, where he took a walk from New Road to Ihitenansa, to Asha, to school road, after which he acknowledged the dilapidated condition of the roads, assuring that the roads will be done, with particular reference to the school road which he described as an emergency situation, promising that work will commence there immediately.

Soludo was later received at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church where he recalled that Ogbaru is one of the three local government areas that kept his hope alive after contesting the gubernatorial election in 2010, stating that though he started work in Okpoko and commenced construction of the Nkisi Atani to Ozubulu road, which will be completed soon, his attention has been repeatedly drawn to Iyiowa Odekpe.

While promising to continue working for the good of the common man, the Governor recalled that Ogbaru was one of the eight local government areas that was under siege when he assumed office, but was later liberated, pointing out that intelligence report has it that the “bad boys” are regrouping in the hinterland of Ogbaru, and assured that the onslaught will be set against them.

# In line with its tradition, the Standards Organization of Nigeria, SON, has presented Certificate and Logo to the Anambra State Solid Mineral Development Company Limited, ASSMDCL, and urged management and staff of the company not to lower quality in Kaolin and bentonite production for industrial uses.

Making the presentation at Kaolin Processing Plant, Ukpor in Nnewi South LGA, the Director General of SON, Dr Ifeanyi Okeke, represented by the Co-ordinator, Anambra State Office Two Nnewi, Mr Michael Ogbuji, said with the certification, SON will continue to ensure that products from the plant have relevant Nigeria industrial standards, noting that the landmark achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, whom he attested has strong interest in made in Nigeria products.

On their parts, the MD/CEO of ASSMDCL, Prof. Charles Ofoegbu, and the General Manager of the company, Mr Gilbert Ebuka Ujuboñu, who explained that the journey to this point started over 20 years ago after it was discovered that Anambra hosts the largest volume of Kaolin deposit in Nigeria, commended Governor Soludo, Igwe Ukpor, the entire community and SON for helping the make the event a reality, noting that the Kaolin Processing Plant has chains of economic benefits for the Ukpor community, Anambra State and Nigeria in general.

# The Nigerian Legion Anambra State Council (NLASC), Military Veterans,
has initiated stronger ties with the Nigeria Police Force at Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo. Dunukofia local government area.

The delegation led by the State Commandant of the Legion, Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Benedict Ezeaku Agbogu, paid a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 13, AIG Peter Oladipo Abayomi

The delegation also included senior military veterans such as the Council Secretary, Captain Mike Onwudinjo KSJI, MNSE.

Speaking during the meeting, ACG. Agbogu commended AIG Abayomi’s strategic leadership and tireless efforts in combating crime across the Zone. He noted that the veterans were eager to contribute their wealth of experience toward enhancing security, particularly in intelligence gathering and community engagement.

Responding, AIG Abayomi warmly welcomed the veterans and praised their patriotic commitment. He described them as “invaluable national assets” whose expertise can greatly reinforce the existing security framework.

# In a bid to ensure quality and standardisation of kaolin products, in line with global best practices, the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has presented certificate to Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company Limited, having met the requirements both locally and internationally.

Receiving the certificate at the Kaolin Processing Factory Site, Umunuko, Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, the MD/CEO of Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company, Prof Charles O. Ofoegbu, noted that the project was a dream come true, which is also in line with the Soludo-led administration’s agenda of transforming the state into an industrial hub.

Prof. Ofoegbu further assured that with the endorsement from SON, the Kaolin products will always maintain its standard of delivering quality products in the labour market.

He also commended the state government for reviving the Kaolin Processing Plant, which was abandoned over 20 years ago, and his doggedness in ensuring that quality products are being circulated in the market.

# The Anambra State Government has launched the distribution of essential hospital equipment to 22 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in Anambra West Local Government Area, a move aimed at boosting the quality of health services across rural communities.

The presentation of the medical items took place at the council headquarters in Nzam and was coordinated by the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor.

He explained that the initiative is part of the state’s wider plan to revitalize healthcare delivery at the grassroots and ensure that residents in remote areas have better access to functional health facilities.

The items supplied include stethoscopes, baby cots, suction machines, pulse oximeters, delivery kits, hospital beds, anti-shock garments, and drip stands. Others are ward screens, Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) tapes, and a range of diagnostic tools intended to improve both maternal and general patient care.

# Presenters of the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) have marked this year’s August Meeting with a blend of talk sessions, empowerment and humanitarian outreach, which attracted the Chairman, Anambra State Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, who spoke on women’s roles in family and nation building, stressing the importance of economic independence.

As part of the August Meeting activities, ten women were empowered with cash gifts and wrappers to support their livelihoods and ease family responsibilities.

ABS Managing Director, Mr Christopher Molokwu, who also played a key role in the humanitarian service, urged the presenters to continue championing causes that impact lives positively.

Speaking during the outreach exercise , an ABS presenter, Uchechukwu Ebonam, explained that the initiative was designed to give practical meaning to the August Meeting tradition by not only encouraging women through talks, but also backing words with action through empowerment.

# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, who is also representing Ogbaru Constituency One, eulogized the Governor for his good works in the state, assuring his constituents that the Governor is intentional about developing every part of Anambra, including the remote part of the state.

Also speaking during Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s inspection visit to Iyiowa Odekpe in Ogbaru Council Area,
the Mayor of Ogbaru Council Area, Sir Kenneth Akwuobi, appreciated the Governor for the formidable love he has shown to the people, just as the Member representing Ogbaru Constituency One, Mr. Noble Igwe, described APGA as the party to beat come November 8, 2025.

# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtoochukwu Udeze, has called for more collaboration between the church and government to improve the moral tone of the society.

Udeze while speaking at Immanuel Anglican Church Nkpologwu during the investure of 43 faithful into the Knighthood Order of Saint Christopher and Lady of Bethany respectively by the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ezeofor, charged the church not to relent in it’s prayer for constituted authority

Performing the function, Bishop Ezeofor, who maintained that Knighthood is not a title, urged the recipients to see themselves as soldiers of Christ who are specially called to defend the Christian faith

The preacher, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor of Amichi Diocese, who cautioned the people against being desperate over titles, urged Christians to dissociate themselves from the standards of the world, while the President of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor, Chaplain, Aguata Council of Knights, Venerable Izunna Moneke, and a recipient of the Knighthood Order, Igwe Timothy Ifurunwa of Ihite community, called on Christians to use their various platforms in transforming the society.
